rar has recovery records. i know it’s a somewhat niche feature, one far more popular in the ‘olden days’ especially in certain uh… ‘venues’… but it’s something i’ve always used when making backups with it.

- Comment on When did movie credits move from the beginning to the end? 1 week ago:
and then there’s a few films like robert rodriguez’ we can be heroes, which has only his studio card at the very beginning and a title card two and a half minutes in. that’s it. no opening theme, no opening credits at all, nothing. just movie. i kinda like it, actually.

so much easier to get the data to the string-pullers if it can just be beamed out… and it’s untraceable without muskrat’s approval.

- Comment on Who gets all the tariff money about to be collected from US citizens buying products from Canada? 1 month ago:
most retailers won’t be happy with the same net per unit when fewer units will sell due to the higher prices, so they’ll be adding more than just that 25% of ‘cost’ to the final retail price.
the basic idea of the tariffs for lord diaper is to pressure those countries into doing what he wants. the revenue stream is secondary to that goal, but is a significant shift of tax burden onto the lower and middle classes; while the wealthy get tax cuts ‘funded’ by those tariffs that disproportionately affect those least able to afford the higher prices.
- Comment on Who gets all the tariff money about to be collected from US citizens buying products from Canada? 1 month ago:
“then what’s all the cuts to medicaid and snap and other benefits and programs going to?”
more tax cuts for the rich.
“how about all the other ‘savings’ from ‘doge’?”
more tax cuts for the rich.
“then why is the deficit still growing by billions and billions?”
more tax cuts for the rich.
“when is it our turn?”
never!

- Comment on Do most people still use computers, or do people only use a smartphone as their main/only device? 1 month ago:
i see more and more mobile-only households all the time. and people with landline internet at home that has never seen a pc. only televisions, phones and tablets. an increasing number of people don’t even have that, they live off their cell phone’s internet.
personally, i’m ‘desktop only’. my phone i use only as a phone. i have no tablet, no watch, no gaming console. my laptops never leave home, they’re just ‘small desktops’. when i need one, i grab some spare junk from the office to take to a site.

a tipped employee who does that work for years will also see shit for social security later on, as that’s based on your reported and taxed earnings.
