Why can’t these people understand I’m just trying to help them?

If anyone actually knew WHEN it would crash they wouldn’t tell be saying anything and instead placing bets via the stock market.
- Comment on On a lighter note: Why do people still buy fast food? 1 month ago:
The general consensus seems that people pay for the convenience, not having to cook or clean and not having to wait very long for it. Which is kind of crazy because that seems like such a luxury to me lol. Like a lite version of having a personal chef.
I wonder what the price point is where people will stop paying for the convince and just do it themselves because it costs too much. I would’ve thought most people reached that point but apparently not.
- Comment on [Même] Which movie was this for you? 1 month ago:
I thought it was alright. One thing that really bugged me is that if you’re chasing someone in space why not call another ship to cut them off, or just… fly faster. Idk it didn’t make a lot of sense to me lol

Fun movie! Idk if I ever bought the DVD but I would always watch it when it was on TV.

Don’t repeatedly kill the cows in the first village so that you can sell their drops for coins. You can do it once… maybe twice…

Yeah, the AI songs are just overlays on an already existing song. Even when making something new the AI has to be “trained” on existing material. They can’t make something from nothing… yet.

Monday morning, my alarm goes off. As I reach to turn it off I see a bright pink teddy bear standing at my bedside. Before I can react it blasts me in the face with a ray of pure happiness as I forget that wages have not been keeping pace with productivity or inflation.

iirc it comes from a someone posting about thier son who killed themselves and made a typo saying “he was an hero” so naturally 4chan turned the phrase “an hero” into a way to say “to commit suicide”.

There’s an idea about “autistic ai” or something where you give ai an objective like “get a person from point a to b as fast as you can” and the ai goes so fast the g force kills the person but the ai thinks it was a success because you never told it to keep the person alive.
Though I suppose that’s more human error. Something we take as a given but a machine will not.

I mean literally everything will end, entropy is the ultimate force in the universe. But while that means your happiness is not going to last, it also means your saddness will not last either. This realization that nothing lasts creates sort of an obligation to just live in and experience the present moment.

- Comment on What's stopping people who lash out at the world from going after corporations? 9 months ago:
Read somewhere they target places that are easy/defenseless/won’t give resistance. They target schools, churches, shopping centers, all places with little to no ability to fight back against someone with a gun. Life/society has been cruel to them so they want to return that cruelty to society.
But as someone else said it’s not always rational stuff going thru these people’s minds.
- Comment on WebMD forcing employees back to office. "We aren’t asking or negotiating at this point. We’re informing" 11 months ago:
People keep talking about corporate real estate and how companies need ppl in offices or the value would crash. But wouldnt the company stand to benefit in the long run by just biting the bullet on the remainder of their lease, not renew, and go 100% remote? Or at least drastically downsize.
Would that not save millions in overhead, lease payments, etc into the future? Or do they have 30 year lease agreements or something?

Seems similar enough. I thought it was more for random suicidal thoughts than ending someone else.
- Comment on Why do people say that "return to office" is about raising commercial real estate prices? 1 year ago:
Ok I’ll try to explain it. Imagine before if your company had 100 people and they all needed offices so you rent a place that has 100 offices.
Now you switch to work from home and let’s say only 20 people really need office space since the other 80 can just work from home.
Why would you continue to rent the building with 100 offices? You wouldn’t. Instead you find a place with maybe 30 max. And you’re not the only company doing this too.
So now nobody really wants or needs huge office spaces and the people who own these have trouble finding new tenants, demand isn’t very high so they’ll have to lower prices. That’s what people refer to, since the value of these buildings is partially based on the income they can produce. If that goes down then so does the overall value of the building.
It doesn’t hurt the employer unless they themselves just spent A TON of money building their own huge building. Then it would be mostly empty and a huge waste of money so it would look bad.

- Comment on Is "Burn Notice" worth watching? 1 year ago:
I’d say it’s like an updated version of MacGyver. The main trio will try to help someone, the plan will go sideways and they’ll have to improvise is kinda the basic premise. Some episodes are a bit too predictable imo but there are tons of good ones!! My favorite is the one where they convince a gang that Michael (main guy) is LITERALLY the devil lol. And Danny Trejo makes a cameo. It’s season 3 episode 11 called “Friendly Fire”. There’s some season long arc stuff at the start of the episode but it’s so good lol.
