- Comment on Does anybody actually work from 09:00 to 17:00 1 week ago:
If I wanted to I could do 9h to 17h, but 8h45 to 16h45 fits better with my commute, so I go with that.

- Comment on Science is iterative 3 weeks ago:
I thought it was more about how complicated and expensive they were to fit in the engine package. For little gains, it was a waste of budget cap.

- Comment on Fallout: New Vegas dev says don't expect a remaster, argues Bethesda doesn't have the source code or 'the engineering knowhow' 5 weeks ago:
To push a release for a game you need to package it. It’s one thing to have no more ci/cd, you could technically build, package, and deploy on a workstation. But without source you can’t even do that because the build system is part of the source code. A game is a few hundred gigs of pure data and it needs to be packed to make it playable.

Eventually you will want to change the lighting or fix a high severity bug. You need the source to recompile or repackage.

The last 75 years of nothing is because of Neoliberalism. It is not conventially profitable to spend government funds on scientific exploration. Government funds are used to counter tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations. Along with just stealing the money through various means.

I was talking to someone and they were saying that the solders on these adapters always suck and it creates more work. Is there any truth to that? I have 6 games I want to do this on.

After work do you say to yourself “work work work for money money money”, because those are the vibes you are giving off.
- Comment on Usually a horrible interaction for all involved 3 months ago:
One Friday I had to go into to the office for an early meeting. Walked in the, saw my boss, my boss’ boss, HR, and an owner. I just said Fuck out loud and was immediately reassured that it is not what it looks like. They were laying people off, some of which were my friends. IT will always know before hand, we have to deactivate people’s access in a way they don’t notice until they get their meetings/calls. It does not feel good.

I have found they are the most likely to have lower computer literacy than they need to be for their job. It’s not optional, no SysAdmin should have to babysit someone.

- Comment on How far do you wear your daily shoes out before bothering to replace them? 4 months ago:
One of two things, which ever happens first. The tread wears and a part goes all the way to the sole or the tread wears and I fall down on the hill by work when it is raining or snowing.
