I haven’t been to cinema since revenge of the sith
Sorry, I don’t believe you’ve avoided movies for 20 years because “they aren’t making good movies” but refer to that movie as a 10/10, non-corpo slop. Messa thinks you’re lying.
Inglourious Basterds, The Departed, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Interstellar, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Grand Budapest Hotel, 12 Years a Slave, Django Unchained … fuck off with that excuse. And since you stopped on Star Wars, we can throw in several MCU movies (not all, but several). The cultural impact alone that Avengers: Endgame had by itself cannot be understated.
Beyond that, the sheer number of times you’ve defended these kids’ actions, this director’s comments… with “Who cares about it in this context?” like it’s a new phrase you’re really trying to get mileage out of… you’re way too invested.

I’m going to guess, in this context, you’re one of the kids that gave into the hype and made a mess and is now trying to validate your actions.
- Comment on Do you use your blinker in a car? 5 days ago:
I use them 100% of the time. Which yes, includes my own driveway.
You should train yourself to use them automatically instead of a manual step. Like a reflex.
And if you’re at a light and you plan to turn, you have that blinker going. Even if it’s a long red light, even if you think no one is around.
- Comment on Straight people, do you know what the Grindr notification sound is? 5 days ago:
I now know it due to this post. 100% will never remember it. Sounds like a very generic notification.

IMO, maybe a jerk, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I think more people need to hear news they don’t want to hear from someone they trust.
What I’ve told most teens looking at the future post high school is, have more then one career/life goal. When I was in middle school, I thought I wanted to be a professional chef. Only to discover I like cooking. I love cooking for friends/family… I loathed the toxic “professional” setting (especially thanks to Gordan Ramsey, who 20 years ago glamorized being a right jackass in the kitchen, pretending that was acceptable). Now I’ve worked in IT for nearly 2 decades and what I’ve done in my field has changed a lot.
I think lying to him and saying, “You can be anything, you can do anything, you’re amazing!!!” type of parenting is going to lead to problems if/when the plan doesn’t work out and they have no fallback. Personally, coddling your kid and lying to them just because it’s a short-term positive emotion (or you’re afraid of saying the truth), IMO is bad parenting. You’re not there to make sure they get the “right feels” or to be their best friend. You prepare them for the real world. Final note: you hear a lot of professional sports players say “I had a deal with my parents that if <sport> didn’t work out, I’d do <something else>.”

I will always recommend the game. But holding to a budget is not important.
- Comment on Do tell!!! 5 weeks ago:
Yeah, that method isn’t intended for enterprise work. But someone who isn’t technical can use it to help figure out what’s going on. Not a single person I’ve ever helped with wifi issues wants to map out things with a wifi analyzer. But ask them to use music and people are far more interested. Even as a thought process since (most) people understand how sound works, if they start thinking of wifi as “noise” they can better understand it.
- Comment on Do tell!!! 1 month ago:
Wifi is just radio. So, having your access point or wifi enabled router surrounded by things is bad for your wifi experience.
To a certain degree, you can do a “poor-mans” way of figuring out how good your wifi would be by just putting a speaker where the wifi should be coming from, then go someplace else in the building and ask yourself, “Can I hear the music still?”. You get an idea of how the wifi is moving about. (Keep in mind, it’s not perfect, but if you don’t want to use apps or specialized equipment and want to wing it… this will work in a pinch). Sound is better than light because wifi will penetrate walls/floors/etc, where light won’t, so you can listen against said surfaces and close doors, etc, to get a general idea of things.

You probably call them nasty people, probably say how he always knew, how you can’t trust them. Claim he would never act like that. Then probably put travel restrictions in place to prevent them from coming here and tariffs.

Now I understand all those videos of guys thinking it’s a covid test and getting mad. That looks almost identical to a covid tester I had.
You should see a doctor for better confirmation. My understanding has been, if you see positive on the test, see the doctor for actual confirmation since various things can throw the at home testers off.

It didn’t refer to funding. It’s marketing only. If you ask 100 what does AAA in video games, you’ll get a wide breadth off answers, because it’s not a real term, but it sounds good and people will make up their own definition or repeat one they heard.

- Comment on How did a simple phone call become so problematic? 2 months ago:
For me I hate phone calls because it’s someone demanding I drop what I’m doing to address whatever they want. Keep in mind, 99% of phone calls I get are at work form co-workers.
The number of “quick calls” that are actually quick I can count on 1 hand, and still have room for more. I have tasks to accomplish, things to do. And I’m spread so thin between all the things I do, there’s a fair chance I’m going to forget something about what you asked/told me. If it’s in text form I can review it when I loop back to it. You need me to check/validate/run something, cool. I have record of what, when, and if I completed it. Just because you have a question does not make it an emergency on my part.
As for my phone phone, the only folks who ever call me are either telemarketers or scams. If a friend called I’d probably answer (if I have the time). But I think most of my friends are in the same boat, we have so much to do these days (non-recreation) that it’s just not easy to find time. A lot of my friends have side-hustles or a second job or are in class (like me) in order to stay competitive. When I was a kid, I remember my parents could unwind at the end of the day, friends would just come over to hang out. It just ain’t like that no more.

I don’t know what you hope to accomplish with these memes other than pushing people to the right… Like is that the goal? Because it seems like that’s the goal. It’s a constant strawman fallacy with the same bullshit format the far right uses in their memes.

If those are regular old school incandescent bulbs connected to six lava lamps, and that light fixture is connected to a dimmer switch you may want to rethink that. You may want to check what the wattage for your dimmer is and if you don’t know I would recommend staying at or below 300 Watts total (more as a personal rule of thumb).

Terrible idea. People clearly already struggling at naming kids. Coming up with a family name will be endless letters making the wrong sound, random sections being ‘silent’, so many puns or references to things, corporate advertising “oh it’s the X.com family!”… Terrible, just terrible.

The Alters isn’t out yet. Expected release Q1 2025. It’s on my wish list because I love the demo.
Indika they were just the publisher. On top of which, maybe has a story that not everyone is interested in. I watched these guys play it, youtu.be/MuiHtAYOqgI and while it’s creative and it’s overall a fantastic game, is not one I’m going to play myself.
The Thaumaturge, again they are just the publisher. I hadn’t even heard of this one which means as the publisher they did a terrible job marketing it.
