I bet Grok doesn’t even have a clue about Twitter policies and is just making shit up

Exactly, I don’t know why people haven’t understood that yet, Grok is just another LLM, it doesn’t know shit, it doesn’t understand shit, it just regurgitates words from the data it’s been trained on and it certainly isn’t an insider at Shitter.
Stop asking Grok what the fuck Elon is doing
IT
DOESN’T
KNOW
leftytighty@slrpnk.net 5 days ago
The point is that LLMs are naturally biased but they’re also explicitly biased by the people training them. Knowing what biases are being programmed into these LLMs by their owners is a glimpse into their agenda.
If you want to read more on the subject these are referred to as “system prompts” and you can read about various “system prompt leaks” that can include such things as explicitly right wing walking points.
Grok may very well have such nuggets in its system prompt.

It should probably make stuff up that doesn’t make it’s boss look bad.
brucethemoose@lemmy.world 5 days ago
Grok is a laughing stock in LLM world.
-
It’s worse than Gemini, Claude, so… why use it over API?
-
It’s not open source or even open weights. Elon is straight up lying when he claims it is.
-
It’s more expensive and generally more censored than great open weights models. Its even straight up worse than the remarkable Deepseek v3.
-
Elon has one of the most inefficiently used H100 hoards on the planet, while other labs are making good models without being billionaires or scorching the Earth.
-
Elon is an asshole, and I don’t want anything to do with him.
-
Even for “business use,” simply associating with X makes you radioactive.
The only ostensible reason I can think of to use Grok is ignorance, or to lick the boots of Musk/Trump.

Isn’t it great that Americans are so intelligent and well-informed that we voted to give this trashcan more power?
We pretty much fucked any chance we had for the middle/lower classes to gain more power/influence during our lifetimes. Weak middle/lower classes = shit country. It’s only going downhill from here.
octopus_ink@lemmy.ml 5 days ago

I may have disagreed with you if Kamala hadn’t spend the end of 2024 proving that the destruction of the traditional Republican party (not that I was a fan of R in the first place) was all the excuse D needed to sprint to the right. It’s not even like D is trying to pull things the other way, they have literally just embraced this opportunity to become even closer to corporate interests and move their party to the right.
They are fighting R because they are oblicated to do so, but I no longer believe anyone in power in the Democrats cares any more about the middle class and non-white, non-Christian, non-straight Americans than R does.
DarkFuture@lemmy.world 5 days ago
I mean you can, and should be, pissed off at Democrats all you want. Doesn’t change that all data point towards them being a better decision for middle/lower class Americans.
Problem is, a bunch of Americans feel the way you do, but instead of still voting intelligently, despite being upset with Dems, they chose to stay home or vote 3rd party.
So now a felon rapist is our leader and the ultra rich have made it abundantly clear average people like us are going to lose even more power.

Where was Elon Musk on a ballot?
DarkFuture@lemmy.world 5 days ago
You been paying attention? Elon and Trump are buddy buddy. Elon has donated big time. He has shown up at rallies. They did a live interview together weeks before the election. Trump tapped Elon to be the head of a new government efficiency department. Now he’s making questionable posts on social media regarding our government and what he plans to do regarding it.
If you voted for Donald Trump, you voted to give Elon Musk more power in our politics. Anyone who thinks otherwise is engaging in an act of extreme ignorance.
PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 5 days ago
why post an insubstantiated claim instead of just screenshotting the grok response? I want to believe this but it seems completely made up
papalonian@lemmy.world 5 days ago
What more does the Grok response provide? The response itself is made up. Ask the LLM the same question 5 times and you will get 5 different answers.
PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 5 days ago
It provides evidence of the above. The post doesn’t even say “I asked Grok this and this is what it said”, it’s literally “people” who supposedly asked it and supposedly got answers like that.

Can’t stress enough that most of the freedoms right wingers are trying to protect are your freedoms to obey and support the rich.
InputZero@lemmy.world 5 days ago
It’s the old adage “the laws that free me, bind thee”. Although I’d argue that I should include the extreme left wing as well with the way I worded it. It’s just that the extreme left is so few in number they’re statistically insignificant. Perhaps I’m just being pedantic.
roofTophopper@lemmy.world 5 days ago
Aaaand the solution to this? Get the fuck off Twitter. I don’t know why people love to see blatant abuse of authority and are cool with that. Quit being chodes and supporting a chode.
Rooty@lemmy.world 5 days ago
I’ve always found the obsession with that pathetic platform a bit sad.
dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 5 days ago
It’s important to reference this old chestnut in times like this:
The Internet interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.
This applies to human behavior on this medium, not the machines and services themselves. So, the more service providers tighten their grip, the more users slip through their fingers. Short of that, people can also just adopt new slang to circumvent automated censorship mechanisms.
empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 days ago
This applies to human behavior on this medium, not the machines and services themselves.
I’d argue thr machines behave this way somewhat similarly too. The Internet’s services are designed around resiliency first and foremost, what with how IP packet routing is designed for “Any Possible Path” between end points. Any path that becomes “damaged” or otherwise closed is often circumvented if another link exists in the network.
The only way to truely restrict and censor internet data is to control 100% of the data paths into a certain geographical area and inspect every single bit passing through them, which is a monumental task.

