8 hours? Not bad. For me this doesn’t hit until 15 minutes before deadline (for a 2 day task)

I do it because it helps me visually separate SQL keywords from table and column names.
Helps especially when your SQL is embedded in another file so there is no syntax highlighting.

On an unrelated notes, a huge fraction of oceanic microplastics is from car tyres. Driving is a number one source of oceanic microplastic.

DO NOT feed strangers cats. Water is fine. If you feed it, at best you’re fucking up its diet, at worst you’re basically abducting the cat.

Hard disagree. Mint had far worse performance than Pop OS for me. Not sure why, I had proper drivers in both cases… Just saying, installing steam is not all.
Nowadays I recommend Bazzite for gaming

I’m not a biologist but there is no way in hell that a virus can be as big as a living organism right? That’s probably not a bacteriophage

sure, patriarchy is systemic/cultural and also plays a big role though
- Comment on The one drawback to walking at night 1 month ago:
in some places people of certain skincolors or descents are more likely to commit certain crimes so that’s not really an argument.
The better argument IMO is that the racist versions target discriminated minority groups, while this one targets the group that is generally not the victim
- Comment on Why we need term and age limits 1 month ago:
I’ll flip this around a bit and make a less exaggerated version:
Half the problem is that many politicians were born in like 1960 and still think that necessary spending only consists of rent and groceries.
The society we’ve built since then requires much more. Without a smartphone you can barely be a functioning member of society sometimes. Lots of places you have to own a car and pay for gas to get anywhere. The list goes on.
And what about social needs? There is no neighborhood bar to go and chill without spending money. There are like no places where you can go and exist for free anymore. Capitalism and especially neoliberalism has robbed us of third places.
These politicians (or their voters) may remember a time when they could exist somewhat comfortably with a low wage. That’s just become much harder, so if rent is like half of your income nowadays, that no longer means you have the other half just for leisure spending.

A game I enjoyed much more than Hollow Knight was Crypt Custodian - it’s not as hard but very cute and still quite challenging. I highly recommend it!
- Comment on Steam has the best UI 2 months ago:
Good design doesn’t have to be bland, and what does this have to do with dark patterns?
IMO the desktop Steam client as well as the gamescope have some pretty confusing UI. Once you get used to it it’s fine but that’s the case for any shitty UI. Except Gamescope, which is buggy to traverse by controller (which is what it was designed for lol)

Mastodon is also open source and decentralized, trying to turn it into anything else will meet so much resistance from the community, Mastodon will likely just get forked.

dodecane has a 12 carbon chain. The longest chain here is 10 carbons, which would be decane.
