I have never played Dwarf Fortress but I thought it had name recognition, I guess the average COD, Fortnite type player might not have heard of some niche game like that

People don’t have the balls to come up to you in real life and say the stuff they say from a place of saftey and anonymity.

I’ve never heard of it before, is it only popular in some regions?
 - Comment on Why don't cars have a way to contact nearby cars like fictional spaceships do? 1 day ago:
Yeah no people are trash on average, I don’t want to get constantly pinged by trashy people while driving, I don’t even like proximity chat in games, imagine having that in real life, there’s a high chance of accidents happening due to distraction. Now if someone wants to add a little display on their car that can display some basic text messages, maybe that could be of some use

Yeah after Glenn’s death I was never able to forgive the show runners either and stopped watching it

Reminds me of the sublimed species in Ian Banks The Culture series

How do you find the time to play all these games, and the friends to play them with. After work and personal chores I feel like I have so little time left for myself I usually can’t bring myself to play anything other than a few short rounds of Dead By Daylight solo queue and I’m single right now, can’t imagine the situation if I had a family

Louis made a video explaining why they are doing this, currently anti consumer laws don’t even allow someone to publish a fix for things like this, tech lobbyists keep pushing this agenda that allowing people to repair their own devices is not necessary, the point of this bounty program is to gather data to show why right to repair is necessary so that they can take it to the courts as evidence and get those laws repelled

Just watched Inglorious Basterds yesterday, it put a smile on my face seeing those Nazi clowns turned into Swiss cheese

I go out of my way to boycot anything that aggressively pushes AI. Companies are so fucking desperate to throw people under the bus and replace their jobs with AI these days. I’ve seen literal job application forms asking you to mention how you use AI in your life, at this point in life I’m looking forward to WW3

 - Comment on And what car did you learn in? 4 days ago:
As someone who learned driving using a manual transmission car, automatic transmission is much better for city driving, I hated having to be careful with the clutch in stop and go city traffic, my left leg would get so sore after a while, plus I’ve stalled the engine more than once by letting the clutch go too fast.

Do people not understand all you need to do is remove the battery from the alarm and disconnect it from any power cables to make it stop beeping

Good, gaming was the last thing keeping me on windows, once I find a distro that’s compatible with my laptop hardware I’ll move to Linux completely

Are you saying if I’m on Lemmy.world I won’t be able to find subs that are part of other Lemmy instances?, I thought you could see all subs across all Lemmy instances, maybe I should make new accounts on other Lemmy instances then, which ones are popular?
 - Comment on Sad 1 week ago:
It’s sad how small Lemmy is compared to Reddit, there’s barely any subs compared to Reddit, are most of the Lemmy users non Americans?

I have the same issues with hot dogs. Why is the dog bigger than the bun, plus if you add a bunch of toppings then they can spill out.

Once the VC funding is gone and AI companies need to become profitable, I don’t see myself as an individual paying for some LLM, at best I’d try to setup a free LLM like deep seek on local hardware, but maybe corporations might pay for AI access for their employees if they think it provides some benefits, even if that’s not really true in the long run

I guess the original Subnautica was lightning in a bottle, maybe someday another studio will make a game that feels like Subnautica
 - Comment on #environmentalist 1 week ago:
I don’t care to, you’re not saving the planet using individual actions, especially as miniscule and performative as replacing plastic straws, it’s a propoganda created by corporate entities to create the idea that it’s your responsibility alone to save the planet and not theirs, only top down action from the government at a massive scale will have any measurable impact, one billionaire can undo any progress you’d make in your entire lifetime in a single year.
