Normal people dont clap and just get off the fucking plane.

He was too busy immediately leaving from his seat in the back row to stand up
TrickDacy@lemmy.world 31 minutes ago
Out of all the dumb shit people do on planes, we’re focusing on people standing too long? How about the assholes that rush forward to get off in front of you? How about the people who act like they’ve never flown before and take a fucking year to get off the plane? I feel like standing when it’s seen as pointless is about the least annoying thing done on a flight.
doingthestuff@lemy.lol 1 hour ago
I know that looks dumb but I find it painful to sit for long periods of time and they don’t let you be stand around on the plane. I always get an aisle seat so that I can stand as soon as it lands. I know I’m not going anywhere for awhile but I can’t sit any longer.
craftrabbit@lemmy.zip 1 hour ago
I love window seats so much because you can just sit and wait until there’s space. What good does sprinting out of the plane do you? More waiting time at the baggage claim?

People are keyed up and do not have emotional regulation skills. This is a failure of society.
We make fun of them for their “fake” emotional support animals, their public panic attacks and for their attempts at discreet electronic emotional support. This is also a failure of society.
That guy trying to make it through his fight is not the reason the earth or humans are doomed.
Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 hours ago
Nobody said hes the reason. Hes a symptom
Malyca@lemmy.zip 1 hour ago
I’m married to an autistic man that is incapable of providing emotional support of any kind. I’m one of those people that really needs it. Even I wouldn’t resort to this. This is delusion.
BallShapedMan@lemmy.world 1 hour ago
I hope you have a great support group that can be there for you! You deserve it!
My granddaughter has been diagnosed with autism and we’re all learning what it means to be a parent and grandparent. You’re right it’s not the same and some things we just need to learn to live with. And she’s wonderful, delightful, and I smile every time I see her.

Most of people here are fine with this person continuing with it because empathy is fucking dead here. Idk how lemmy became more soulless than reddit.

They don’t, including those who personally hate AI(not companies). AI heavily advertising as AI, not as LLM
JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 2 hours ago
I mean, for all you know he had an agent set up to take that queue and send personalized messages to his spouse, boss, and mistress in his current town, letting them all know of his arrival.
ArmoredThirteen@lemmy.zip 2 hours ago
It probably would have gotten confused and sent an NDA doc to their mistress, a nude of that kink they’ve never admitted to to their wife, and a “sorry I’ll be home late my cunt of a boss is calling me in immediately” to their boss
Polisheocket@lemmy.zip 1 hour ago
That would be magic
Seasm0ke@lemmy.world 3 hours ago
Had an LLM tell me when brainstorming an issue to ‘try x y z and talk to me the whole time’ like it was a 911 operator. creepy as hell especially considering I interact with it like the computer on star trek and not like a digital friend.
I pit together a risks and realities training for users new to AI that highlights the ways it manipulates you with language to bias you towards its output or performance. Its pretty eye opening for many. Did a dry run with a professional development group and there are a lot of old ladies worried about their son or grandkids AI psychosis.

A few weekends ago my daughter asked me to come over to help her with her NAS. It stopped working. I get there and find out her and Gemini had been trying to fix it and borked the whole thing.
The issue, my daughter had the wrong password. It turns out when doing a password reset you leave the password field empty to kick off the reset process.
At no point did Gemini suggest that. But she was at the point of reg edit when she called me for help…
SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 2 hours ago
especially considering I interact with it like the computer on star trek and not like a digital friend.
Yup. I specifically added an order for it to never talk in 1st person and use the sterile tone of Wikipedia

Perhaps the Person had ChatGPT coach them through their fear of flying. I’m not saying it’s not sad that people resort to getting emotional support from a robot, but I wouldn’t condemn their actions if that were the case.

Planet will be cooked first.
Robin@lemmy.world 4 hours ago
Not that I endorse wasteful use of AI, but they were on a plane. It’s not like they care about their impact on the planet.
LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 3 hours ago
A plane does something useful. The hallucination machine is a waste in nearly all aspects.
drcobaltjedi@programming.dev 2 hours ago
A plane is a bus that is fast, can fly, and can traverse great distances. An LLM spews statistically accurate looking language with no regard for accuracy or content. These are not the same. One is objectively useful even if its common current incarnation pollutes a lot.
Smaile@lemmy.ca 5 hours ago

brave_lemmywinks@lemmy.world 5 hours ago
There’s a lot of stuff that we do today that the same people doing it considered pathetic in the 90s.
I have no doubt that AI relationships will be completely normalised and not much different from the movie Her.
merc@sh.itjust.works 1 hour ago
and not much different from the movie Her
Did you misunderstand that movie? A relationship with an AI is never seen as normal in the movie. The protagonist is a pathetic, lonely man who is going through a divorce. He buys an operating system with an AI component who he then falls for. When he admits to his wife that he’s involved with his operating system, his ex-wife laughs at him for it. And, at the end of the movie, the AIs have evolved so that they’re no longer interested in humans and leave humanity behind to do their own thing.
There’s never a time, even in that movie, where AI relationships are something you’d want to admit to in public.
ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 5 hours ago
Relationships with some actual AI? Maybe one day. With LLMs? Never.
Skullgrid@lemmy.world 3 hours ago
There’s a lot of stuff that we do today that the same people doing it considered pathetic in the 90s.
Well, when they thought the girl on the other end of the phone sex line or a stripper they kept visiting was their girlfriend, that was pathetic in the 90s, and it still is.
This is somewhere between fucking your secretary and fucking your vacuum cleaner.

Did your AI girlfriend waifu give you love today?
SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 2 hours ago
No, I’m afraid they were out of tokens for dirty talk
Smaile@lemmy.ca 5 hours ago
No they won’t, these people won’t reproduce if their doing this. Over time as gens go on, it will become less and less common.
brave_lemmywinks@lemmy.world 5 hours ago
It has nothing to do with reproduction, “normal” people aren’t reproducing already… This is a social and isolation issue, people have needs that a non judging sycophantic AI will feed into.
I’m quite surprised that someone would feel so strongly otherwisd and would bet a large amount of money that I 20 years people will not be judging just like they did nerds, games, cellphones, internet, social networks, etc…
