Sponsor Block is one of the essential YouTube plugins. Thanks to that I don’t know half of these companies.

I love sponsor block, it works pretty much flawlessly apart from when YouTube recommends me a video from literally 30 seconds ago, which is surprisingly often that I can now count it on 2 hands as of the last time I got a scarily new video on my feed,
Railcar8095@lemmy.world 1 month ago
That’s the bit I hate the most about YouTube premium. You still have ad! What’s the fucking point is I have to get adblock for sponsors.
Drop every single add, including embedded and we can have a discussion.
I’m not going to be paying anyway though
atopi@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
another option is to exclusively watch small youtube channels
Alaknar@sopuli.xyz 1 month ago
God forbid someone gets popular and starts making money off of their passion!
qevlarr@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Missing Nebula
zaphod@sopuli.xyz 1 month ago
Nebula is the youtubers advertising for their own platform. It’s like “like and subscribe” or “subscribe to my patreon”.
Gladaed@feddit.org 1 month ago
They are right anyway.
zout@fedia.io 1 month ago
I'm missing Betterhelp, that one really expensive safety razor, and Bambulab for makers.
Zwiebel@feddit.org 1 month ago
Hensson. It is a very good razor, just double the price of others
zout@fedia.io 1 month ago
That's the one!
Flatfire@lemmy.ca 1 month ago
PCBWay, the Raid Shadowlegends of electrical engineering projects
mirisgaiss@lemmy.world 1 month ago
I was gonna say, for the stuff I watch pcbway is every fucking video
FatVegan@leminal.space 1 month ago
Better help is so shitty that it makes me turn off a video when my sponsor block isn’t working. Bambulab at least makes something “good”.
Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
You missed Factor.
Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
And AG1 and skillshare
helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Skillshare is there, next to Hello Fresh.
VitoRobles@lemmy.today 1 month ago
I’m proud to say that I block so many ads, this is the first time I’m seeing most of these names.
JayGray91@piefed.social 1 month ago
These sponsors are more and more being baked in the video themselves and not part of the system youtube use. That’s why I use sponsorblock to automatically skip the portions of the sponsors.
RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 1 month ago
Did you really need to write this like you were sponsored
Drekaridill@lemmy.wtf 1 month ago
I’ve actually never seen an elgato sponsorship
real_squids@sopuli.xyz 1 month ago
It’s when somebody’s elgato stops working so their logo remains the only thing on the screen for a minute or so
Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
It’s more they break frequently and thus the name and logo crops up a lot cause of it
Sivecano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
Sponsorblock go brrr
harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
This was put together by someone who doesn’t watch any sports channels. Completely missing all the sports betting sponsors like Fanduel and Underdog.
cRazi_man@europe.pub 1 month ago
You guys are seeing sponsors? Don’t people use sponsorblock?
Decq@lemmy.world 1 month ago
You would be surprised how many people still watch with the normal YouTube ads, so never mind sponsorsblock. I guess the big tech companies succeeded by dumbing everything down to bite-sized technologies. So many younger people can’t even comprehend the notion of ad blockers. They are basically on the same level as boomers when it comes to tech literacy.
imetators@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
You beat me to it.
My wife once asked me why is it so that on our HTPC there are no ads on YouTube and even on Netflix. Now she’s hyped to use YouTube on her phone, tablet and her PC after I installed Revanced on her portables and Firefox with UBO+Sponsorblock on her PC.
I also remember frustration of our teachers in uni when they were showing some videos off youtube as an example for the class.
It may be not so obvious to us, but in reality most of internet users have no such tools installed on their systems. They raw dogging the internet.
protogen420@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
sometimes there isnt labeled sponsor segments, I just usually skip increments of 30 seconds since most sponsor are either 30, 60 or 90 seconds
0tan0d@lemmy.world 1 month ago
There are some creators who’s content ads have the same effort as the rest of the content. As a heavy ad block user this is the only way for advertisers to reach me and im okay with it.
zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
And I have never ever used one of those services.
