That’s one of the best smells of ever exist. There was a bakery on the way from my home to school. They usually had a fresh batch when I walked to school in the morning, and boy it made me salivate.

That’s kinda against the whole idea though. You can get any cuisine anywhere nowadays.

Easy D for me. Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese. I don’t think I need anything else in life lol. Come to think of it, the only food I’ve had in the last month or so that isn’t from D is pizza, but I can live without pizza.

Afircan food is pretty great. E has parts of Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Egypt. (Those are the ones that I’ve tried. There’s probably more countries with great food there.)

In my case, I think I matter quite a bit to 6-7 people; and matter somewhat to maybe 6-7 more. I don’t think anyone else would really care. And I’ve learnt to make my peace with it. I used to be the people-pleaser type, but I’ve been happier living on my own terms.

In general, Ghulab Jamun soft and soggy, full of sugary syrup. The exact taste, softness, sogginess etc. depends on where in India you’re trying it. Like most Indian desserts (or maybe even cuisine in general), it’s the name given to a diverse array of related desserts. They all have regional names, and are very similar but distinct. For example, in my hometown, it’s called Pantua, and it’ll be softer but less sweet than say in Western India.
Same fo Jalebi (we call it Jilipi). It’s crunchy, and sweet, and a little sticky. One again , the sweetness varies a lot depending on where you are. I’ve also seen alternative kinds of flour being used to make the dough, which changes the taste a lot.
Sorry if I wasn’t helpful, but it’s just very hard to explain how it tastes, because it depends on so many factors.

Most people follow sports (some even watch football) in India, and most can also read English. It’s probably a deliberate joke.

- Comment on Windows 11 user has 30 years of 'irreplaceable photos and work' locked away in OneDrive - and Microsoft's silence is deafening 3 months ago:
Hate to victim blame, but what a moron. Microsoft is definitely at fault here, but so is this guy.
He “moved” the data to OneDrive. Why the fuck would anyone do that? He wants to migrate to a new larger drive, but why did he feel the need to delete stuff before verifying that his data has safely been migrated to the new drive? A single drive to store anything important is very dangerous in itself, but this is a different level of stupidity.
I had few TB migration at the start of this year. I vehemently follow the 3-2-1 rule for anything important. (I actually do more copies than that for personal photos and documents.) But I still have the old disks just in case. I can’t fathom doing something like this. Maybe I’m overreacting, but ffs it’s stupid.

Interesting. I’ve mostly seen them in the Nordic countries. (But then I haven’t had an opportunity to travel to SE Asia yet.)

Yeah, I might definitely be wrong. But still looks like some Costco-like store. Maybe Sam’s Club?

Looks like Costco to me. It’s probably a pack of a few billion rolls.

- Comment on demon named racecar 4 months ago:
Bengali. But it’s a Sanskrit loan word (i.e. tatsama), so it’s the same in many north Indian languages. I don’t think it’s used as a name outside of Bengal, though.
- Comment on demon named racecar 4 months ago:
Not a kid. Also, I think he’s fine with it. He grew up in India, so it wasn’t a big deal.

I know a guy whose actual name is Anal. It means fire in our native language lol. Not a nice name to have when you’re in the US (unfortunately).

- Comment on What is the best political movie? And what is the best apolitical movie? 5 months ago:
Best political, probably Kolkata 71. Parasite is also very good. Best apolitical, I have to go with Panther Panchali. It’s so hard to just choose one movie, my answer will probably change if you ask me again in a few days. A list of 20 might do it a bit more justice lol.
