NGL I was very mixed on this episode. It seems they included something for everyone to hate. A sort of grandfather paradox that justifies planetary genocide that just gets shrugged off being mine. I can see others riled up about bad ass women punching a dinosaur (though that was a high point for me), robbing and ignoring crashed insectoid alien colony ships on earth pre cretaceous, magical teleportation by quantum entanglement, ancient aliens, planet x references, doctor who easter eggs, spock just shrugging like yeah could blow us up there are no numbers so Idk fly into the explosion, the cartoonish sfx especially the trees.
Not every episode of SNW is perfect but i have loved pike the series as a whole up to now. Why include such dangerous and heavy concepts if you’re just going to handwave them as necessary for the survival of your species? Its giving “at least the trains ran on time” in practice.

Had an LLM tell me when brainstorming an issue to ‘try x y z and talk to me the whole time’ like it was a 911 operator. creepy as hell especially considering I interact with it like the computer on star trek and not like a digital friend.
I pit together a risks and realities training for users new to AI that highlights the ways it manipulates you with language to bias you towards its output or performance. Its pretty eye opening for many. Did a dry run with a professional development group and there are a lot of old ladies worried about their son or grandkids AI psychosis.

One time I returned a single coconut because the inside was completely moldy and the lady behind me accused me of drinking the water and returning the flesh… I was like lady I have a job i don’t even care about the 2 bucks. I just figured how else are they going to know that they got a bunch of bad coconuts if I don’t come leave a record. Im not trying to run a scam for moldy fruit water.
She actually said that makes sense and dropped it but I was shocked… like you really think someone laundering coconut water one fuzzy nut at a time?

I think there is a lot to be said for the emotional load someone like Hasan deals with. We are talking thousands of death threats and vitriol, swatting, psyops, debate bros etc etc. The soul sucking is mental and different, not going to assume this was him saying he has it harder like this out of context meme is trying to portray.

- Comment on What is the best way to drop 50lbs in two months without spending alot and no fad diets? 5 months ago:
It does depend on your tdee total daily energy expenditure and BMR base metabolic rate but all the legit info you can find would suggest you talk to a doctor before going below 1500. If I recall correctly you can start to lose muscle and bone density, and bone density doesn’t come back.

Assuming you’re a male, you should not drop below 1500 cal a day, it can cause permanent issues.

Ah that may be, guess I shoulda read the question better.
- Comment on Why do companies always need to grow? 9 months ago:
The reason cited even in privately held companies is pretty much because everyone else is doing it.
Their COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) rises every year. The markup on licenses, the physical hardware, the shrinkflation from the manufacturer, and COLA (Cost of Living Adjustments) for staff all cut into the operating expenses (or profit) of the company.
Under capitalism there are hardly any checks to this, so even companies that are not seeking to grow must raise rates else they will take a loss every year.

My dad hated onions, he’d pick them out of his meals like a 5 year old. One day after I found a love for cooking in highschool this happened and he decided to try my dishes. He was very proud that he only picked out 3 onion pieces and kept the rest lol.
