I’m a largeish dude, 6’ 230lb. Sometimes I’ll see a person that looks like a baby deer and wonder how we’re the same species.

Sometimes a person that looks like a baby deer sees you and wants to climb that jungle gym 😏
camembear@sopuli.xyz 2 weeks ago
As an actual 1.93m/105kg that loves a baby deer to climb me and use me as a jungle gym, we appreciate your energetic enthusiasm.
agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
Oh I’m well aware, I’ve had a few climbers
The_v@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
My wife (146cm) can confirm that opinion (I am 190cm).
BurgerBaron@quokk.au 2 weeks ago
6’5” here. Because very few people are noticeably taller than I am, when I meet someone who is it’s a crazy experience especially 7ft+.
I can recall being stun locked by having to look up at someone much taller than me 5 times total in my 35 years alive so far since middle school.
The opposite doesn’t really phase me until I’m physically holding a significant other. Then I’m like holy shit you’re tiny! Dunno why it doesn’t quite register until then.
agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
For me it’s the hands. My hands are pretty big even for my size. I’ve shaken maybe 3 or 4 hands bigger than mine, and it’s a bizarre experience every time.
CodingCarpenter@lemmy.ml 2 weeks ago
I have a photo of myself with the lead singer of Metalachi and it really is like he’s meeting Goliath. It’s insane
BreadOven@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Are you sure they weren’t actually a baby deer?
Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 2 weeks ago
Yes, but consider: big women
grrgyle@slrpnk.net 2 weeks ago
Speaking of, I actually found a partner who’s exactly my height. Not that I would’ve ever said that was a requirement, but it is nice being in a relationship with someone you can just look straight in the eye without moving your head.
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
YES
alternategait@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
My wife and I are the same height (slightly tall of average), and the best part is having to only minimally adjust all the car stuff. We are significantly different sizes though, so I did not achieve the lesbian dream of having double wardrobe.
sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 2 weeks ago
Wait don’t you have like a really tall wife? This comment has lore, thanks for writing in, Turmund GameofThrones
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Wait Capital Grail has a really tall wife too? Should we start a Dudes With Really Tall Wives Club
dismay3915@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
The size difference is cool, but only girls who have brothers realize the strength and physical difference. It’s even a bigger gap. My sister gets freaked out every time she sees me do something physical.
Lorindol@sopuli.xyz 2 weeks ago
The strength gap can be wild.
A while back at work two of my female colleagues were trying to move a full book cart to another wing of the building. There was a bit higher treshold in one of the corridors and they couldn’t raise the cart enough to get the wheels over it. I happened to walk by and offered assistance.
I knelt down to check the wheel height and instantly raised the front of the cart with one hand and guided it over threshold my other hand. While still on my knees.
My colleagues stared at me with a mix of awe and horror, having just realized that what was beyond their combined strength was just an easy task for me. And I’m not even a “strong guy”.
BigDiction@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Also worth noting that men just tend to move heavy stuff more often, so you get practice activating the right muscles and using your leverage efficiently.
My advice has always been for women to strength train. Trust that you will not get bulky muscles accidentally. So many people try to diet and train for that on purpose and never achieve it.
harambe69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
This is why most responsible parents drill “never hit girls” into their sons. I thought it was the peak of gender discrimination back in the day, but turns out they’re just trying to keep your ass out of jail, so you don’t ever fist bump or body slam a girl as hard as you do with your bros. Heck, I’ve seen girls sprain/break their hands just hitting a guy.
LH0ezVT@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
Honestly, that is lack of training and/or technique. If you hit someone and break your own hand, you should either hit them less hard or it’s a life-or-death situation and a broken hand is the least or your worries, right?
captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
I dated a girl who had been raised by a single mother, one sister no brothers, then she went to an all-girl’s college. At 25, I was her first boyfriend. I’m not sure I convinced her we’re the same species. A 5’7" 200 pound man dating a 5’1" 110 pound woman, I was almost twice her size and casually lifted or moved things she utterly couldn’t. She very nearly screamed the first time I picked her up.
velma@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
Not even that big, hm?
passepartout@feddit.org 2 weeks ago
Was with a bigger women for some time (as in large, not fat, just the right amount of love handles here and there) and it was basically the same thing. I was orbiting her (although we were the same size) and surprised by how cool it is when there is just “more” of a person that you like next to you.
BreadOven@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
It was only a couple times in my case, but she was tall enough I had to look up when we were standing/kissing. It was nice.
LH0ezVT@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
Mate, if you were orbiting her, she has too much mass. Perform a slingshot manoeuver and reach escape velocity.
zxqwas@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Moo.

193 / 104 here. Your guy needs to walk more.
Evotech@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Still on the big side
AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I’m tall, yes. I’m below 20% body fat, so I’m not exactly thick.
camembear@sopuli.xyz 2 weeks ago
I’m pretty big, and sometimes, tiny people want to take pictures with me. It’s hard to believe we are the same species sometimes
CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
That’s a temporary taxonomic error. Anthropological morphology takes time to digest evidence, but we are speciating as we speak.

