Direct messages on Lemmy (and most Fediverse platforms) are not end-to-end encrypted, which means that it’s stored in plain.
For example, your instance admin could theoretically see your private messages. I don’t think they check it tho, but if that’s a concern for you, then you should not share any sensitive details in your DMs. Also, don’t worry: random people cannot see it
Matrix is way better for that: it’s a decentralized communication platform, end-to-end encrypted, so only you and your recipient can read the messages.
I think it’s kinda the “Fediverse of messaging”

Imo, this heavily depends on the usage of AI: if you use it for everything, even for things you could do yourself, then yes, obviously that’s just stupid.
However, if you use it as a tool to help you, but don’t use it to replace your brain, Internet or whatever, then I think this is perfectly fine!

UPDATE the logo at the top of the watermark appears to be from a chinese social media called “Xiaohongshu”, and the phone’s screen content exactly match this social’s interaface.
After reverse-searching some images, I found out this was taken on Jul 16, 2026, by the user 挽歌 (@lun060530) on X, which seems to be the same user that appears on the phone
So I am now pretty sure this was taken on this date!

I believe this picture was taken after 2022, cause we can see Apple’s dynamic island on the phone at the bottom, and it was introduced on september 2022.
I’d even say after 2024, I saw someone on reddit ask what model it is 1yr ago, because he saw it on tiktok, and someone managed to find it and provided an aliexpress link. However, it doesn’t work anymore and return a 404, and wasn’t archived by the wayback machine, so I cannot really find anything really interesting here
