We’re not putting enough heads beneath a suspended blade, rather.
I want my money to be used to feed kids, provide housing to those in need, fund education and healthcare. I want that money to build safer roads and more greenspace, to expand public transportation and to make life better for the majority who live here.
I don’t care if my taxes feed a family who “doesn’t need it.” I just don’t want my fucking money to go to harming and killing innocent people anywhere in the world.

The same few people who would treat robots/synthetic life as garbage are the same people who already treat other living, breathing human beings like garbage. lol.
The rest of us get sad when you can’t pet the dog in a video game :)

You can buy mantis eggs?! That’s incredible 😭💚
Mantids are awesome lil critters. They’re majestic insects, and even the babies are adorable tiny ninjas.

Video games, drawing/art, photography, having cats as pets, and wearing almost exclusively unisex clothing.
Yep. 12 year old me would have been quite happy to see me now.

I only just finally caved and got Cyberpunk recently, and that’s because it was on sale for ~$18USD.
Waiting for a sale is the only way unless you have magic money burning a hole in your pocket and you’re dying for a game that never goes on sale (Factorio I’m looking at you)

I’m also a slow gamer. Take HLTB as a rough estimate, then add ~15-20% over if it’s not absurdly bite sized like a tiny puzzle game and gas quests, exploration, narrative, etc.
HLTB is also a matter of averages, and the people who are likely to report are also a self-selected sample. Don’t beat yourself up for it; as long as you’re enjoying your time that’s what matters most.

Yeah, not like those parents would sign away custody so Mr. Tyler could take that teenager all over the country. That’s silly!

Turns out getting your life together doesn’t really ease the constantly simmering existential dread.
At least I know that now.

There’s a very light “tutorial” but Breath of the Wild is like that. Especially on Hero Mode (I think that’s what it’s called)
I was 20 hours in when I found out cooking was an option. No explanation of the mechanic in-game

Yeah lol I’d say most men have seen at least a couple women without makeup. Like if nothing else moms/aunts/sisters/cousins, if not friends/intimate partners (if they’re attracted to/date women on the latter point)

Cipro is brutal. Last time I took it 2 days in I felt like my tendons were disintegrating. I couldn’t even pour myself a cup of coffee without crying.
I was able to take it a couple times before without too much issue, but Jesus it doesn’t play around.

They’re not building PCs but they are buying/using laptops, and, to a lesser extent, prebuilts. I’ve also built a few gaming PCs on request from otherwise “casual” consumers though that’s a smaller portion of the market.
- Comment on PlayStation boss says single-player games won’t come to PC going forward | VGC 1 month ago:
Once upon a time, video game consoles offered the convenience of plug-and-play gaming, and living room comfort.
Not everyone wanted to build a PC and play with keyboard and mouse, and even still playing those PC games can be a hassle to set up on a TV if you’re common-denominator-levels of tech unsavvy. (Read: not the average Lemmy user)
Valve has brought that forward some with Steam Deck and eventually steam machine but by and large most PC gamers are Windows users.
That said, console platforms have gotten so increasingly hostile towards customers between pricing, licensing, download times and walled-garden tactics that they’ve painted themselves out of an increasing chunk of the games market.
People would rather set up a computer and a controller than buy a console, and it’s the corpo’s own fault.
