  Yeah, in that manor it’s somewhat like Reddit. Even if you have a clear and explained opinion that isn’t the narrarive the masses are trying to push you get down voted into oblivion. Once you get a few down votes, then everyone just goes with the mob mentality that it’s automwticqlly bad regardless.

  An example would be abortion. I’m pro choice, but I could see how you could argue pro life as a valid opinion, even though I don’t agree with it. I’d get lambasted because I’m not hard pushing that pro life is the worst thing in the world ect.

  Lemmy reflects real life, I taught for 20+ years and I can tell you in my experience most people think they’re incredibly smart and have the solution to everything. Once you challenge them with a valid question or give any pushback, you’re called racist, fascist, islamiphobe, ect usually because they’re just repeating something they heard from someone, possibly a lot smarter than them (sometimes not), and they never really formed that idea/opinion on their own and don’t actually understand it beyond parroting it.

  Because they’re generalizing. Is every boomer a millionaire? No, there were plenty of cooks, waitresses, mechanics, retail jobs, ect that aren’t. What they’re talking about are people that made middle-class my money in a lifetime career at the same job. They became millionaires by doing absolute shit other than living life, on a single income with however many kids.

  Now a days, if you’re in a middle office job you’re living paycheck to me paycheck in a 1 bedroom apartment and may or may not be forced to take the bus. People with the jobs earlier ate living of revolving credit, snap, and maybe other forms of convenient assistance.

  So no, EVERY BOOMER didn’t make out, but the bar for “a good life” was multiple times lower than it is now. Now people who would be considered “rich” by boomers are middle-class today.

  I don’t think you can give an actual guesstimate. I think anyone trying is pretty much just bias or guessing. Most states are as big or bigger than European countries, which even inside of those you’ve got your shit ghettos and your super nice area.

  If you were to say cities in the US? That’s more possible. I’d say New York City, it’s by far the dirtiest city I’ve seen, even compared to to other major US cities like Chicago, LA, and Miami, ect. But like I said, state is kinda impossible. Upstate New York is like a different country.
