This is not entirely bad imo. There are other things they should have sacrificed first, but in the end they will have to kill off a lot of projects anyway. They need to downsize and focus on the important things again.

It looks like they made those thin sections roughly 2x wider in the stl files to strengthen it. That makes me a little more optimistic.

I just measured the red ones original dimensions with calipers and the individual comb parts have 0.5mm at their thinnest and 1mm at their thickest. My 3D printing is not perfect, but i just dont see how that is gonna survive. Maybe i will try on the weekend and let you know how it went.

Pretty sure these would break just from sliding it on and off, getting it caught on beard hair or skin or dropping it from a like 30cm.
- Comment on How can open source projects get acquired by third parties? 2 days ago:
I mean in your example it wasnt the software that was bought, but the website no? If most of the project revolves around a single site that uses the software then this is inevitable.
If nobody is willing to take over the maintenance of a fork, then thats just what happens. Its not like there is a deadline to this tho. Anyone could still just fork the codebase of a project that went to shit 10 years ago and start maintaining it again.
If people are willing to work on a project for free thats cool, but without any donations it will often be too much. To get donations you need a central, well known platform that represents the entire project. This is hard to do for a fork, because potential donators would initially have to trust complete strangers to not just abandon the project again right away.

Yeah but in that sense my method still fulfills that requirement. They would need to actually get access to my locally stored kdbx file and my master key. If they get that then everything is fucked anyways.
- Comment on Rawr 3 days ago:
Yeah basically, but MFA is honestly not that needed if you use a password manager, secure passwords and URL based autofill. MFA was invented to protect plebs that use bad passwords and easily fall for phishing sites.
- Comment on Rawr 4 days ago:
I was always annoyed with MFA because i didnt like needing multiple devices or applications just to log into one shitty website. Now i have my TOTP stuff stored in keepassxc so it just autofills with zero hassle :)

Thanks, immediately went to set it up. No issues. Also works properly in combination with keepassxc’s TOTP feature.
