It should be H₂O 2 as in “Water 2”. You wrote “2 hydrogen atoms and 2 oxygen atoms”, which is hydrogen peroxide.

Pretty sure this isn’t true for most people. I don’t listen to anything that I did as a teenager anymore. Sure, if I do hear some song from back then it’s nostalgic and I do put on a song now and then, mostly at parties when the topic comes up or you know others there would like it but it’s very much not part of my daily listening. And I feel the same kind of nostalgia for things I listened to in my 20s that aren’t part of my current tastes. But I never put on whole albums or playlists of just bands and songs from then. I’m certain that most of the music I listen to now would have been liked by my teenage self though, just hadn’t explored and expanded my taste and knowledge as much.

- Comment on Nintendo can disable your Switch 2 for piracy in the U.S., but not in Europe, as confirmed by its EULA 1 week ago:
Seriously? It’s been out for a few weeks, obviously there aren’t any. And since Nintendo spent a lot of time and money to shut down most original Switch emulators I doubt we’ll see S2 ones anytime soon.
Your comment is on the level of a 5-year-old asking if they can play Switch 2 on their phone or something. The answer is so incredibly obvious.

Then there are the people who make their partners jealous and suspicious, even if they never were before. Have an ex like that, I remember her talking about her ex early on in our relationship and how he’d constantly think she was cheating, even to the point where he went and looked for her at the bars she’d normally be at when she’s out with friends. I thought that was fucking nuts, but just a few months later I understood him. I never did what he did, but it didn’t take long for me to feel no trust for her. Many times it almost felt like she consciously made it seem like she was cheating and then freaked out whenever I even hinted at how it looked to me and others. And even when we were out together she always found some guy who fell for her right there and then did all the things people do when they flirt, but denying that she does flirt and saying it’s all subconscious. As far as I’m aware she has never been caught cheating, but I’m absolutely certain she does. It’s been 5 years since we broke up and I still feel like my normal trust and view of people is damaged because of her. And they guy she got together with after me, less than a week, had the same experience as me. She broke him in the same way. I had never before fully regretted a relationship of any kind, no matter how short or long, but with her I do. She’s gorgeous and generally has a good personality and is easy to fall in love with, then she breaks you and moves on within a week after.

I’m trying to steer my younger (13) half-brother into thinking like this, that you’re doing stuff for fun. There doesn’t need to be instant (or not instant) rewards, especially the kinds that are so common now with many games that are made for kids and teens like a “billion zoomble bucks”, ultra rare legendary gold skin (that is not actually rare in any way), digital stickers you can’t even use for anything and whatever else. The reward should always be to have fun.

The number of times I’ve had to explain to adults that the sun is a star is way more than it should be. It never stops being so disappointing too that even the most basic shit, not this exclusively, is just something so many people don’t know, think about, have any interest in and don’t ever read more than the sparse title about that thing in the news (those titles and articles often being partly of fully false).

Not with a good ad and annoyances blocker. I reformatted my hard drive recently and the few pages I had to visit before installing that really opened my eyes to how bad it is, and how most people just live with it being. Hadn’t experienced much of any of these the past several years, and it has gotten a lot worse since I did. I’ve noticed that most people I know who are not that tech-savvy have stopped going to websites or even trying anything online other than a very few selection of apps, and now that makes total sense.

It’s been awesome to see how it went from something you had to go to vegan only stores or order online to the norm, now it’s just checking every kind you buy because a few still have animal products in them but as you said, it’s mostly vegan. It’s just non-dark chocolate that’s normally not vegan now.

- Comment on Anon describes experience 3 weeks ago:
Had a similar experience around age 10. Learned that cucumbers generally have a higher water percentage than seawater, 97% to 96.5%. Tell that to a friend of the same age, he says that can’t be true because all the oceans have more water than all the cucumbers in the world, we begin debating and then start fighting about it and a teacher comes by to stop us and asks what’s going on. I explain and the teacher immediately looks at me like I’ve lost my mind, pulls my friend to the side and asks him to leave, takes me to a room and sits down to try to explain how I’m wrong and that I can’t start fights over things that anyone can prove is untrue. A week after I’m sent to a kind of mental health meeting, she immediately understands and looks it up, sees that I’m right, tells me to keep away from talking about “stuff like that” with both friends and others my age and also teachers and parents of other kids.
I’m not still mad about it, but can’t deny that it feels wrong and weird.

So did many of the other big AAA devs, then they changed. You’re not making any point at all. And don’t get me wrong, what Larian has done is amazing, and the response from the rest of the AAA game studios is both hilarious and depressing, but sadly not surprising. Most AAA studios got big by doing good, they wouldn’t have gotten that big otherwise. But then either new people came in an fucked them up or the ones already there got greedy and lost touch with reality, it’s the same with many other things.

It’s equally as bad when you discover you like something that has been around for a while and has lots of fans and you don’t get accepted or realise you don’t want to be part of the fans because of how shitty, toxic, dumb etc. they are. A relevant example for this is Assassin’s creed for me. I never like any of the games until AC: Origins, even though I gave most of them a fair shake. AC: Origins is a 10/10 for me, I put in over 600h hours into that game, 100%'ed it and all its expansions/dlc. AC: Odyssey is good too, but I never got as into it, so a 8/10. Valhalla never looked good in any way so never even tried it. Started playing Shadows about a week ago and really enjoying it so far, not as good as Origins but mostly better than Odyssey. But damn do people not like when I mention this, like I’m not allowed to like it because I didn’t like the earlier games. I have no issue with people liking them and not the ones I do, never said anything else. Music is a lot like this too. “Oh, you like their newer stuff? Fucking idiot, only the early stuff is good, I now see down on you as a person and hate every opinion you have”.
