I’ll take on a metric fuckton of debt and blow it all on having fun and then die so I can stick the bill to the man

What time sloot are you trying to go for, they are usually cheaper before 4 pm, also look out for local indie theaters they are smaller but the tickets cost less and it’s a better atmosphere anyway

- Comment on As adults, do you still watch kids’ cartoons, either old or new? 1 week ago:
Like Saturday morning cartoons then no, I tried watching some old cartoons I grew up on like chip and dales recently on Disney+ and it made me realize how much they simplified the plots and dialogues for the kids, it was too boring for me. I do watch adult animation though and sadly so many people still think anything animated is just cartons for kids because of companies like Disney and Hana Barbera pushing that dynamic for all these years

This seems to be the case of software engineering industry in general, I’m hoping to get out of this field entirely in the next few years it’s become a shit hole

Tried does not work, they don’t remember the password to the password manager, they do not add new login they make while on the phone and it does not automatically capture the login details like it does on a computer browser
- Comment on Tech support for mum 2 weeks ago:
My parents drove me mad trying to remotely setup mom’s new phone, team viewer does not work on her phone so I have my dad hold the camera over the screen so I could see what they are doing, except dad keeps moving his hand so the screen does not fully remain in view and my mum doesn’t understand a single basic concept about smart phones and will drive me nuts asking me twice if she should do something I explicitly asked her to do, only to then find out she has no clue how to do it.

- Comment on [PlayStation] [DRM] Licenses now requires an online check-in every 30 days. 5 weeks ago:
I recently bought a Ebook from Bookshop.org thinking I could download and transfer it to my cracked Kindle and to support the author only to find out it is DRM locked and can only be read on their specific apps, so now I am asking for a refund and meanwhile downloaded a copy of the book throught other legal sources and enjoying it, all these lockin systems just screw over the people paying customers and just incentivize sailing the high seas, brain dead greedy pigs will dig their own grave and then pass the blame to others

That’s smart, it’s a form of dopamine loading, you deny yourself immediate rewards and that builds anticipation, also it lowers your baseline dopamine so that even small rewards feel meaningful, this way you stay off the headonism treadmill and conserve your weed which saves money

Like most of Neals books I found this book long and meandering, so I dropped it after a while, just wish he could better edit and pace his books. I enjoyed snow crash but every book of his I’ve tried since I could not finish.

Damn that must be scary in the moment, but also what an interesting experience, was that feeling of seeing the world with a new perspective temporary or do you feel it left any lasting impact?

I assume you mean ego death and not literal death
- Comment on Is it the American way to complain about the US, or is it that other countries aren't worth complaining about? 1 month ago:
People outside of a few countries don’t speak or read English all that much and hence would not be on primarily English speaking communities like lemmy, they have their own locally popular websites
