    List compiled by an utter moron. Entirely missing (among others) and vastly superior to most on the list:

    • The Expanse
    • After Life
    • Sex Education
    • Firefly
    • IT Crowd

    Also, despite being controversial, probably worth mentioning:

    • South Park
    • The Walking Dead
    • Z-Nation (imo much better than TWD)

    I don’t think I know anyone that would argue with Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and maybe The Wire (I don’t know any of you contrarians) but the rest of the list just doesn’t have nearly the writing quality. Which is really weird to think about. 3 shows (really 2, Better Call Saul is really Breaking Bad) that are exponentially better than the rest.

      I loved BB and BCS but it feels like you’re putting them on pedestal. They’re obviously examples of great writing but they aren’t in a class of their own. I’d put Chernobyl or Band of Brothers on the same level. And I haven’t seen every show on this list.

      I would say you believe this for two main reasons. One, those are some of the shows that you watched and are familiar with, and you’ve seen spectacularly little of what is actually on that list.

      And two, your own subjective experience is dictating what you feel is better versus what is worse, which is ultimately a completely useless way to estimate how good something actually is.

      Furthermore, lists like this are intentionally inflammatory. They’ll put several genuinely good entries way too low on the list specifically so people will argue about it and drive engagement.

      I mean, Westworld didn’t even make the cut but Scandal did.

      I’d argue that The Wire had to exist for Breaking Bad to happen like it did.

      In the season where Jesse and White try to sell on their own, rewatch the scene where Combo gets got. The entire cinematography drops Breaking Bad’s blues and swapps to the Wire’s shades of Grey and long lense shots. It was definitely BB’s production team tipping their caps to the wire…Hell the scene they chose was even (plotwise) The Wire

      Breaking Bad (which Better Call Saul beautifully expanded on) was amazing but The Wire is the OG

      I’m glad you liked Shameless and enjoyed it; it’s absolutely fantastic that you did. There’s no issue with that.

      But I thought it was, objectively, a very mediocre show. It relied almost exclusively on unnecessary shock value to drive the narrative and keep people watching.

      It was so pointlessly raunchy and disgusting.

      If you have to rely on gratuitous sex and violence to keep your audience engaged, you’re not making a good show.

    There’s only one show on that list where I’ve seen every single episode: Chernobyl. And that’s only because it’s a single, short season. I started others from that list and enjoyed them, but finishing them feels like such a big project.

        Mythbusters, The Simpsons, and one (1) episode of Family Guy. Also, note, “best” is an exceptionally vague term, so let’s not get into Internet flamewars over it. And, for the record, I haven’t watched non-Western TV shows either. Maybe one episode of Pokémon when I was a wee kid.

    I’m surprised to have watched quite some of them! And I am glad to see Andor high up (subjectively, I would put it number 1, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea)

    Sales pitch: politics, political activism and action in the Star Wars universe. What happens when you are not a shiny Jedi but just a dude? Absolutely great, perfectly paced, tackling cool problems. Gives meat to the dystopian Empire. I will stop here, you should watch the first episode.

      It’s like if a well loved fancy restuarant served you 6 amazing courses, then gave you a shit sandwich for dessert. It doesn’t matter how good the other courses were, you’d complain and tell everybody to avoid the place.

      It’s exactly the same way with TV shows. Shit ending = shit show
