Why is that a bad thing? I can understand if the ps5 version is held back by the limitations of the ps4, but I fundamentally don’t understand why anyone thinks any game being platform-exclusive is a good thing.

Hard disagree. The indie gamer era has never been better.
Hell, based on my hopeless addiction to Space Station 14, it’s also a great time to an open-source gamer.
- Comment on Did anyone really think the Final Fantasy 7 remake was better than the original PS1 version? 1 week ago:
I had the green-sided “Greatest Hits” version of FFVII that I bought from a kmart as a young teen. Game absolutely blew me away. Cosmo Canyon’s theme song was one of the first songs I ever learned to play on my first bass guitar. I immediately developed, and to this day actively maintain, a crush on Nanaki.
I borrowed the PC port from a friend for awhile sometime around 1998-1999 and enjoyed that as well, tho I don’t remember what was different about it to be honest
Remake on PS4 blew me away. I loved it. The redone intro still brings tears to my eyes. Rebirth on PC also really really impressed me. I have spent 160 hours playing it according to Steam. I WEPT when arriving at Cosmo Canyon and hearing the reimagined theme song. I went through the Nanaki date at least ten times now.
With all that said, it’s really hard to say if the original is “better” than the 2/3 of the remake I’ve played so far. The gameplay and presentation are so wildly different,. But I guess in nearly every way, yes. all I really miss is having nearly the whole world eventually accessible to me at once. Which the third installment might address.
Neither is perfect, for sure. Original has not aged well in so, so, so many ways. And the shit with the phantoms in the new games just instantly makes my eyes glaze over.
but all in all, short answer, gun to my head? Yes.

- Comment on 'Go Back and Play Morrowind and Tell Me That's the Game You Want to Play Again' — Former Bethesda Veteran Delivers His Verdict on Potential The Elder Scrolls Remasters - IGN 4 weeks ago:
Morrowind is undoubtedly better today than when it was released. The thousands and thousands of mods, thundreds of mod lists, dozens of tools, and hell even the complete, open source, crossplatform reimplementation of the core game engine and its crazy good multiplayer fork, all add up to today being an even better time to experience the game and the community!
I highly recommend picking up the base game and then playing it through OpenMW, with minimal mods the first playthrough (tho unofficual bugfix patch and the like are still probably a good idea)

It really, really does.
This song (All Good Times, by MelonadeM) isn’t from a game, rather it’s one of the demo songs included with Furnace, a chiptune tracker. And it goes so fucking hard:

Even better with this statement

Morrowind remains my favorite Elder Scrolls game. It’s a bit more hardcore RPG than Skyrim for sure, and that may turn some folks off. And it’s definitely an older game with most of the dialog written. But it is an EXCEPTIONAL game. The world is beautiful and varied and exploration still feels more rewarding than Oblivion or Skyrim, the amount of lore to explore is HUGE, the specificity when building and leveling your character out exactly how you want is expansive, and the game doesn’t hold your hand - you can kill people who are vital to the main story if you want to, it just lets you doom the world if you really want to.
Nowadays, I’d strongly recommend running it with the excellent OpenMW engine, it’s rock solid and performs better than the original game, hell there’s even a working multiplayer fork of it!

Yes, and I found it quite refreshing. It inspired me to get a straight razor, which was quite nice to use. Though keeping it adequately sharp was annoying enough that I switched to a double bladed safety razor, which is also quite nice to use.

Honestly sounds and looks quite different at first glance, but if you enjoyed working a particular job and getting better at it over time, that’s for sure an itch that SS13/14 scratches well!
take botany for instance. can be as simple as planting seeds in hydroponic trays and harvesting fruit and veggies for the kitchen and for the chemistry department.
But one can go so much deeper than that - tired of onion plants only yielding two onions when harvested? well, cocoa trees drop six pods when harvesting, so you can rub a cotton swab on the cocoa tree and then rub it on the onion plant to deposit a random genetic trait from the cocoa tree, and if you’re lucky or if you repeat enough times the right way, you can end up with an onion plant that drops six each harvest! or, maybe just end up with onions that contain theobromine.
There’s also mutation of plants, which can add various traits (like offgassing tritium, or making the plant scream in pain when harvested, or making the produce so slippery that people slip and fall if they walk over it), and of course those traits can also get swabbed over to other plants.
there’s even an illegal “gatfruit” that produces a high powered revolver when eaten, tho those aren’t easy to come by

Spectating is fun! I haven’t done much of it but recently I followed a musician avali for their whole shift, and it ended up being really interesting. They found a spear and were told to get a permit for it, which they did, but then someone stole the permit and they got arrested for carrying a weapon without a permit despite being issued one, despite the sec officer being told about the theft, and the thief standing right in front of the sec officer at the time.
then they later got arrested for the same thing by the same officer.
they eventually tried to sue the security department, and the trial was about to start, but was interrupted by the jury room getting bombed, and when they tried to hold the trial in the hallways of course chaos broke out and they had to evac, and didn’t bother trying the trial at centcomm.
