- Comment on If I publish my memoir and wrote about every bad thing people did to hurt me while the people mentioned are still alive, how much trouble could I get in? 1 day ago:
In many civilized countries the names of criminals are not published, the reason is to protect family (especially offspring, spouse) from harassment by the press and overeager civilians. Several studies showed this does work.

Here some ideas. You could be sued, but what is equally bad is that they might take revenge in some other way, everybody has a weak spot, and they can find it. Why would you want to hurt these people anyway, time has passed. The best revenge is to not mention them at all, especially for big egos being ignored is the worse punishment. As long as you write about facts, they can’t sue, e.g. this guy fired me may be fine (if factually 100% true), but he seduced my boyfriend is tricky (it may be true, but hard to proof /disproof). You may consider changing all the names, places etc, and turn it into a book of fiction.
- Comment on Has Canada's government done anything concrete to reduce dependence on the US since Trump took office? Maybe even since the first term? 3 days ago:
Due to globalization, all economies of the world are intertwined. Short term steps will be small; also the effects by customer boycotts. Yet, behind the curtains, the damage is done, as all former partners of the USA have begun to look for cooperations elsewhere. This “psychological damage” acts long term and will be huge.

I would first try an overarching mission and vision, it gets too complex very quickly.
- Comment on Where are the marketing volunteers? 4 days ago:
The easy answer: create a community “how to get to 1,000,000 Lemmy users” and let the swarm come up with and implement ideas. In real life, this means that the mission and vision of Lemmy must be defined, based on that a positioning and messaging document must be prepared, which also describes the user profile(s). You would need to define the Unique Selling Point USP of Lemmy, and an elevator pitch. All these assets build on each other. Then you could start to create campaigns targeted at non-users, eg on other platforms, mastodon, X(!), Reddit (!), etc… draw them in with the assets and statements described above. I have done this with dozens of companies. All quite exciting, imagine a couple of tweets on X “looking for more freedom? Join Lemmy today!” Works well, takes effort, doesn’t need to cost €€€.

I don’t want to ruin this “great” joke, but don’t you mean cuboids? In a cube all sides are equal in length.
- Comment on I’m not saying that I agree with right- or center-wing views, and I do condemn transphobia. However, do you think there should be a distinction between critiquing beliefs held by transgender people, and engaging in transphobia? 1 week ago:
The entire discussion is exasperating. It’s a free world, people should do what they want.
- Comment on What's it going to take to truly stop the US? 1 week ago:
The issue is that invading another country isn’t allowed. And what’s next: the invasion of Denmark (Greenland) or Canada by the USA… it suddenly seems more probable… nah, won’t happen, you’ll say, different situation. I don’t believe you and I stopped trusting Trump before his first term.
- Comment on Is this true for Germans? 2 weeks ago:
No, this isn’t true, but it fits the British and US stereotyping (dating back to +/- 1946) quite well.

Does it then continue with a bongo and the words uhhu uhhu uhhu or with a soft guitar play and a whistling-kind of sound?

This is a US site - these tips are not applicable for most washing machines here, which focus on hour long soaking at room temperature, to reduce energy and detergent waste.
