Good to know but I’m not sure how that’s relevant to the principle originally being discussed.
The movement is about the legal right to keep what you paid for *period*. If you’re “fine” with publishers killing service games today, you’re just signaling to the industry that you’ll be fine with them adding mandatory online check-ins to your favorite single-player games tomorrow.
Apathy toward a principle usually ends with losing the privilege you thought was safe… Food for thought.

Not sure that was their point. It’s about the principal of it.

Talking about my own experience here; there are rules (ToS) which people break and then Valve ignore. Hands off is one thing but being totally nonchalant about these blatant, hate filled transgressions is another all together.

I’ve tried contacting gaming press about this. I contacted Valve (several times) citing their own rules, screenshots of blatant transgressions and they repeatedly closed my ticket and ignored me. I avoid buying games directly from Steam now. If I csn find the screenshots later I’ll update my post.

Wish they did the same with SteamOS versions (like Proton). The background recording was broken for the better part of a year on the Stable, Beta and Testing branches of SteamOS and Valve dragged their feet for a fix.

I’ve been having a blast with Arc, especially as a newcomer to the genre. The PvE aspects (where you work together to defeat massive robots) is incredibly fun. My only complaint so far is that the inventory system can be a bit of a pain.

I really enjoyed watching Oxhorn play Silent Hill 2 remake, well, once he stopped smashing windows obsessively. Also enjoyed games like The Quarry, Until Dawn etc but they might not be your type of thing.

Valve’s “hands-off” approach extends far beyond CS:GO gambling. They have the same willful negligence toward moderating their own official group chats.
For weeks, the official Steam Deck group chat has been flooded with racist slurs and hate speech. I and many others reported the individuals responsible, yet weeks passed with zero action taken.
Frustrated, I opened a formal support ticket. I detailed the offenses, provided evidence, and explained why a basic filtering system or active moderation is necessary for their own official spaces. Valve’s response? They closed my ticket without taking any action at all. They have confirmed, through inaction, that providing a non-toxic environment in their official communities is not a priority.
This experience has made me lose a significant amount of respect for Valve. I will now be actively purchasing my games elsewhere in protest.
