Sweet summer child…are we talking exclusively in boring meme language now? Is this the level of discourse on this site? Disappointing. All I was saying was that overturning reds is not unprecedented and the cheeto demon should not be given sole credit, much as he wants it.
I love it when people who can’t play sports argue with me about them. Coed game is on Thursday, come play with me and then we can talk.

The problem with the current Brazil team is that they all play like jugglers. Like yeah man it’s super cool that you can pull nifty tricks while you’re juggling with your friends at the beach, but that’s not the game you’re in now so lock in

My thinking was that it may have/should have been overturned anyway since it was a bad initial call, but the orange wanted to put his name on it and everyone is giving him too much credit. I genuinely believe they would have rescinded the red regardless of him and he just had to put his rancid stank all over it.
I played all growing up, in college, and in coed leagues post-college and to this day. A couple of my friends were opining about different calls nd it made me realize one of the quickest ways to get me mad is to talk about a game you can’t even play. I know ball. It was the right decision and also the US team looked like clowns. I was at the game and nearly got heatstroke and they never deserved to even get this far but can we stop giving credit to the slug man?

My cats don’t care at all. Fireworks are fun, and if dogs can’t handle that then they’re stupid. I set off a bunch of the big ones that are illegal but can be sold on reservations (I think? I didn’t buy them) for my birthday out in the rural flat middle of nowhere and it was so cool. We had the hardest time lighting them because of the wind and then when we finally got it going we had to sprint away so fast, and we were laughing our asses off. Good mems. TL;DR fuck yo sensitive dumbass dogs

Exactlyyyy. It’s basically rent to the state. We have sales tax in this state too and why are we paying taxes on home valuations when the home isn’t being sold. The house is probably going to be sold for a nursing home and bye bye inheritance for me. I wonder when this bubble is going to burst. Only my wealthiest friends anticipate getting a substantial amount from their parents.
I want to have a child but I don’t feel I can give them what they need. I would never pressure my family members to do what benefits me most, but I secretly wish that my mom would retire in Taiwan, where she was born, where she’ll have family and it might be kinder. Retiring in the US seems like the biggest grift. I won’t bring it up unless she brings up grandchildren and then I’ll say I can’t swing it unless she retires in a more affordable country. Now nobody is happy

Even your house is a subscription in the US. My mom has to pay over $10,000 yearly in property taxes of her house that’s been paid off for over a decade. If she dies (she’s healthy so not soon, but as a hypothetical) I inherit a house I can’t afford the maintenance and taxes on. What are the luxuries? Netflix? That’s passé. We can all cancel Prime, that’s not the point.
Any new tech is a subscription unless you do all you can to research it and make sure it only connects to your network.There is very little that people want and is easy to not have, unless you want to live a very bare-bones life. Cue Karl Marx quote about going to the pub.

I reject the concept of automatically taking a partner’s last name, as a woman. I also don’t want my father’s, for personal and professional reasons. It’s wack that we have all collectively agreed that a woman trades ownership and a large part of her identity when married. He should have to do it. I know a woman with the last name Palo who changed her name to something I find ugly when she got married and it ticks me off. It’s sexism for her to change it and not him, but we all ignore it?
I will change my name to a partner’s if they have an awesome last name, but I can’t wait on a hypothetical partner. I actually do know a couple women in my line of work who have ethnic last names that have confused patients. Einstein would be funny but I dare not.

I love that, it sounds so classy. I don’t mind if people say things that get old. With my first name, I learned a long time ago to not get annoyed by it, because I would always get “like the spy?” I secretly think a little less of people who say that. Then again, I knew a guy, absolutely beautiful in a gay mysterious way, and told him he looked like a Twilight vampire, and he gave me this withering look and was like “Yeah, I’ve heard that.” So I was the annoying one to someone else with the same problem ahshhahhfhhahhbhhhhhh

Thank you and I appreciate the sentiment. It’s just like if someone comes in for Dr. Chen they might feel some type of way when they see me because I don’t look Asian and need to call the translator. Maybe my last name should be Rootless or Rudderless

I went into this field so I could wear PJs to work lol.
This is a whole nother post but the funding is not coming through and I think my lab at the cancer center might close. I’ve been begging my PhDs to go on the local news and kick up a little fuss, but they are camera-shy, and I would be comfortable being on camera but I don’t have knowledge of the ins and outs the way they do. So nobody is comfortable and knowledgeable enough to be the face of our lab. We need a charismatic leader and can’t find one amongst our ranks.

I graduated last month and I’m doing a research year before applying for residency so yes I do have my certification, but I am not in a place to give advice to others.
