Yeah you are probably right. i vaguely remember giant dragonflies in that Earth age with more oxygen.
I’ll burn the script then… Although a space station with broken scrubbers…
- Comment on spidey senses 2 weeks ago:
Now, a study of orb spiders (Trichonephila clavipes) in space has revealed that these smart arachnids can orientate themselves with light when there is no gravity to tell them which way is ‘up’.
So you’re telling me they are already adapted to space, a place where they wouldn’t be size-constrained by gravity…

Let’s not kid ourselves, Lemmy is great because it’s still in its infancy and gen pop is still a minority for now hence the bot makers not being too interested for now.
Also caretakers of the forums still care enough to adress issues.
I’m happy with what we have now and the idea that it will get bigger is not something I think we should work towards but maybe that’s just me.

We’re not losing any value by dismissing people who have a flagrant disregard for the truth.

Yes and no.
Ok my last input was a bit lazy hence all the armchair biologists tuning in.
Less and more evolved is definitely a thing when alluding to the complexity of the system and since evolution is incremental time helps.
However you are right that adaptability to the environment is the most important thing when defining the success of your “genetic constitution”.
I guess my point is that we are more likely to have, in our DNA, evolved adaptation to them than they are to have adaptation to circumvent our immunity.
That being said, yes there are inherent risks to getting those out there, I’m just saying our propensity for enjoying fictional doom scenarios might make us overstate the probability of those occurences.
- Comment on AND THEY DIDN'T STOP EATING 2 months ago:
Although, most likely less-evolved hence less-threathening than the current virus and bacterias.

Wouldn’t fit with the artistical trends of the times… It’s not a bad hypothesis, but if that was a trend the hair is not the only feature that could be imagined.
Now I can’t stop picturing archeologists unearthing an anime bust.

Oh you wrote this. Do you think it proves the existence of God by itself or is it another way people who already believe in God point to it?
- Comment on Humans didn't invent agriculture 7 months ago:
This idea comes from “sapiens a brief history of humankind”. It’s a play on semantics because domestication (domo=house) basically means put in house and the evolution of wheat to be more fit to human consumption in a way pushed us towards agriculture and houses.

Meh, seems like it would just breed new ones as long as the underlying system that prop them up isn’t fixed.

I’d be surprised if that’s true. Do we have any data on this or is this just “seems to make sense” stuff.

Contribute positively… By the way, this is not it.
The thing is if you want content, people feeding you it are a small minority doing most of the work.
Help them and maybe they’ll post happier stuff.