Suggestion the public is being manipulated
to me this sounds like they’re trying to cover something they’re doing up
50MYT@lemmy.world 5 days ago
Bullet ballot voting % increases, swing states using a database acquired through a “undecided voters” campaign, and a wireless internet service provider being used to send votes from remote locations.
Nothing to see here.
sparky@lemmy.federate.cc 5 days ago
Elon is only a free speech absolutist in the sense that he’s absolutely free to censor speech he doesn’t like.
ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 5 days ago
Free speech absolutism quickly got hijacked by the early far-right of the internet. From dumb idea of “we should let everyone say whatever they want, words are just words”, it evolved into the switcharoo of the far-right doxxing and harassing its opponents, accusing them of “intolerance”, but when their opponents did the same, doxxing and harassment suddenly became a bad thing that must not be tolerated by anyone. Even mere criticism of the right became akin to the most brutal actions committed by state actors.
Innuendo Studios, when talking about the “You go high, we go low” tactic of the alt-right, he used the example of packing the court. In reality, the tactic is probably as old as Adolf Hitler accusing others of censorship for not giving him a platform.

legit simply turning around their shit and calling them woke drives them batty. it’s like the “weird” thing was at first except it enrages them even more. just keep doing it. call their culture wars “woke nonsense”. whatever it is just turn it back on them and watch them burst blood vessels.

Irelephant@lemm.ee 2 days ago
Ah yes, a random tweet quoting an automatic bullshit bot.
Mickey7@lemmy.world 5 days ago
We all saw the undeniable evidence that Twitter had suppressed anything not in line with the positions of the left. If “X” is now doing exactly the same thing regarding posts not conforming with positions of the right then it’s just more bullshit. What is the problem with treating every position equally? I understand censorship in regard to things like doxing, child porn, and calls for violence…but everything else should be allowed and let users decide for themselves. Haven’t we had enough of being “told” what to think.
ieatpillowtags@lemm.ee 5 days ago
“Hey guys, I think vaccines cause autism but THE LEFT won’t let me spread my bullshit online”
Isn’t that the same thing as platforming actual Nazis???
Mickey7@lemmy.world 5 days ago
You totally missed the point. If someone posted that and if you were capable of thinking for yourself you would research it on your own. And you would then be able to post a link supporting your position. Do you want to possibly change the position of the person and others in the same mind set making the original post or do you just want to censor them. Censorship is what causes the divide. Both sides of an issue being posted causes people to think and hopefully come together.

Or even talking about shit like this? Musk is living rent free in a lot of people’s heads. The way to make him irrelevant is to treat him as such. Making a fuss about everything he says, gives him undue importance.
bassomitron@lemmy.world 5 days ago
To be fair, he’s commanding a ton of influence among policy makers, so it’s pretty critical to not completely ignore the bullshit he’s up to.
stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 days ago
So we should just not talk about his atrocities? Should we stay silent about the war in Gaza too? Because god forbid that Israeli war criminal is “living in my head rent-free”!
Musk will very soon be part of the American government, so of course we should talk about his authoritarian behaviours.
Naia_Elwyn@lemmy.world 5 days ago
Momentum.
The average person is really hard to move to a new platform. I saw this when Skype was the big thing for internet communication the Microsoft slowly made it worse and worse before it was barely a shadow of its former self.
Alternatives existed, many that were much better, but they were slightly harder to use or came along way after people were already set on Skype.
It wasn’t until discord that the internet shifted, but even discord has its problems.
FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 days ago
And FOMO. FOMO is super powerful. FOMO kept me on Reddit for way too long.
enbyecho@lemmy.world 5 days ago
What momentum?
yeahiknow3@lemmings.world 5 days ago
Good write up, except Skype is a terrible example, because it never became worse. Arguably it’s better than any alternative. (Although I’d love to be wrong about this.)
