Why do you need to charge your phone during the day anyway? Does it not last a full day?
- Comment on Solar powered personal umbrella with battery? 1 day ago:
That would be effectively worthless if it was used as displayed, with the panel on the backpack. Solar panels perform best when directly facing the sun, as soon as you start to angle them away, they lose output.
I’ve had reasonable results with leaving them on the ground all day though.
- Comment on Solar powered personal umbrella with battery? 1 day ago:
Yeah, that’s my experience as well, you leave them out all day and get half a power bank if you’re lucky. Basically only worthwhile if you’re camping somewhere remote for an extended period of time.
- Comment on Solar powered personal umbrella with battery? 1 day ago:
Not worthwhile if you’re carrying it around all day.
- Comment on Solar powered personal umbrella with battery? 1 day ago:
I’ve got a very similar panel myself, in fact it’s probably a bit bigger.
If you leave it out all day, under ideal conditions, it will put around 10AH worth of charge into a power bank, maybe a bit more, so 40-50 watt-hours if you’re lucky, over twelve hours.
Not a worthwhile amount of power.
- Comment on Solar powered personal umbrella with battery? 1 day ago:
There is a cable running from the solar panel to the laptop, implying the panel is charging the laptop.
Which, based on my experience with them, ain’t happening.

Intentionally destroying a national landmark, that’s what. And it seems to be done purely for the sake of it.
Your comments on this don’t reflect well on your intelligence, I must say.
- Comment on Two men behind ‘senseless’ felling of Sycamore Gap tree jailed for more than four years 5 days ago:
I don’t think that’s possible, even most criminals would look down on these two.
- Comment on Two men behind ‘senseless’ felling of Sycamore Gap tree jailed for more than four years 5 days ago:
This was deliberate, planned, and done purely to destroy something others enjoyed.
I’d say it’s about right.

How, exactly, would one do that? Especially considering these men seem to have no community spirit whatsoever?

I’m pretty sure they don’t let just anyone on Nebula, which is a big part of the problem. Absolutely anyone can upload content to YouTube.

Yeah, given how left leaning and US centric the place is, I can see how they’d lose their shit.

Smartphones are basically magic at this point, especially the system on chip type devices.
Computers had, and mostly still have, a bunch of discrete components you could identify, smartphones are a tiny magic box on a board, with everything else connected to it. The photos they take are amazing, too.
