Pasta is extruded out of what’s called a die: 1000186606
Normally this die is PTFE-coated on the inside to minimize friction, so they can run the machine faster and therefore make more money. This results in smooth surface pasta. In recent years they figuered out they can charge extra for pasta that that was made on a die without PTFE coating, because there is a myth that rough pasta holds more sauce (it doesn’t). This is marketed as “bronze cut” because traditionally the dies are made of bronze I guess

On one hand you have people saying - rightfully so - that such media should be restricted, because even though some argue (without proof) that it reduces harm
Personally I think in a free society something should be legal by default, unless it is proven to cause harm, not the other way around like you suggest.

I know plastic can’t be fully replaced. But buckets were made of galvanized sheet metal before, it works just fine. The grip of an umbrella can be cork instead of rubber etc

Afaik the ideal is glass bottles that get cleaned and refilled locally. That gets rid of a lot of plastic waste
