It was a weird childhood, I was 8 when Obama was installed as president. I remember people talking about George Bush Jr and the wars he started in Afghanistan and Al Qaeda. Big gap in between Obama’s presidency and then 2012 shooting of Sandy Hook. And abt every school shooting of the 2010s after that sadly. Also I really want to vote for Mitt Romney but I was 12 and brainwashed by my parents. Now that I’m on a form of obamacare I don’t remember any issues with him. I would re-elect for a third term

I loved when a class would get quiet enough to hear the seconds hand click on the mechanical motor. I lived to see how close it was to the end of minute. One time in class I counted how black dots were on the ceiling. Wow I was bored

Your story resonated with me and shared many pieces of my experience. I broke my left collarbone, its a good thing I’m a righty. I fell off my bike close to home so I chained it to a tree and walked up a massive hill cradling my arm, I screamed as I pulled off my shirt and hopped in a bath and decided it would be a tmr issue. I woke up without much pain, my body was probably processing the trauma still. I called my sister and she could hear me grating my teeth through the phone and she drove me to the medical center (which in America is the cheap alternative to ER). They sent me to the ER after - trigger warning - ::: spoiler spoiler Violently throwing up :::. There weren’t any orthopedic surgeons working on the weekend (what the hell). So on Monday morning I made 10-15 calls trying to find a doctor that was less expensive and “in network”. He took me two days later and did xrays and said the bone was displaced enough they could do surgery but he was being lazy and said I could let it heal by itself. I good to hear you recovered well! I’ve been applying to places for a cook position for abt two months before the incident. I like cooking and can’t cook for myself fully right now so my job hunt is on pause. I ran out of savings so I had to ask my estranged parents for some money while I’m recovering.

Hey thank you for your comment! I was treated really well by staff and doctors during my visit, no hate on the medical profession. The nurse who was assigned to my room even encouraged me to look into a healthcare professional after I told her I was unemployed. Thank you for your service! Healthcare is not an easy profession especially since covid hit the US. But fuck private insurance that shit can implode for all I care

An average draft goes for $7-11 dollars in my city. And the $11 drafts are served in a smaller chalice than the cheaper stuff. I usually buy a 12 pack of beer for $24 from the store and get drunk at home when I can afford it.

You guys are only working 8hrs? What a life to have. The company I use to work for extended their store hours in 6pm so 8-6 was typical with no overtime pay. Woww saying this out loud really makes me want to unionize.

And that is all I’ve ever wanted, but not having a bachelor’s degree and two masters means I’m unemployable to 90% of corporations. I have been coding since I was 14 but that doesn’t matter in terms of experience on job applications. After 11 years of dead end jobs that I could never live off, I’m living with my older sister who has a bachelor’s degree and 2 masters and owns her house. So that how lifting yourself up by your bootstraps goes, a very common American myth is that something comes from nothing.

This is my easy hamburger helper recipe in case people want real food. I skip the box and throw paprika and onion and garlic powders on my ground beef, brown it. Add ziti noodles, or anything I have, add beef stock and water. Let the pasta become tender, abt 7-8 mins. And throw in a huge glob a sour cream and mix it in. Salt as needed, skip the sodium spike

Welcome to unregulated capitalism. I was screamed at by my managers all the fucking time when I made $13/hr with 35 hours of paid sick, that never rolled over and counted as vacation time. Now I make nothing and I only scream at myself. I’ll take a win where I can get one

In most states the guardians can pay insurance for their dependent up until 25, at least for healthcare and the parents are probably extending that to their son’s car insurance, generously. My mom kicked me off her plan when I was 23, but I’ve always had to pay for my car’s insurance

Its literally the plot of the Good Place, there is no ethical and moral consumption under capitalism. We need a well regulated economy if we want the middle class to grow again, still not ethical but it would put food in my stomach.

There’s a huge problem with queer spaces being consolidated into 2-3 spots. Queer people live in every neighborhood making up 20-30% in my city but we have to travel 30 mins to an overcrowded bar with expensive alcohol. While there’s 20-40 straight pubs on my route. While I could opt to erase my identity and it’d be easier to find affordable places to hang it’s just bullshit after bullshit. My city had so many gay clubs in 90s and now we just have Club Pitt. Also after queer sports leagues my teams always wind up at bar so there’s no winning

I’m a gay man afraid of gay bars because men think they can just touch you because you’re at bar drinking alcohol.

I literally told my mom that I was affected by doge spending cuts in multiple ways that make my current life unmaintainable. I can’t afford a 400% in my insurance premium. I use buses and doge cut the grant to my city that kept them fully operational; my city cut routes and reduced buses on the routes they tried to keep on top of freezing the wage for their workers for 4 years of the worst inflation America will see. And she’s just like “I’ll vote for Trump again, at least he is not a woman”

I planted my garden this year and then had that realization, so I divorced my husband and lost my garden. I went back and grabbed all the veggies from it 3 months later: some small potatoes, some peppers, small onions, and I grabbed my baby strawberry plants that survived the summer without regular watering. My ex has admitted he let my garden die. Be the change you want to see in the world