My son was a huge teen, just a giant human, and I used to tell my wife that when I was driving him around, I always felt like there was a bear in my peripheral vision.
sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 weeks ago
As a dude who is 5’ 10", aka, basically the global average male height…
I am consistently, momentarily confused when anyone describes me as ‘tall’.
Its almost always a woman that will do this, which makes sense, but I’m still always stun locked for a second or two.
CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I’m 5’2”, I prefer guys closer to my own height. Anyone from 5’4” to like 6’ works but that 5’6” to 5’8” is the sweet spot, no huge men for me plz, I’ll leave them to the rest of you
bridgeburner@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Being 5’6", that’s reassuring to hear that not I’m not a completely lost case
funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
I’m 5’6, bisexual, and have done very well across the spectrum of gender. Height - like weight, hair color, skin color… -doesn’t particularly denote attractiveness.
Patrikvo@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
Good, you two now have met, I pronounce you two a couple. Please make arrangements meeting up in real life. Some travel may be required.
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
that’s new. i’m 5’7"-5’9" depending on how bad my hunch is for the day. my wife is usually a little bit taller than me. most women your height that i tried to date just screamed “are you six feet tall” at me before running away in terror like they’d just watched a non-disney disney movie starring frollo.
lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 weeks ago
Then there’s my 5’3 ass.
Wren@lemmy.today 2 weeks ago
I’m 5’3" and dated a 5’4" guy. Kissing was great, I didn’t have to tip-toe or break my neck.
grrgyle@slrpnk.net 2 weeks ago

Jankatarch@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Aren’t most professional weightlifters extremely short too?
lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 weeks ago
No idea. I’m an amateur weightlifter and I do think it helps with getting a decent aesthetic build with less work though. I look pretty muscular even though my lifts aren’t that impressive. Not that it’s helped much with getting women interested in me. There’s other benefits to work out though and dudes appreciate it at least.

I’m the man who didn’t get the man structure at birth. My body has always been super slim and feminine, even my voice 🤷♂️
fracture@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
it’s CRAZY how much bigger men are than women
i used to be a pretty big woman, 5’10/180 lbs. then i transitioned. same height (height gain on t is basically not real, unfortunately), and i weigh around 200 lbs. but now it’s WAY more muscle (no more boobs + at around 20% bodyfat). i’m built like a fucking tank now, i feel like i occupy so much more space horizontally. my neck and shoulders and arms and legs and everything are so much THICKER
(also, it turns out, men eat WAY MORE than women, too. all this extra mass doesn’t support itself 💀 easily need an extra 1000+ calories nowadays)
velma@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
Men eat so much more than women, it’s a little crazy to witness sometimes! My partner is almost always willing to clear my plate after he’s cleared his and I’m so full I can hardly move haha
Fmstrat@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Age and activity level plays a big role here. For instance, a 30-40s mildly active man of avg weight might eat less than a smaller 20-30s active woman.
N of 2, but for example my partner (F) is a bit younger than me (M), and also a cyclist (about 3-4 times my volume of riding). She can easily out eat me, and will finish my plate despite being over 20% lighter than me.
AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
The eating thing is too real. I saw an adorable Mexican waif taking her lunch break the other day when I was eating my own lunch. She got some sort of enchilada type thing from Taco Bell, where she works so she can make her own dishes, while I got my normal Supreme Luxe Box.
For comparison, my meal comes with chips and cheese, a taco, a chalupa, a burrito, and a drink. She had a single burrito covered in red sauce. She ate half, packaged it up and took the rest home. I vacuumed up the crumbs from my wrappers.
Admittedly I can probably use her as a dumbbell/ bar weight, provided she can plank properly. I would guess that she is 162-167 cm, and 49-50 kg. I’m 192-193 cm and 104kg
grrgyle@slrpnk.net 2 weeks ago
This makes me want to work out more. I’m basically wasting my T on baldness occessonally getting angry when I should be sad lol
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
i mean, i got a recumbent etrike for getting around town. i get my exercises and my funs in at the same time i do my chores.
i’m incredibly fortunate that where i live has extant infrastructure for that. 20 years ago two lycra dudes theirselves elected to city council and county controller, uh, i don’t remember what those boards are called but they got the infrastructure in. also helped a lot with the homeless programs so like, i like these lycra dudes.
fracture@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
i’m not really a big gym guy, my activity is largely functional, although sometimes i’m fudging it (been taking a large box of stuff on a walk, for example)
there’s some newer science showing artificial loading of weight will lead to a reduction in bodyfat, so i’ve been wearing a weighted vest. between that and walking a lot, i have lost a lot of bodyfat but also built substantial muscle because… i’m heavier
so maybe something like that could help you get workouts in?
grrgyle@slrpnk.net 2 weeks ago
I guess I meant more like getting strong. I have a hard time keeping my bench stats up since I’ve got a whiny back and cardio is more my thing (endorphins).
Personally, I try not to focus on body fat because that feels more negative to me. Like I’d rather focus on feeling good and making gains than losing weight. Less guilt involved imho.
gandalf_der_12te@feddit.org 2 weeks ago
hah yeah :)
i’ve recently seen my cousin (22M) eat a whole plate of noodles with sour cream, then another one. i felt like i’m seeing a fire storm eat up a rack of dry wood or sth. meanwhile i eat like 3 tomatoes and am full :P
CapuccinoCoretto@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago

I thought you were going to say that at 5’10 as a woman you were considered quite tall and now as a dude 5’10 is average.
fracture@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 weeks ago
😄😭 it’s still pretty tall… i could be a lot worse off. i’m not really interested in attracting the same crowd that most men are, anyways
