- Comment on The oldest Minecraft server, MinecraftOnline, is being shut down by Microsoft 1 day ago:
Aside from my concerns about the kind of shit libertarians think counts as free speech, how the hell would Microsoft implement a ban on a Minecraft server that Microsoft doesn’t host?
Like I assume it’s just connecting to the server by hostname or IP. What are they gonna do, hardcode the server’s known IPs and hostnames and prevent connections??

I fucking can’t with this shit.
Awhile ago I regularly went to a gym, had sort of a routine. I tried working with a trainer who kept trying to get me to stop using the various machines, instead strapping elastic things to my kegs and making me do spider walks and weird crawls and all this goofy shit that made me feel so incredibly self conscious.
I get that there may be some specific benefits but it’s hard enough just using the damn machines in the presence of other people and the social anxiety around that, and this motherfucker wanted me crawling around the damn floor and not touching the damn machines I’m paying to use.
I hate this shit.

Briefs, jockstraps, or thongs for life. I’d rather go commando than wear either of these two fucking things as underwear.

That’s a thermostat. The OP image specifically lacks a thermostat

If you truly believe this, replace your home thermostat with the same controls. Live with that shit for awhile.

My first tech job gave me a cubicle in an office. Then at Amazon I had a desk in a team room, which was nice. Then we got moved to open layout, which was dogshit fucking horrible. I’ve long since left that hellish company and enjoy my own office at home, but yeah I totally agree that cubicles were much better than at least the tech industry norm these days.

That’s the background of it but the show really doesn’t touch on it any more that establishing it as a premise and motivation. Almost none of the show actually depicts his treatment or paying the bills.

That’s what makes it so fucked up, like we were really eager to feel validated that we let it come from insincere, weaponized places, and that’s kinda the point of it
- Comment on Simpler times? 3 weeks ago:
reminds me when I was in fifth or six grade and two girls a grade or two older than me would constantly find me in the hallways between classes, corner me, and either start hitting on me, or say flirty shit about me to each other just loud enough for me to hear but quiet enough that it left me wondering if they were doing it intentionally.
I didn’t like it and I wanted it to stop, but I remember feeling really conflicted about wanting to do anything about it because it was also kinda validating at the same time, and I was definitely a weird kid that needed validation at the time. Honestly can’t remember too much more about it, genuinely not sure if I spoke up or not at this point.
But to this day if I hear some people speaking to each other in hushed tones and giggling and shit, it can still bring me back to that feeling of not being sure if some other people are talking about and laughing at me.

Space Station 14. I can’t get enough. Even just sticking to botany, the depth and complexity of what can be achieved feels limitless, let alone botanist+syndicate agent where I can buy “gatfruit” seeds and grow revolvers inside fruit.
Hands down the most fun multiplayer gaming I’ve ever enjoyed.

- Comment on Can you please help me pick a gaming desktop for my son that can run Monster Hunter Wilds? 4 weeks ago:
If you can afford option 2 go with option 2. That CPU especially is so much better, on top of the video card improvement.
Wilds specifically is poorly engineered, just look at the Steam reviews. If that’s the main game he wants to play, every little bit helps make it run slightly less awfully, but also other demanding games will benefit as well
