Now this is vintage. I miss memes like this and rage comics.
Very helpful. 10/10 đ

Stirring coffee like a pestle and mortar, (this is fine meme)

I get this with people who donât understand âsay it slower and more clearly.â Then they say it with the same volume and still mumble.
TheDoozer@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
One of my biggest pet peeves that sets me off a little every time is when I saw âwhatâ and they say it again at the same volume and speed.
Then I glare at them for two seconds, and loudly and slowly say âWWWHHHAAAAAATTT?â and they act affronted for having to repeat themselves again.
Demdaru@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I raise you same volume and speed but bigger distance (they walked to the fridge or decided to grab something quick)
LodeMike@lemmy.today â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I just say I canât hear them
TherapyGary@lemmy.blahaj.zone â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
I get this a lot with other languages, but especially Spanish. I sound like Iâm fluent, but I canât understand it when spoken back to me for shit
punkwalrus@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Same with Swedish, although depending on the accent, I can hear some clearer that others.

I had a computer science professor who taught mathematical induction with one example proof. I didnât get it, so I went to office hours, and she painstakingly went through the same example proof. I didnât get it.
Then I went to the library on found Donald Knuthâs The Art of Computer Programming. I think it was the very first chapter that did the trick.
ProfessorHoover@infosec.pub â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Thatâs like not understanding a sermon so you go straight to the bible. TAOCP is such a dense book. I wonder if Knuth will ever finish it.

âWhatâ sometimes means you didnât hear and sometimes means you didnât understand, but you make me guess and yell at me if I guess wrong.
Grail@multiverse.soulism.net â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
You did not hear? Let Me say something completely different
trashman@feddit.org â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Oh, you must be missing the basics. So let me explain the most obvious shit, but only till I get to my previous point, without repeating it, of course
crenquis@lemmy.today â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
âŚbut, louder.

I remember when I was learning negative numbers the first time our mat teacher was giving us problems like -2 + 6 or whatever for practice. Nobody else was answering so I did a few and after I got them right he was like âHowâd you figure it outâ and I told him the smaller number cancelled out part of the bigger number. He was like no thatâs wrong and was a dick about it. To this day I donât remember what the real explanation was because I was pissed but it really put me off that dude when he did that after I had just demonstrated that I understood how to do the problems multiple times.
Never had good luck with math teachers in grade school.
spacegoat@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Let me go over this trivial math topic so many times that you lose the ability to learn math before proceeding to a much more difficult concept
LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Hi me, its you!
wpb@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Do you ever reread the same sentence in a book? Does it ever help?
Jankatarch@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
For textbooks âŚkinda? Rereading the paragraph after looking at the questions works nicely.
sundray@lemmus.org â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
âLook, I donât get it myself, and Iâve got 50 other kids with rivers of lead flowing through their veins that I have to deal with. Youâre just going to have to take the L on this one.â
UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
Wouldnât happen to me. Iâd simply understand better.
Agent641@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
But louder this time!
Mulligrubs@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
What an idiot. You YELL the explanation, thatâs the secret; this works especially well for those who donât speak the same language.
jaybone@lemmy.zip â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
If that language is Spanish, you add âoâ at the end of every word.
bstix@feddit.dk â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
And in Japanese you add the o in the middle: Sand-o-wich
lama@lemmy.world â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
DO YOU SPEAKO ENGLISH?
Grail@multiverse.soulism.net â¨2⊠â¨weeks⊠ago
