Yeah anything above about 24 and I’m dying. Meanwhile winter is nice and cold so I can just wear more if it’s a problem
notarobot@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
Yes. But at night it gets way better and at worst is annoying. Winter is cold all day all the time and causes literally pain and sickness
NorthWestWind@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
High latitude people can’t comprehend the heat
Nythos@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
I have arthritic joints and would still rather winter than sweat all day in >90% humidity
pewgar_seemsimandroid@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
my country still maxes out 30-35
MCTamTam@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
Yes, and I love it.
RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 2 weeks ago
I don’t care for it being dark but with snow it’s nice
AstaKask@lemmy.cafe 3 weeks ago
Fuck yes. “Winter depression” beats the shit out of summer exhaustion. Especially up here where the sun won’t stay down long for most of summer.
Give me snow and ice so I can wear my good boots and coat.
untorquer@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I actually get summer depression if it’s too hot and doesn’t rain for a long time.

“All I want for Christmas, is youUuuu!”
relianceschool@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
She’s on the roof!
azertyfun@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
You mustn’t get “winter depression” particularly bad then. I can’t get anything done when DST does away. Extreme cold or extreme heat I can easily find physical solutions to (my house is well-insulated), but spending all daylight hours in front of a screen then having zero sunlight for after-work activities is just a burden I have to bear 5 months out of the year and it makes me want to kill myself or become a bricklayer or sth.
AstaKask@lemmy.cafe 2 weeks ago
Find the time to go outside during work hours. Take a little walk or something. It’s easy for me since I used to be a smoker but I get how it would make other people uncomfortable. If you live in a northern country it’s very likely you have the right to these kinds of breaks.

Pff…try 3:30pm
Rothe@piefed.social 3 weeks ago
More like 3 pm.
Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 weeks ago
Beautiful isnt it?
scathliath@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
Damn right, keep that fucking ball of hydrogen out of the sky and burning my damned retinas for as much of a day as I can possibly have locally, thank you. 🖕
merc@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
You’re a fan of Dark Mode IRL.
scathliath@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
Damn right; my eyes demand it (I will sacrifice them to change teams if anyone’s offering)
pH3ra@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
What? I can finally sleep without sweating my balls off while mosquitoes turn me into an itchy Hellraiser character?

Trees full of leaves, that’s summer.

bro, have you not known what sleep is?
LiveLM@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
I wake up early to go to work and Satan’s breath is already circulating even then 🥲
Console_Modder@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
You’re God damn right. I’ll take the cold, snow, and darkness of winter any day over the constant 90 degree F, 100% humidity, still bright as fuck at 9:30pm “joy” of summer
iamdefinitelyoverthirteen@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I’m very happy for you. I find it miserable living in cold perpetual darkness.
hayvan@feddit.nl 3 weeks ago
That’s me, give me those dark cold days I can snuggle warm blankies when I get home. Fun fact: you can always dress more when you are cold but there is a physical limit to dressing less when you’re too warm.

spankinspinach@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
I’ve seen the sunset at 330pm where I live. Absolute bullshit
merc@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
The nice thing about early winter sunsets is that the path the sun takes through the sky leads to longer sunsets so it takes longer for it to be fully dark.
Kongar@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
Tell me you live in northern New England without telling me you live there. ;)
sad_detective_man@leminal.space 3 weeks ago
I’m definitely into it when I don’t have to work. Turns out I don’t hate winter or the cold, I just hate my job
possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
Why don’t you work in Winter?
sad_detective_man@leminal.space 3 weeks ago
I do, is the problem. I would hate the cold and dark less if I didn’t have to commute and work in it
DarkDiamondK@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
And I fucking love it
Agent641@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
It’s easy on the eyes, and easy on the ears.
lightnsfw@reddthat.com 3 weeks ago
I love getting to work before the sun comes up and leaving as it’s going down all while freezing my ass off all the time. It doesn’t make me want to kill myself at all.
dogs0n@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
Don’t you worry my brother, summer is only but 9 moons away or similar.
RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 2 weeks ago
Get a job working outside. You get to enjoy the daylight but it comes with some major downsides as in getting to enjoy the weather too, whatever it may be
lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 weeks ago
I used to have a job where I worked outside a lot and I loved it but I don’t know of any jobs like that that pay enough and I’m qualified for.
gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
I love winter, and I love walking around when the city lights are on. It is aesthetically pleasing to me. I also constantly wear sunglasses on bright days. So yeah; I don’t mind limited daytime hours at all.
RisingSwell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
Better than summer time when it’s 8pm and still fucking bright daylight.
Pazuzu@midwest.social 2 weeks ago
Oh no the horror, a few more hours of daylight to enjoy after work. If only we could have more darkness in the day to really liven things up
RisingSwell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
Some of us want to go to sleep when it’s dark and not when it’s still daytime.
iamdefinitelyoverthirteen@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Sheeeit, with bullshit ass DST making the clocks go back, its more like 4:30PM.
offspec@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
In winter we use standard time, that is the normal baseline and if you want it to be sunny at 10pm then you prefer DST
iamdefinitelyoverthirteen@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yes, exactly that.
faythofdragons@slrpnk.net 3 weeks ago
It shouldn’t be legal for it to be sunny at 10p when I gotta wake up at 5a for work.
abbadon420@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
Correction: winter fans above the ±20th longitude line
Corn@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
Latitude lines go laterally, longitude are stretched the long way around the planet

I was strungle with that one. English is not my first language
Corn@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
laughs in equatorial mountain climate
The fuck is a season?
merc@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
Don’t you get rainy seasons?
Corn@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
Technically we are in a rainy season, but its not a real rainy season, just a few months of showers for like 15-30 minutes, then sunny again, every other day. Similar to Florida weather.
Those downpours can be pretty severe though, when it starts bad, you pull over and put on rain gear immediately because its about to get much worse. Sometimes it feels like you’re riding through soda, water hitting every inch of your body at all times, plus an inch of runoff on the road.
stinerman@midwest.social 3 weeks ago
Winter fan here. This is a problem, which is why the sun shouldn’t rise until about 9:45 in the winter.

Winter fans are gamers and vampires. Or gamer vampires. But Summer fans want skin cancer. They crave it you see. They want their skinflesh to rebel against the tyranny of their biological code, awoken by the sun’s burning light.
But seriously, winter sucks for me right now because I have to go to work and driving in snowy conditions is miserable. And Summer sucks because the AC in my room is terrible and the sun burns me pretty bad if I’m not careful. I’m glad its only fall ATM but of course almost everyone loves fall. And most people at least like spring.
bizza@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Exactly, yes. I love when it’s darker earlier, I live in the night
daggermoon@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Hell yeah brother!
noxypaws@pawb.social 3 weeks ago
that is actually extremely my vibe. I used to work second shift, and third shift for awhile before that. is nice that the whole region is winding down. traffic is much more tolerable, grocery stores aren’t busy, life is a bit quieter
Echolynx@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Best part about winter, the quieter pace of things. An introvertsl’s dream.
thatradomguy@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago

Omg there's a community for this???
BurgerBaron@piefed.social 3 weeks ago
Def joining that, nice.
I can feel myself getting happier in real time (hit 7'C last night and already my mood is improving) as the pitch dark silence of winter sets in. All the annoying birds migrate away, insects are all dead or hibernating, no rustling leaves, and most humans stop making sounds or going outside as much especially at night when I'm personally most active as a night owl. When my nostril hairs freeze together for the first time that year I'm positively ecstatic. I live further north than 95% of Canadians so even less daylight in the winter which is fucking great. The Sun > Vitamin D liquid drops. Go away, shitty fusion ball.
