- Comment on Active duty members of the United States, How are you feeling in regards of being under the service of the Amerinazis? 2 days ago:
You have to understand how compartmentalized the military is. Service members focus on the job in front of them, the directions and orders their immediate supervisor are giving and the tasks they have to do.
The broader political landscape is utterly remote to 99% of the Armed Forces.
- Comment on If America and Mexico did an all our "WAR" against the cartels look like? 2 days ago:
The cartels are Billion dollar entities that have insanely diverse lines of business. An all out war with them would destabilize western currencies.
- Comment on Is it rude to go through the car wash with a bunch of snow on your car? 3 days ago:
Yes, it is. It’s absurdly rude because in order for you to get there, you would’ve had your driven with all that Snow on that car.
And people who drive with a bunch of snow on their car are assholes. So rest assured that today you were that asshole.
- Comment on In the US we have signs that say No Shirt No Shoes No service. When did this become a norm? Also if I am wearing a shirt and shoes but no pants can I still enter? 3 days ago:
I don’t know when it became a norm. I first noticed those signs in beach communities in the 70s and that never made any sense. It is the beach…

- Comment on How do I make a dog mean? Not that I want that but would kind of like for him to also be our protector much as his. I don't want to hit him or deprive him though he is just sometimes tooo nice. 1 week ago:
Why not hire a service that will train your dog to be a guard dog. You want a guard dog to do a lot more alerting than attacking.
You don’t want it mean, you want it effective.
- Comment on What does the process of disobeying illegal military orders look like? [US] 1 week ago:
Yeah… all you need to solve a legal issue in movies is a montage. Lemmy/reddit thinks the same thing.
- Comment on What does the process of disobeying illegal military orders look like? [US] 1 week ago:
What happens is the person that disobeys orders spends years dealing with all types of non judicial and judicial punishment, then they probably get vilified by various right wing pundits and having their lives dismantled and all types of fucked up, decades later some court will exonerate them and by that time, no one will remember the dudes name and or will only remember that they are a bad guy.
It isnt a culture of the people above me know better. It is a legal system taht dictates that.
- Comment on 'It's overwhelming': Plastic from Canada washes up on Scottish beach 1 week ago:
Yeah, that shit is wild. I remember that trash and debris from the Japanese Tsunami was washing up on the west coast of the US. That really didn’t surprise me, but what did was how fast it got to the west coast.
It has alwasy shocked me when I see a thing that really hits home how small our planet is,
- Comment on Can people irl be as mean as some people online? 1 week ago:
People are utterly totally different in anonymous online comunities, sometimes in a very good way and often in a very bad way.
In the Us a similar thing happens when they get behind the wheel of a car.

For people who weren’t around in the 70s and 80s trust me the sexism and sexual abuse back then was unreal!

- Comment on Does it happen when the law arrest a drug kingpin or whatever and they off the cops something like 10mil a piece to let him/her go? Has anyone ever actually taken it? Or is movie trope? 2 weeks ago:
He dumped the guy’s phone as part of investigating the domestic violence incident.
He was asking for trouble by doing his job?
- Comment on Does it happen when the law arrest a drug kingpin or whatever and they off the cops something like 10mil a piece to let him/her go? Has anyone ever actually taken it? Or is movie trope? 2 weeks ago:
Not a kingpin but cops being owned by drug dealers is very real.
A buddy of mine, who is no longer a cop, was forced out because of that. My friend arrested a guy for beating up his wife. While looking through the guy’s text messages my friend found evidence that the guy was a drug dealer and was paying off another cop in the department to do all the shit you see in movies. Protect deals, take out competition, steal evidence to sell …the whole nine.
Why was my friend forced out? Well the chief of the detective unit (or whatever they called it) was inline to take on the #2 job in the state police department so he didn’t want any scandals. So he wanted the whole things covered up. My friend wouldn’t do it.

- Comment on How come decades in the 1900s look fairly well differentiated but from like 2004 on feels like a giant run on? 3 weeks ago:
I suspect because you haven’t had any major milestones this century. I graduated undergrad and 93 joined the army, met my wife and son. I got out of the army in 2000, A few years later, I adopted my son, A next major milestone was when he first went to first grade then when he went to middle school, then when he graduated high school school. I got a great job in 2000. I got an even better job in 2002. I got an even better job in 2006 and then I got a Phenomenal job in 2010. Lots of major milestones to break up the early parts of the century. Then I had similar major milestones between 2010 and 2020 and 2020 was the pandemic and blah blah blah blah blah
