So this reminds me of when I was taking my CCW class and going over hypotheticals and legal ramifications.
One scenario was you see a kid opening your fridge would you shoot the kid. Now there was a church group there that was also taking the class with us and a few of them raised their hands and one was called.
His answer was yes.
My group I was with all looked at each other and went WTF and just shook our heads, raised our hands and went of freaking course not because morally it would be soooo wrong even if it was legally okay.

I’m also from Texas and can count the number of responsible gun owners with one hand. I understand why we need to be armed; still there are a lot of people that shouldn’t. Your story reminds of that shooting that happened at a church that happen to have the good guy with a gun ^tm^. There was some talk about allowing some people to be armed at the church I was going to with my parents at the time. Some members and the pastor went to some event with a lawyer talking about some stuff around it and I joined out of curiosity. The overall meeting was pretty mehh, but there was a nice tangent about how much you can drink and still have your gun and ammo. Some cop that was in attendance tried to call them stupid, but they pushed back that its okay if you only drink such percent drink per hour or remove the receiver. Not a great look for the cream of the crop.

In understand why we need to armed;
I don’t. Why?
Geodad@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Not according to the bible. Elisha called bears to maul kids for making fun of his bald head.
stupidcasey@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Is this about the kids that got shot playing ding dong ditch the other day?
FosterMolasses@leminal.space 4 hours ago
Ah fuck, I was really hoping this was a random meme and not related to anything topical.
Guess that’s too much to ask for these days, unfortunately. Grim times.
meliaesc@lemmy.world 1 day ago
There was another one where the guy got in his car, chased them down, and ran them off the road. 3 murders charges.

Lmao as if boomers are that young…
Bosht@lemmy.world 19 hours ago
I think boomer has morphed to fit a certain selection of people which basically means ‘old and out of touch’.
bytesonbike@discuss.online 5 minutes ago
Boomer is no longer a age range, it’s a personality.
Like Karen.

Cass said the boy’s death did not appear to involve self-defense because the shooting “wasn’t close to the house.”
JFC…
As ding-dong-ditch pranks surged after being posted to TikTok, other injuries have been documented in recent years.
Yeah… boy what did we ever do without tiktok lol. Fuck off.
chaogomu@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Ding dong ditching used to surge whenever that one episode of the Simpsons played.
Because kids will be kids.
The injuries and deaths seem more linked to adults losing their God damn minds watching Fox News

To be fair it was a millenial (42 year old) who did that. Still horrible. But yeah.
Alaik@lemmy.zip 1 day ago
I wanna say he was late gen X or xillenial, but ill freely admit I just don’t want my generation to take credit for his dumb ass.
AlexLost@lemmy.world 18 hours ago
It’s more than just dumb. It’s senseless. You gotta divorce yourselves from the love of the gun, cause this is never going to stop until you do. If it’s acceptable to you, carry on. Nothing to see here.
MoreFPSmorebetter@lemmy.zip 1 day ago
Man… My parents used to kick us outta the house in the morning. They would tell us we could come back inside for lunch around noon but then we had to leave again. We would bike around and get into all kind of shenanigans. Call them from a payphone and instead of saying our name for the call we would just tell them where we were super fast and then they would hear that and decline the call lmao.
As long as we came home before the sun went down or we called them from a friend’s house to get approval for a sleep over they didn’t really care what we did all day. Good times.
BastingChemina@slrpnk.net 1 day ago
Replace the gun with a car.
How much of the “outside” can a kid access today without taking the risk of being it by a car ? As soon as he crosses the door of the house he risks his life.

Bad straw man, bad.
astutemural@midwest.social 1 day ago
Not really, no.
Firearms and cars are the top two causes of death for children in the USA.

Two scenes after Carl is mildly inconvenienced by happy children:
“Hey where everybody going? The party’s just getting started!” As he’s surrounded by 3 whoorse he’d enlisted for the evening. Each more busted than the last.

I did this a lot as a kid. One time I went too far and my neighbor threw me up on a fence. He told me if I ever did it again, he would whip with a belt.
MehBlah@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Ding Dong ditch was knocking or ringing the doorbell and hauling ass away. These dipshits were beating and kicking on the door in a state where you can legally shoot through the door. Agree or disagree with that but if you live there you shouldn’t be so stupid.
Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 1 day ago
These dipshits were beating and kicking on the door
Where did you read that? All I’ve read so far was that they knocked and ran.
MehBlah@lemmy.world 23 hours ago
It was stated in the very first article I read. It was a local news site.
Alaik@lemmy.zip 23 hours ago
You got a source on that? Depending on the time of night that changes the story a lot.

This is so freaking real. Some old folks seem to want that kids just stay still in silence like a furniture when they’re bored. No playing outside cuz “is annoying and dangerous”, not playing with their phones cuz “is unhealthy and dangerous”.
What the hell should they do then?!
InputZero@lemmy.world 1 day ago
I remember quite a few adults telling me that children should be seen, not heard when I was little. It was popular and sucked.
Fredselfish@lemmy.world 1 day ago
My ex step mom (may she rest in piss) favorite saying. She said that shit all the time.
Few others I don’t hate people, I hate their actions. (She had a lot of hate)
Actions Speak Louder then Words (only good saying I took from her)
She would say these things at least once a day. But always hated the seen but not heard one. Because I was an active kid and couldn’t be ignored.
SonOfAntenora@lemmy.world 1 day ago
So there was this…what do you call it, lady who was very annoyed at any noise ever. Once she pulled a kitchen knife at us. Well well would you know that all parents and grandmas pulled legal action against that.

Die, i think, given our position on climate change. Kids shoukd die,
We should all collectively commit suicide, and these damn kids should shut the fuck up while we do.