CobblerScholar@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Got a set of Raycon headphones, they’re fine but nothing special
JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 1 month ago
Dankpods heavily criticized them.
PhobosAnomaly@feddit.uk 1 month ago
I’d love to see the YouTube analytics of a handful of really popular videos that have embedded sponsors. Even before the “jump ahead” feature, there must be a massive drop-off of people who just skip five or ten seconds ahead until the sponsor isn’t showing again.
PattyMcB@lemmy.world 1 month ago
Morgan & Morgan have been showing up recently
Delphon@discuss.tchncs.de 1 month ago
Odoo is missing
FishFace@piefed.social 1 month ago
What, the open source business software?
boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 month ago
Yes, LTT for one was advertising it.
It was weird seeing a product I develop custom modules for being advertised by them lol. Also, ERPs have such a high entry cost to get them working properly for your business, I don’t see who’d adopt one based on a YouTube sponsorship.
Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
Never heard of that one
Golden@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
Idk if this is outdated or I just watch different content than OP, but I’ve been seeing mostly Helix & MeUndies the last year
purplemonkeymad@programming.dev 1 month ago
Only seen meundies on two channels so far. Not come across helix yet. Yt is large enough for you to be able to just completely miss a sponsor.
protogen420@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
I have come accross meundies when watching Alec Steele, amazing channel, would recommend, big enough to have sponskr segments labelled consistent too
TheRealKuni@piefed.social 1 month ago
MeUndies are unironically excellent.
Micromodal isn’t the sturdiest fiber so they do wear out eventually, but holy shit are they comfy.
They’re overpriced, sure, but kind of worth it IMO.
probablymissing@lemmy.world 1 month ago
helix? like, the text editor???
Golden@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
It’s a mattress/topper brand
Echolynx@lemmy.zip 1 month ago
You watch mostly tech and video game channels, I suppose?
Lumidaub@feddit.org 1 month ago
This seems less like a starter pack and more like the whole collection.
fleebleneeble@reddthat.com 1 month ago
Füm?
Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 month ago
I can’t say that without it rhyming with “cum”
I know it’s got the umlaut, but… yknow… cmon.
IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 1 month ago
revanced user, what are yall talking about?
Gladaed@feddit.org 1 month ago
The single blade razor company, Henson, is missing.
Ziglin@lemmy.world 1 month ago
The Raid sponsorship was really common at some point and there were quite a few memes about it so I think while it probably has become less common it has a place in this meme.
Gladaed@feddit.org 1 month ago
Yeah, I know. But it stopped a while ago.
TommySoda@lemmy.world 1 month ago
I mean, their advertising obviously worked. We all recognize those names even though more than half barely even do sponsorships anymore or not at all. Instead of making commercials look like memes they just flooded the internet and let us make the memes for them.
Battle_Masker@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
Is Magic Spoon still sponsoring web creators? Or did they stop when their cereal came to grocery stores?
homes@piefed.world 1 month ago
This meme brought to you by Blue Apron
Lumisal@lemmy.world 1 month ago
I’m sorry y’all… I’m the one who convinced and helped out the owner of raycons to advertise on YouTube and podcasts before they launched there business, and I did so for free 😭
They’re just rebranded Ali express Chinese stuff with better packaging btw. At least back then they were, I don’t know about now
FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 1 month ago
Oh right, even more companies promoting their competition.
tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 1 month ago
Wonder why the mattress folks have ads on a ton of the podcasts I listen to but it doesn’t show up on yt much. You’d think a mattress ad would want a visual medium to display some features.
pewgar_seemsimandroid@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
surprisef you know about the displate sponsorships, mabye i think they’re rare because i use sponsorblock.
gergolippai@lemmy.world 1 month ago
where’s Ground News (yes i listen to boomer news commentary on youtube)
hzl@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
Also Rocket Money.
runner_g@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 month ago
legal eagle also has ground news as a supervisor pretty often.
