They do have their own “dollar” (known as Bahamian dollar) but its interchangeable with US Dollar as its a 1:1 peg meaning the value is the same (B$100 also equates to $100) but they have a bill for $1/2 (50c), so there are 8 denominations & it’s a strong currency with a caveat (it’s closed, it can’t be exchanged outside the country). I know it’s a rich country not too distant from Florida, have you been there before? If so, what is it like?
Yes. Tourism is its economy.
Money laundering
While I am sure plenty of that goes on the Bahamas, I am not sure what that has to do with the topic at hand.
Go-to Aruba during the summer. It’s like half price of their winter rates, and they have the same weather year round.
Travel ain’t cheap these days. Are you willing to plan ahead, stay in hostels, and avoid tourist traps? Could be pretty affordable. Is it a spur of the moment splurge? Say goodbye to your wallet.
