This won three Oscars my guy. Far from shitty.
But that’s not a shitty movie
The world’s oldest person with downs syndrome would demand to watch this movie every night. On VHS. …Which became more of a challenge with the years.
Six String Samurai. It’s not good. But it’s soooo quotable!
Nice shoes. Nice shoes to DIE in!
Holy crap. I haven’t thought about that movie in 20 years.
Hunh, I liked ypu better when you didn’t talk
Have this movie on the to watch list,my other half is not so interested
Titan A.E. Is a masterpiece.
Crank.“5mls? no 0.5mls! Elevator explodes”
Peak ADHD movie
The first time ne was a masterpiece. The sequel was horrible.
I loved them both so much. Super self-aware movies. Best action movies ever.
Agree, left a real sour taste.
Reign of Fire.
Who said this movie is bad? That’s the hill on which there is dying.
Buckaroo Banzai
That theme song is a legit banger. And my god the quotes… “No, no, no, don’t tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to.” or “It drives like a truck.” “Good. What is a truck?” or “I’ve been ionized but I’m ok now.” or my favorite “DAMN JOHN WHORFIN AND THE HORSE HE RODE IN ON!”
“What’s the deal with the watermelon?” “Umm…I’ll tell you later.”

Okay, I’ve got one that no one has mentioned.
Without clicking the link, just imagine what it might be.
Yes. It is exactly what you imagined. But somehow it’s also just all around…good? It’s good. I can’t explain it. But… it’s just… a pretty good movie.
Freaky! For the most part, name a movie, any movie, and I haven’t seen it. But I’m one of the few people who saw Space Truckers in a theater. Stuart Gordon went to school here, so he had screening of the film at the student union, followed by a Q&A session, back in '96.
Yes, it was a hoot! Gordon was a founder of an experimental theater company here which has the improv mentality of treating goofy ideas seriously and just going with them. That sensibility shows through in the movie, for sure.
It absolutely shows through. Watching Space Truckers is surreal like leaning over to look at a drawing on someone’s refrigerator, only to gradually realize that it’s a Picasso or a Rembrandt, just from their “crayon” phase. Space Truckers absolutely is what it says on the movie cover, just executed with a surprising mastery than even a casual movie fan like me couldn’t miss.
Square hogs! Yeah, it’s fair to say I loved this one from the start.
Square hogs! The square hogs are one of my all time favorite movie details. They’re so goofy, but still enhance the world building.
I like me some square pigs.
Congo? Congo…
Love this movie, nothing like the book, but Tim curry with a stupid accent is all it takes to please me.
Come on that don’t belong here great movie based on the same writer behind Jussica Park, both books I own. This movie has the legendary Tim Curry not a bad movie.
Look you don’t have to sell me on it, I absolutely love it, but we are not in the majority on this…

“Hirkemer Himulka”
Stop eating my sesame cake!
Hot Rod! I can quote pretty much the whole movie. It’s such a fun ride.
Dude Hot Rod is cool beans! In fact it’s legit. Maybe even too legit. To legit to quit. I think it’s pretty popular; could be wrong though.
Damn, you could be the next Douglas Bubbletrousers
I’d watch it for the Europe-heavy soundtrack alone, but the film is a damned masterpiece.
The Core. The perfect dumb movie that’s fun to watch.
I thought for sure no one else was gonna say The Core, get out of my head!
Mortal Engines!
Elrond commanding motorized london for the win
Making a film so bland and forgettable but still one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen is a feat.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets was like that.
what was the plot around the protagonists about? dunno. something stupid
doesn’t matter, the rest was excellent
I’ve never watched the movie but I’ve probably seen most of the big action moments in clips on YouTube lol
Lost in Space
If you mean the '98 one, hell yeah! That metal helmet scene is so cool, Gary Oldman kills it all the way through, and itty bitty me had a huge crush on Penny Robinson.
Same here. Crushed hard on her. <3
This is a perfect example for this thread.
So much of that film officially cannot work:
The pacing frantic and weird.
It relies on familiarity with the source show while being stand-alone and released too late. (Well, maybe it realizes that “Swiss Family Robinson in space” isn’t rocket science.)
Various wild science fiction elements are slammed together, some very late with little foreshadowing.
But - the cast carries it off (particularly Garry Oldman and Lacey Chabert).
I have the hardest time explaining why anyone should watch it, but it’s solidly enterainting, and all the bits that shouldn’t work still somehow work.
One of the first movies available on DVD that we had. In the old paper and clamp case, not the plastic ones that became synonymous.
I think I always say it young enough and the sci-fi captured me so I always loved it.
Ice Pirates (1984): A bunch of A-Listers before they were big. Great practical effects. Spaceships, Pirates, Time Travel, ‘robots’ It was magnificent.
Close second: The Cat from Outer Space (1978). It was a Disney flick, but really great for the time.
I absolutely fucking love how in pretty much the entire 3rd act how you can tell the whole cast is having fun and barely trying to stay serious even in the takes that made the final cut.
But you want to know the kicker? It’s not even my favorite Stewart Raffill movie.
What’s your favorite Stewart Raffill movie? Tell me it’s not Mac and Me.
I can’t wait to watch Ice Pirates. Thank you.
Cat from outer space! One of my favs. Star studded cast too.
Yeah the budget was cut a lot just before shooting started. I think the director and cast said it’s going to bomb so let’s just have fun.
Probably for the best, I think the fun made it worth it. It gives me Airplane like vibes which fell under the same constraints.
Office Space all day
Kung Pow

I, I, I, I, weweeuuuwuuu wuuuuu wuwuwowu hehehewuwuwuwoooo
The whole movie is masterfully stupid, and I would argue ahead of its time. If it came out in the late 2010s/2020s would have been a ton more popular with the GenZs “lol so random” humor
Robot Jox
Hudson Hawk
Wild Wild West baby! You know, the movie Will Smith turned down being Neo in The Matrix for lol
I’m going to get impaled for this but The Rise of Skywalker. It’s my guilty pleasure.
The faculty? Oh that’s a good one.
2012
Office Space.
So I married an axe murderer.
Star Trek IV: The Journey Home is way the hell better than any movie with “IV” in its title has any right to be.
Superman 3 beats almost ANY action movie out there. It literally has everything you could want in a movie… it doesn’t take itself too seriously so it’s funny as hell, has actual character development unlike anything we’ve seen before or since in an superhero movie, cool but believable fight scenes, morally grey characters, and RICHARD PRYOR.
Not a movie, but Konosuba. Yeah, the show is trash, but it’s my trash. I will ride Aqua until the day I die
One I love and haven’t seen mentioned is Equalibrium, I’ve probably seen it 5 times, which is a lot of times for me. I see its ham fisted metaphors and raise you gun karate.

I love this fucking movie and noone else understands why, it’s nearly perfect. Even John Stewart is there with truly terrible acting.
