I was trying so hard to figure out why these tweets look weird, thinking maybe they were just fake tweets… Turns out these are “threads” from Threads and that’s why they look weird, but ngl, I genuinely did not know anyone used Threads.
It was a simpler time

I am surprised every time I get reminded that Threads exist. Yet I know therapist friends who get a ton of clients from posting on there.

I bet a therapist could clean up on lemmy
TheTetrapod@lemmy.world 2 hours ago
It seems like it really caught on with the Instagram demographic, since they auto enrolled you into threads if you have an IG.
prettybunnys@piefed.social 10 hours ago
Instagram (and presumably other meta apps) push threads, you can accidentally sign up and be sent to download the app vv easily if you aren’t paying attention.
The ads for it are integrated better than ads.
CheesyFingers@piefed.social 8 hours ago
That and you can’t block them.

its full of random posts, and people Ratioing AI stuff with pictures of random stuff. Its a good place to be

Imagine the time changing twice a year for no fucking reason 😂
This message brought to you by a place that isn’t bonkers

There used to be a reason, for farmers to have more light in the morning.
Ghoelian@piefed.social 1 hour ago
Why cant farmers just set their alarm an hour earlier though, no need to drag everyone else into this
zerofk@lemmy.zip 2 hours ago
That’s a myth. Farmers in the US lobbied against the change. Animals and crops don’t care about the time, so it just meant they had to start work earlier on the clock.
Aneb@lemmy.world 2 hours ago
If you check farmers’ out they can still do the same amount of work in daylight hours.
Daylight savings’ history is actually more white than you think. The law was passed by politicians that just wanted to golf earlier. Farmers are commonly used as the excuse because every accusations is a confession.

Weak club that didn’t go past 2
volvoxvsmarla@sopuli.xyz 2 hours ago
Lol in Germany clubs have to get a special permit to allow the club to be open past 12 am on Halloween because November 1st you’re not allowed to dance. Having a legal party that went after 12 am on Halloween was radical back when I was a teen

“Southern Germany” - Hamburg, Berlin etc. dont care about All Hallows Day
ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 2 hours ago
It’s All Saints’. It’s also banned to show movies that mock religion like Life of Brian
popsalottacornsyrup@lemmy.world 6 hours ago
I don’t understand. Every Halloween there is a weekend before or after (well almost) where we in the US get another hour to drink at a bar. I did it for 15 years straight. And that was 15 years ago.
qarbone@lemmy.world 5 hours ago
I think the point is that it’s happening on Halloween…
ceenote@lemmy.world 9 hours ago
Aaand this is how I learned tomorrow is daylight savings.
Skipcast@lemmy.world 6 hours ago
It was last week in Europe (or Nordic countries anyway, not sure how consistent it is tbh)
stiephelando@discuss.tchncs.de 3 hours ago
It’s harmonized across the EU at least
Ghoelian@piefed.social 1 hour ago
I had no idea that happened until right now lol

BorgDrone@feddit.nl 9 hours ago
Where is this that the clock goes from 2 to 1? Here in Europe it always goes from 3 to 2 or from 2 to 3 when it goes in the other direction.

lividweasel@lemmy.world 8 hours ago
While you’re not wrong, it should be mentioned that the same thing happens in most of the rest of the country too.
zikzak025@lemmy.world 8 hours ago
It doesn’t really. It goes from 2:59 (DT) to 2:00 (ST). But if a place says they close at 02:00, I suppose they could choose to interpret that time as the second one.
In the spring, it goes from 1:59 (ST) to 3:00 (DT)
Aneb@lemmy.world 2 hours ago
Lol nope. My bar closed at 2/1am and told everyone to get tf out. I also work at 10 in the morning so its perfect for me
hefty4871@lemmy.ca 4 hours ago
Why do I have to be the pendentic one that says it’s daylight saving and not daylight savings.
zerofk@lemmy.zip 2 hours ago
If you’re being pedantic you should know how to spell pedantic.
BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 7 hours ago
I don’t understand what DST has to do with it?
PolarKraken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 hours ago
An extra hour appears in the middle of the night, while folks are partying, leading to some…extra-spooky haunting, ya might say.
zerofk@lemmy.zip 2 hours ago
Wait, you guys switch from 2 to 1? We switch from 3 to 2. Also on a different weekend, but I knew that already. This one is new to me.
mr_satan@lemmy.zip 1 hour ago
We do 4 to 3 and we did it last weekend since this Sunday is already November.
