the first time I saw a nutrition label like that was, I think, in Ireland. Absolutely blew my mind how staggeringly useful it was in comparing different foods since there’s that common quantity across all of them.
I really wish we had that in the US.

Punching everyone equally gives the appearance that everyone deserves to be punched. Just another form of “both sides” bullshit.
Folks are rightfully calling out the anti trans stuff and anti gay stuff, and the climate change stuff. But one that really sticks with me the most is when they punched down on alcoholics.
Basically they implied alcoholics should be able to enjoy a tiny bit of alcohol here or there, and called out alcoholics who completely abstain as being undiciplined losers.
As someone with outrageous amounts of alcoholism on both sides of my family, it doesn’t sit well with me at all.
Plus, Matt and Trey are Republicans, so fuck them.
- Comment on Are there any technology-oriented content creators that are still good? 1 week ago:
everyone is gonna fuck up at least a tiny bit over years-long careers like these.
I dislike Jeff Geerling for his past homophobic religious blog posts. And I haven’t seen him apologize for them or make any sort of positive or supportive remarks about queer folks, ever, so I can only assume he still holds bigotry in his heart.
I adore Alec from Technology Connections. Maybe not the kinds of tech you’re referring to, but he and his videos are SO good.

It did! Not technically perfect, but none of us expected it to be, and we had fun and got nothing but positive feedback!
definitely feeling the importance of the bass player keeping the rhythm, especially when our drummer also does backup vocals (which still blows my mind that anyone can do that many things at once!)

getting ready to play bass in a cover band, we have an hour long set at a retirement home this afternoon. my first ever paid gig! definitely a tad nervous but it should be a good time

I could not possibly use my PS5 less. As much as I’d like to actively participate in this boycott, I am only able to passively participate by continuing to neglect my PS5 in favor of PC gaming on linux, which is better in every possible way anyways.

- Comment on The Great Steam Deck Crash of 2026: How The New Pricing Slashed Demand by 80% 4 weeks ago:
damn shame. the Deck remains a wonderful device that’s plenty powerful for the vast, vast majority of games out there.
I am so damn glad I got the special smoky translucent 1tb OLED when I did. It’s served me and my husband very well for gaming and media PC duties, and if push comes to shove I could sell it for more than I bought it for.
I don’t envy anyone looking to buy into PC gaming right now, though, that’s for damn sure.

My partner and I actually walked out after 10 or 15 minutes because it was so painfully loud. Asked for (and received) a refund.
Infuriating that I can’t trust movie theaters to maintain reasonable volumes. I shouldn’t have to bring earplugs to a movie.

WAY too loud. Excruciatingly, painfully, unnecessarily loud. And yet I still had trouble hearing some of the dialogue. We were in an AMC Dolby theater, and I don’t think I’ll ever go to a Dolby branded theater like that again.
I’m not sure how to split the blame here between AMC, Dolby, or Christopher Nolan, but I’m mad at all three for the ringing in my ear that’s still there several hours after we walked out.
Can’t comment on the movie itself as we barely saw any of it. Might see it at a different theater but I’ll be bringing earplugs just in case, though I may want a refund there too if it’s still so loud as to require earplugs.
Nolan really not helping his reputation at being an outright sadist when it comes to sound.

- Comment on If you need a portable reader, is there any reason to choose an e-reader over your phone? 5 weeks ago:
I have a Supernote Manta that I use for note taking mostly, but it also is a great ebook reader. No light on it at all, the optimized for look and feel of writing on paper really well so the tradeoff is worth it.
Recently I use it mostly for taking notes from music instruction and stuff like which synth patches to use for certain songs, or which settings to use to recreate sounds on a synth where no close-enough patch exists
