Even though it is an HBO show that is being written and directed by the same guy who made the movie?
- Comment on Will Hollywood's remake of Parasite really succeed? 5 hours ago:
Boon Joon Ho has been very clear about the Parasite TV show not being a remake. He says it is a story that takes place in the same universe.
First and foremost, the only measure of success in US entertainment is eyes on screen. How much money it makes at the Box Office or number of watches. Nothing else matters.
Now with that said, there is a long history of Horror movies making sharp social commentary in the US:
- The primary subtext of Dawn of the Living Dead is the absurdity of consumerism in the US.
- Invasion of the Body Snatchers is an allegory of the Red Scare, that took place in the 50s.
- The Long Walk just did illustrated the shittiness of the draft and the stupidity of war.
- They Live is a critique of how the Elite are controlling society.
- Rosemary’s Baby is all about a women’s right to choose.

So the one with the grandma wallpaper that is famous for a little kid being all alone looks less lonely to you?

Then go buy it and make it one.

Don’t ever fuck with a crow.
Leave it be.
My knee jerk reaction is to feed it. But I learned long ago that the US Forestry Service has a saying, a Fed Bear is a Dead Bear.
What happens is some good natured visitor/camper in the park feeds a bear, so the bear learns there is a food source there. The good natured camper leaves the park and a new camper shows up and the bear comes around for its daily feeding and there is no food. So the bear does what bears do and finds food. So it eats the family pet, or raids the cooler and all of a sudden the bear becomes a nuisance that has to be put down.
So the lesson here is, do wild life a favor and leave them alone. They will take care of themselves.
- Comment on Is the world more volatile now or is it just the abundance of news? 11 hours ago:
The first school shooting in the US was in the late 1800s.
During an 18 month period between 1973 and 1975 there were an average of five terrorist bombings a day in the US.
There were more serial killers in the 1970s than any decade since.
Before 1974 a women could not open a bank account unless she had her father’s or husband’s prmission.

I have been going to the movies for about 50 years and I never found out what was in the theater by show up at the walking up to the theater. I did it with the news paper or calling…

It really is and it is wild how emotional I got about it. I can see how it is a good match with The Last of Us.
GOW Rag is why I bought a PS5 and is just as good.

Ugg yeah and they taste like it too. They have the worst after taste.
- Comment on I didn't realize masala, was spicy 1 day ago:
Really off topic to the post. Masal Pringles sounds utterly disgusting, then again anything pringles is utterly disgusting.
Of all the potato chips out Pringles are the worst.
- Comment on I didn't realize masala, was spicy 1 day ago:
Butter Chicken typically isn’t spicey at all.
But like all dish names what butter chicken is really depends on where you are getting it.
- Comment on 1 day ago:
So what should be glaringly clear to you is that you are no longer the target demographic for theater attendance. That information is all relayed through the app on the phone, as are ticket sales, seating arrangements and really the purchasing of food.
- Comment on 1 day ago:
Movie theaters main products has always been food.
Movie theaters have never made money off the movies they show, they make their money off the food they sell. It has been that way for at least 50 years.
- Comment on 1 day ago:
…everyone of those tells you the name of the movie.
- Comment on 1 day ago:
Dude come on… No one goes to the theater to find out what is playing there and no one has done that for well over a decade.
Your rant is silly.
- Comment on What games did you sleep on for too long? 1 day ago:
God War 2018. I had never played any of the previous GOW and after my umpteenth replay of The Last of Us, I read several articles called “Games similar to TLoU”. GOW 2018 was one of them.
Holy hell I fell in love with it.

- Comment on Was the MCU original in that the created a whole universe connected by different movies? 2 days ago:
No, the first one was the Monster Universe in the 1930s that linked Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman etc.
Ironically WB has been trying to recreate that with the so called Dark Universe, but the first two entries were such shit the whole thing was DOA.
- Comment on Why was AID's pigeonholed to be a gay disease in the 80's? Even after knowing a person can get it from blood transfusion. 2 days ago:
Every disaster, every pandemic, every flood, every earthquake response is rooted in bad and opportunistic politics. In the same way Trump and MAGA America turned Covid into a libtard issue for political gain, the Regan Administration turned AIDS into an indictment of homosexuals for political gain.
SEE!!! GOD IS PUNISHING FAGS!!!
There was no large very powerful corporate interest protecting gay rights, while there was a very large and powerful corporate interest protecting the world’s blood supplies.
That is why Ryan White was such a big eye opener for the world and later Princess Di hugging a kid with aids.
- Comment on When you vote why don't they just say something like this will raise your taxes for this and over here won't. Wouldn't it be simpler? 2 days ago:
No. Not everything that you vote for raises taxes.
Not all Taxes are income tax.
People pay different amounts of taxes.
Taxes are just one of the thousands of issues that are considered when voting.
- Comment on Why is AOC a big deal? She just speaks common sense and calls out absurdity. Have we really gone that far off the rails where we don't do it ourselves? 2 days ago:
It is incredible isn’t it?
- Comment on Why don't politicians during a hearing let the person they are questioning actually answer questions and speak? 3 days ago:
No one pays attention to congressional hearings. So the members use their allotted time to get a soundbite in that will hopefully make it into the 24 hour news cycle.
- Comment on Do women actually enjoy sex? 3 days ago:
In my experience they do.
- Comment on Has their ever been a movie or documentary that shows a person running for an office at the very beginning, the show the middle (and if they get bribed) then to the election night? 3 days ago:
Carcetti didn’t take a bribe nor did he ever bribe anyone. There was the shady shit with Clay Davis extorting Carcetti, but it is clear tht Carcetti didn’t play.
Carcetti did become a slime ball in office but that was really more hurting the city to protect his political career.

I suspect The Ides of March has what you are looking for. The candidate didn’t get a bribe but there was a much more significant event that is shown.
