- Comment on Stop Killing Games join lawsuit against the PlayStation Store's "Sony Tax," in latest venture beyond game preservation 1 week ago:
that Sony wields monopoly power by only making digital PlayStation games available through its own store
Isn’t this also the case with Xbox and Nintendo? AFAIK on those platforms you can also only buy games on their stores. Not saying that makes it okay, just wondering why they’re not being sued as well.

Care to explain pretty much anything from your comment? Why is the regular program not good? Why does it matter if you’re using it in the US? And which setting should I use instead? Should it be warmer, colder, less/more centrifuge?

I don’t get it. There aren’t waprincesses because waluigi and wario are in a relationship? What?
- Comment on Local Walmart just installed cameras in the aisles… 2 weeks ago:
I’m not defending anything lol, I’m just saying this surveillance doesn’t add a whole lot to the existing surveillance as far as I can tell, which is already pretty bad.
- Comment on Local Walmart just installed cameras in the aisles… 2 weeks ago:
The only part of that not really possible with ceiling cameras is eye tracking, you don’t need eye-level cameras for the other two.

That’s what I was thinking. If I saw a sign like this, with some mysterious text with no translation, I would definitely want to know what it says.

Or just pirate them, ezpz, especially if you already don’t morally agree with the publisher.

Huh, I always thought windows just had some dumb mechanism that let random USB devices show a popup or something, but this is even more stupid.

- Comment on Xbox needs to make a choice, says former PlayStation leader Shawn Layden: be a publisher or a platform, but you can't be both 5 weeks ago:
They publish their own games, so in that sense it’s true. I don’t think they’ve ever published a 3rd party game though.
Also, aren’t publishers mainly for marketing and that? Usually people are happiest when the publisher doesn’t involve itself in the development. That’s what the developers are for, after all.

Little weird to see astro bot in that list, isn’t that just one game that came out like 2 years ago? I don’t anyone is buying a PlayStation for the next astro bot.

I’ve worked at a company that used windows server and IIS for their internal hosting. Holy hell am I glad I haven’t had to touch that piece of garbage since I left. How can anyone take that mess seriously as a webserver?
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
i mean if microsoft changed its api linux gaming would halt
so would gaming on windows, as all games (and programs in general) have been built against the same APIs as wine/proton is.

But also not everyone with a .de domain lives in Germany. You can’t really accurately filter for this in a newsletter unless you know everyone’s location. So they just used the language, thinking that would catch most German citizens.

- Comment on Heroic former PC Gamer writer creates a script to banish all the AI features from Google Chrome 6 months ago:
I don’t think it was a user-agent thing. The nav menu would just functionally not work on other browsers. Iirc it just showed every menu in the expanded state. They probably used some IE exclusive JavaScript methods without any polyfills.
- Comment on Heroic former PC Gamer writer creates a script to banish all the AI features from Google Chrome 6 months ago:
At one of my previous employers, there was an intranet website where the nav menu would only work correctly in edge in IE compatibility mode. I’m not sure how they even managed this. I only used edge for that one website though, Firefox for everything else.

Iirc that’s quite literally part of the plot of 1984, keeping the general populace poor enough so they have netter things to worry about than whatever the fuck the state is doing.
