yeah I was 15 years younger when I tried it and it was just a novelty.
- Comment on Why do we tolerate it that Luigi Mangione is being held in prison. We know its absolutely the least safe place he can be? 1 day ago:
There is a lot of reasonable doubt: no matching eyebrows, different clothes, suspicious evidence processing, disconnect in time-line, weird arrest conditions…

- Comment on TRUCKIN' 6 days ago:
it’s a good time for them, dispassionately speaking- Ocean freight is down, meaning you’re looking for nearshoring (Mexico and Canadian cross border freight), meaning you want more over the road shipping across large land masses than shipping to a port.

hey, I mean Uber Freight is a thing now
- Comment on Perplexity CEO says its browser will track everything users do online to sell 'hyper personalized' ads 1 week ago:
ad tracking is only as personalized as the company running the ads
If I’m advertising fake nails, it’s personalized if you like fake nails and I advertise to fake nail fans, but if I advertise to all femme people - then it’s no longer personalized, and advertisers tend to do the latter.

Account Manager at a marketing agency, I run ~5 marketing departments with a mix of my own staff, outsourced contractors and employees at my clients’ businesses.
We create marketing campaigns that consist of a set of emails, social posts, ads, thought leadership articles, blogs, landing pages, downloadable PDF reports and the attendant reporting on how they performed, plus finding and targeting the audiences in various segments. It’s a mix of database management, creative writing and design, project planning and communication meetings.
I generally spend about a 1-2 hours a day on each client, plus meetings. We make and send the collateral, get approval, execute, track, measure, compare, make a strategic conclusion, repeat

moving from Europe to America the amount of times I’m like “it’s 12 3/8ths” to try to, yknow, join in, and everyone’s like “call it 12 or 13”
motherfucker that’s a huge gap!

unlike other comments, I’d argue, like most tech, it was incredibly profitable for anyone except the people funding it.
Business is not about extracting money from goods and services, it’s about tricking VC funders to give you 50 million dollars a year
- Comment on What's with "*checks notes*" everywhere? 3 weeks ago:
it actually reached its peak in 2018 per this slate article: slate.com/…/checks-notes-was-the-perfect-trump-er…
It was a big Twitter meme, like Yo Dawg I Heard You Like…, or Hawk Tuah, or Trogdor or whatever. People hear funny thing, repeat funny thing.

!i felt the Sritala’s husband mega reveal at the end of the episode was kinda corny anyway, as was the kid surviving the smoothie with no hospital visit or other ill effects, and none of the rich kids even getting a text about their dad being indicted? There was a lot of build up to a lot of hand waved consequences in this season. It kinda felt like a Marvel movie wrap up compared to the previous two seasons. Adding Zion x Piper would be even worse!<

not to mention a lot of US companies have “bonuses” to encourage you, but haven’t the foresight to think that an unmet bonus - usually out of the person’s hands, at least in my experience - is just a pay cut, and pay cuts are the worst thing you can do for morale and productivity.

Someone rewrote the first Harry Potter book (I’m not kidding) to be about Harry using magic to do essentially eugenics, Sam took it seriously.
