Darkmuch@lemmy.world 4 hours ago
See you gotta get the Costco bag of nails and meal prep your nails over a month for those long term savings
devaly@ani.social 7 hours ago
I get them for free at the manicure

Good and cheap is a free cookbook based on the food stamp budget of $4 per day. It’s a free pdf from many sources including the authors website if you sign up for a newsletter or something and paper copies are very inexpensive.
Dettweiler42@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 hours ago
That’s based on 2024 prices. I’d say it’s probably $8-12 / day based on food price inflation.
I’m sure it’s still a good book, though
TrollAccount69@lemmy.ml 1 hour ago
The food inflation isn’t evenly distributed across all groceries. I hit $6 a day with little snacks and workout oriented meals with greater caloric content and higher Q factor in a bunch of different ways.
If you want to bring down your own grocery bill and go from zero to sixty on cooking at home I can’t recommend that book highly enough. You don’t have to suffer.

I eat keto and take warfarin, so C B B is actually a meal I have lol
AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@piefed.social 5 hours ago
I’d take the rat poison. It’s gonna give me food poisoning, true. But at least it’s honest about it. With the other “foods” you’ll get food poisoning too, but they don’t sell themselves as poison, so I find it dishonest and not worth of my money.
funkajunk@lemmy.world 4 hours ago
It would just be straight up poisoning, and you would die
usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 4 hours ago
Would you die or just get really sick? I thought rat poison only works because rats can’t vomit it out
AbsolutelyNotAVelociraptor@piefed.social 4 hours ago
So, like with a bag of salad, except the bag of salad won’t tell you that it’s poison.
HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 4 hours ago
You really should be cooking your bacon longer or at a higher temperature if its giving you food poisoning
socsa@piefed.social 4 hours ago
You can definitely get 3 bullets for a dollar in case two are duds
chiliedogg@lemmy.world 2 hours ago
Where can you get 3 bullets for a dollar. Maybe you can find 50 9mm rounds for $15, but you’d need to split the cost with 16 other people.
AbsolutelyNotSpez@lemmy.world 7 hours ago
My dog would be thrilled about a three-cans-of-wet-food meal.
myster0n@feddit.nl 7 hours ago
I take the salmon and remove the nails and rat poison from it.
terranoid@lemmy.cafe 6 hours ago
3 onion rings
needanke@feddit.org 2 hours ago
Portions that small will only be available for an additional small convenience fee of $2. Sorry.
Rentlar@lemmy.ca 7 hours ago
If I have an avocado + rat poison and I throw it up, I get $2 back after the restocking fee, right?
AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 5 hours ago

Maybe in the US, but here in Denmark, beef jerky is a specialty item and costs as much by weight as instant coffee, sometimes more!
adarza@lemmy.ca 1 hour ago
in the u.s. for common mass-market brands of each, that is also true. about the same price by weight.
dehydrators are not terribly expensive, and jerky isn’t difficult to make at home.
damnthefilibuster@lemmy.world 3 hours ago
Does Denmark use a dollar as currency?
ncc74656@lemmy.ml 7 hours ago
Only THREE chikn nuggies?!
SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 hours ago
I don’t get it. Is a row or a column supposed to add up to $3?
QualifiedKitten@discuss.online 5 hours ago
You have $3 to spend and can pick any combination of items. The items in the top row cost $5 each, the items in the middle row cost $4 each, and the items in the bottom row cost $1 each.
Spoiler
Since you only have $3, you can only afford to choose from items in the bottom row.
adarza@lemmy.ca 1 hour ago
can’t do the rat pellets either, unless you and a bunch of your buddies, who also each have three bucks for lunch, are gonna share a bag.
SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 hours ago
Yeah that’s what it seemed like. I guess I just didn’t really get the joke. Maybe it’s an existing format this is playing off
python@lemmy.world 5 hours ago
Guys it’s a fraud the bag that says “RAT” on it does not actually contain any rats :(
