Bengali. But it’s a Sanskrit loan word (i.e. tatsama), so it’s the same in many north Indian languages. I don’t think it’s used as a name outside of Bengal, though.

Not a kid. Also, I think he’s fine with it. He grew up in India, so it wasn’t a big deal.

I know a guy whose actual name is Anal. It means fire in our native language lol. Not a nice name to have when you’re in the US (unfortunately).

I agree with most of the programs that others have posted. I’ll just mention two that I absolutely love but no one has mentioned yet,

It shouldn’t happen, really. Can you send me a photo of your credit card so that I can see what’s happening? 🤔
- Comment on What is the best political movie? And what is the best apolitical movie? 1 month ago:
Best political, probably Kolkata 71. Parasite is also very good. Best apolitical, I have to go with Panther Panchali. It’s so hard to just choose one movie, my answer will probably change if you ask me again in a few days. A list of 20 might do it a bit more justice lol.

Side note, Paris, Texas is a pretty great movie.
- Comment on What is everyone's favoured domain name provider these days? 2 months ago:
I’ve been using Cloudflare for my sites. They offer at-cost domain registration, and I’ve been pretty happy.
- Comment on Ads are coming to bit.ly links 3 months ago:
There are sometimes reason to use it. It’s shorter, so easier to remember. It’s also easier to send in text. I use a selfhosted shortener, so I can use these as dynamic links and can change the target if I need to while keeping the shortlink the same. But I agree that most don’t use it for respectable reasons.

Reminds me of the movie Udaan. A great great film.

I’m usually visiting my parents during new year, so I just text a few friends. We usually meet up later in the day, though.

None of the things you mentioned sound even remotely plausible though. 🥲

Yes, electoral college should be abolished. It’s probably not gonna happen though, so this is a temporary band-aid solution that many states have implemented.

- Comment on Why are laptop adapters so much larger than phone adapters of same power rating? 6 months ago:
Ok, I guess I misinterpreted what you said. My laptop only has a DC barrel port. I want to charge it using any of the high wattage GaN chargers. To do that, I’ll need something that converts the USB-C to barrel, and does the voltage negotiations. But thanks anyway. Maybe this’ll help someone else.

Hey, I’m interested in the last thing. Can you give me some details on how to do it? I’d love not to carry around the bulky stock charger.

Were all the tests available at the same time? Usually there are different times for submitting tests and also for assignments. I’ve never taken a course where you can just submit them whenever you want. For assignments, maybe, possibly with some penalty. But never for tests.

- Comment on I think I am socially ostrasized, what should I do? 8 months ago:
Getting a job won’t make things easier. Most people need human connection and friends to live a fulfilling life. I think you might be imagining that people dislike you, as we socially awkward people often do. Just try talking to people, and you’ll surely make a few friends. I’m socially awkward, but make it a point to attend many social gatherings outside of classes/job so that I’m basically forced to talk to people, no matter how hard it is. There will definitely be people who will appreciate your personality, just give them the chance to get to know you.

It’s good that OP mentioned that it’s “furred”. Otherwise, I might’ve mistaken it for a man.

There’s a (pretty great) movie where cannibalism is treated as a substitute for sex. It’s called Aamis.
