I could be a 400lb fas att.Or I could be a tiny petit boy or girl…but my size is still L.
I wonder if this works for thong sizes too.
I accidentally had posted this on Lemmy wholesome. It had mixed reactions. But here, this I’d my hole, it was made for me, and I’m definitely size L according to millions.
Recommended size based on millions of orders and reviews, not what size it thinks you are.
It’s saying this item runs big. You have XL selected so it’s recommending sizing down to L.
It’s not that crazy.
it’s not that smart, it’s just recommending the most popular. … I think.
They use AI to summarize reviews already, it isn’t far fetched to assume they are also using AI for this recommendation as well.
Wouldn’t it then update to recommending a M if he picked large?
If it’s really that the sizing runs large it should just say that, but that message is very ambiguous.
Yes, but they have to give you what’s on the tag. So even if it runs large they have to give you an L if you ask for an L.
I don’t think it’s that ambiguous. They tell you why it’s recommended. If they get a lot of returns for this item and customers typically end up with the next size down, and lots of reviews say they run big, it makes sense for them to suggest that and tell you why they’re suggesting that.
This is also them telling you this information while letting you know it’s based on other people’s feedback, not coming directly from Amazon themselves.

I recently bought some new trainings shirts. They had a size table so I spent like 10min getting all my measurements and choosing the size that should fit. Only for it being too tight around the chest. Wtf Nike, why even bother
Ive noticed this more and more. Even higher end brands arent doing real QA anymore. The same size and cut of pants on the same shelf at a store will fit differently. Same goes for shoes. Same pair is slightly wrong in one color compared to another.
QA costs money, and actually making sure your suppliers follow your specs doesn’t seem to matter to brands anymore.

Since they’re mentioning reviews it might be warning you that the company in questions products run a bit large, that’s the optimistic guess anyway. Pessimistic guess is AI bullshit.

Yeah. Ideally Amazon uses its vast collection of data to cross-reference purchases and returns that were labeled “too small” or “too large” to power these size suggestions, which would make them actually useful. But if that is too expensive, it’s just some AI bullshit guess.

I’m guessing you are a dude. As a woman - I am usually a medium now, which makes logical sense, but sometimes need S or L, even in stuff from the same company. Or something called a 28 or 29, even though no part of me is 29" around. Sizing of clothing for women is wildly inconsistent, and even the size charts don’t help, they lie.
So I do use those recommendations.

This shirt may be a screwy size and Amazon may have a bunch of return data for people who bought the extra large and ended up exchanging it for a large.
But it’s more likely shitty chatbot being used as “AI” Fuck AI Slop.

And L is definitely not my size. Plus, what if I was going to buy something for my cousin or my husband? My wife? What if I had a newborn? The size is the wrong characteristic to determine based on previous purchases or what a thousand other shoppers have purchased… Ofcourse you’re getting L! Its the thing in the middle! The average!
