I like how he’s not even trying besides the braids. He at least used to have dirtbag energy. Now he’s just some dad but with shitty pigtails for some reason
ghostlychonk@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I never would have guessed that was Kid Rock.
wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 1 year ago
That’s not Kid Rock, that’s Elderly Pebble.

Music legend? He’s white trash Fred Durst.
the_tab_key@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Isn’t Fred Durst also white trash Fred Durst?
_stranger_@lemmy.world 1 year ago
They’re both playing up and aesthetic, but bonerpill up there is oblivious to the fact that his time has passed.
Limp Bizkit’s last album was 2021 after working on it for 9 years, was called “Still Sucks” and had new music. They’re working on their next one now.
Kid Rock released “Greatest Hits: You Never Saw Coming” in 2018 with zero new music and has done nothing since.
I’m not a fan of either but at least one of them is doing work instead of grifting.
daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Nah, he ain’t white trash. He’s just cringe.
BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 year ago
Definition of redundancy, right there.
omgboom@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 year ago
“music legend” is going a little bit far lol. He had a handful of okay songs 2 and half decades ago.
FardyCakes@lemmy.world 1 year ago
You misspelled “he sucks.”
Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I literally only know him for one song. I have no arguement against him being called a one hit wonder.
Drewmeister@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I think he had two (cowboy and bawitdaba), so I’m sure he’d be offended at being called a one hit wonder.
Dorkyd68@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Music legend?? Dude had like 2 hit songs 20 years ago
aesthelete@lemmy.world 1 year ago
One of those hits was basically just a fan fiction based upon sweet home Alabama.
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 year ago
there were two!?
gmtom@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Don’t forget the theme song to Osmosis Jones where he sings about wanting to fuck minors.
Prox@lemmy.world 1 year ago
Look, the dude’s an asshole. He shouldn’t be on any talk show because his personal views are not worth listening to. But he has also sold 26 million albums, which is enough to count pretty much anyone as a “music legend”.
BigBananaDealer@lemmy.world 1 year ago
hes credited with pretty much birthing the country-rap genre that has exploded in recent years. id say creating a genre is pretty legendary. and he had i think 3 hits just off of devil without a cause and a couple more after that and even before he blew up in popularity he was a detroit legend. there was a time he was giving advice to eminem himself on enunciating his words more clearly so everyone can understand what hes saying
Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
I’m from Detroit, people have mixed feelings for him and always have. Gonna need a citation on the Eminem bit, who is nearly universally liked in Detroit.
causepix@lemmy.ml 1 year ago
He isn’t even from Detroit. He grew up on a fucking apple orchard in a 1.3 million dollar home, with a guest house and a horse stable. Of course he’s a shithead.
BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 year ago
THAT’S Kid Rock? Looks like a guy who will yell at kids just for riding their bikes past his house, while holding a shotgun.
Tuxman@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
Well…… that can ALSO be Kid Rock
BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 year ago
Valid
Tehhund@lemmy.world 1 year ago
In fairness, he’s always looked like a national spokesperson for gas station boner pills. He just looks like it even more now.

He’s grown into his image, like that weird kid in school that finally grew into his giant head.

The last time I liked Kid Rock was 1998.
CaptPretentious@lemmy.world 1 year ago
I think you mean '99
Due the storm of ‘Bawitdaba’, ‘Only God Knows Why’, and ‘Cowboy’ being released that year and Napster.
Zink@programming.dev 1 year ago
Oh yeah, Woodstock '99 was his peak!
Looking back through my spotty memories, it’s like Kid Rock had his rise in the late 90s and then vanished from the face of the earth after I saw him at Woodstock '99.
…well then they resurrected the brand a decade or two later to help elect the worst person on the planet to the most powerful job on the planet.

Back in the day kid rock made music that pissed off your parents. Now kid rock makes music your parents love.
SleeplessCityLights@programming.dev 1 year ago
I don’t remember his music ever being cool or edgy. It was like drinking lacroix when soda is available.
djehuti@programming.dev 1 year ago
Whoa, is he heterochromatic? Never noticed before. (Then again, I try to be exposed to him as little as possible.)
djehuti@programming.dev 1 year ago
Answer: no, this is just a terrible picture.

Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
Bawitaba was big on the radio back in the 90s when I was a dumb kid.
We liked it because it had an anti authoritarian sound on some tracks:
‘Paint the town red, and paint the sheriff’s wife white’.
That got a giggle from us.
The tracks in between were lack luster, even alt-country.
The next album was a no-buy.
Rcklsabndn@sh.itjust.works 1 year ago
He had a bit role in Joe Dirt as well, that my friend group was super in to the year it released for some reason. We weren’t even southern or country, I think we just liked mocking the aforementioned designations.
Tartas1995@discuss.tchncs.de 1 year ago
I am serious!
I know the name kid rock. I don’t know a single song of his, like I don’t know that it is his at least. And while I have seen his face recently, I couldn’t tell you who that people in the meme was without the label.
I seriously don’t know that guy at all. I am not denying his legend title to be mean or rude to him. I just think I would know a music legend.
