What's it going to take to truly stop the US?

So now we can add “directly capturing a sovereign leader” to the list of crap the US has done. So what do you think will actually be “the straw that broke the camels back” for world leaders to actually do something? Think it’ll be significant or something mundane?

Well, if you take good old-fashioned violence out of the picture, money. Or specifically a lack of it.

Sanctions, selling off US debt, more retaliatory tariffs, blacklisting US investors and companies, anything that pulls cash out of the US economy and puts it somewhere else. Turn off the money tap, make the mega-donors hurt bad enough and the dystopia machine will eventually grind to a halt. Don’t think for a moment that the current squad of high-functioning sociopaths that are enabling this are principled enough to stay the course after a few of their mega-yachts are repossessed. They’ll flip sides again and again just to try and keep that horde they’ve built up. Someone just has to prove to them that the threat is serious, because right now, they think everyone else is helpless against them.

Additionally, the majority of Trump voters cited the economy as a primary reason for voting for him. A good portion of them were probably lying to cover for being racist and just wanted to see POC and the LGBTQ+ community suffer, but if you crash the US economy hard enough, you can still hijack a big chunk of Trump’s public support. It’s the same as with mega-yachts, but here we’re talking pickup trucks, ATVs, and rent-to-own furniture.

Few problems with this. 1. It’s slow. 2. It’ll hurt everyone else economically because US businesses have hooks set real deep in a lot of places. 3. Other nations have a wealthy elite with similar sway who want Trump in power for various reasons and might not play along. & 4. Whoever replaces the US might turn out to be just as big as bully in a few years if we’re not careful.

Still, it needs to be done.

My take is that US is already on massive decline. I’m not an american but I am a big fan of US and I’ve never seen US this weak even if you ignore how ugly it is under current leadership. I honestly don’t know how US will ever recover from this trump presidency and it seems like nothing but down hill from here.

  As an American this is very close to my take. This leadership is weak, they’ve divided the country in a way in which it will likely never recover from. Global opinions of the US are in the dumpster and it would take decades of goodwill to even begin to shift opinions that the USA is actually “good” again.
  
  The sad reality is this country will never recover to being what it was. I honestly feel like we’d be better off just saying “fuck off, do your own thing then” to the southern portion of the states, but then you’d likely have a nuclear armed failed state within a couple of decades and the evangelicals among them would probably welcome a nuclear Holocaust because they believe they’ll be raptured away.

It’s nowhere close to that level. The GOP/ MAGA has been eroding international trust in America for a while now, but realistically, everybody else is on the outside looking in, and even if America removed all women’s rights, including the right to vote, or annexed Panama, all that would happen would be strongly worded protests and further political isolation of America from the rest of the world.

Nobody wants to fight a war against the USA, and barring something cataclysmic like an invasion of Mexico, nobody wants to sanction the largest market in the world.

TL;DR: America would have to become much poorer or much weaker before anybody does anything.

Hit us where it hurts. Our wallets. Fuck our economy up (even more).

And if that doesn’t work, start forming military alliances and building up your armies as a show of force.

I am here in America and I can tell you there are A LOT of dumbfucks here that can only learn through pain. So make it hurt. America needs to learn a lesson.

    The US constitution states that one has to be at least 35, be a natural-born citizen (born in the US or with dual citizenships and such) and be living in the country for about 15 years, I think

    He ran a type of campaign that his opponents didn’t understand how to counter. Also, he openly collaborated with the same kinds of people that his opponents tried to polarized against him (like calling him dangerous for jews while he’s publicly collaborating with Brad Lander, also Jewish). If we’re talking war - Annexation of Greenland would probably do it.

Once you piss off enough people with allies then historically a lot of contractual responsibilities kick in… But the new playbook like what we’ve we’ve seen in Israel is "as long as nobody in government says the word ‘genocide’ we don’t have to honor our previously signed responsibility to step in so even that’s dodgy.

Once the US is seen as enough threat to the sovereignty of other nations who are just doing their own thing I think the response will kick in. Right now other countries are likely going to target the US’s pocketbook by decreeing various economic and banking sanctions and ratchet up the internal pressures. The US correcting it’s own listing ship through internal citizen lead processes is the good outcome and letting it basically fall into civil war is a more acceptable outcome than outside intervention from an international law perspective.

The US has a lot of Hard power : economic development and money, millitary might, strategic bases the world over, an uncomfortable amount of the world’s nukes and a landmass that is legit difficult to wage a war on. The bar to actually interfering directly through boots on the ground intelligence related action is really high.

No country should be dealing with the US right now. Cut this country the fuck off.

Do not allow Preznit Fuckwit or any of his cronies in your country. Threaten with imprisonment since he is a disgusting multi-time felon who is also a pedo and a rapist. No decent country should let that type of thing step foot there.

Sanction. Do not buy American ANYTHING. The fucking morons who voted for this shit need to hurt. Im talking destitute. Well a big part of the world needs to cleanse it self of US loyalists in it’s politics, military and intelligence/security. It’s going to be tough, a lot of expertise is going to be lost and the rebuild is going to be hard.

After that they can boycott and sanction the USA but they need to militarize to protect themselves. Expansion of nuclear weapons is a good tactic if you can get it to happen fast. Tactical ones as well to strike at US expeditionary assets.

It’s not going to be pretty, stopping the Nazis was not pretty.

  Not easy, it will require extreme protectionist measures to allow European alternatives to thrive. It will be expensive and will probably induce a recession. But the alternative is way worse.

    That would be a straight up declaration of war though and if that happens broken e-commerce would be the least of our worries.

Nobody can outright militarily like, pull off assasinating the entire executive branch, which is basically what you’d need at this point, to actually stop this… bare minimum.

But what you can do is hasten our ongoing societal collapse untill we actually get to something like a Syria civil war scenario.

And how do you do that?

Well, you take advantage of our dogshit cybersecurity we have around lots of government systems and critical infrastrucure, which has surely been made much more secure with the recent drive to install highly exploitable LLMs everywhere they will fit… oh and I’m sure the experts at DOGE didn’t leave in gaping exposed holes in anything…

And so anyway, you just turn off as much electricty and power and communications (yes that means the internet) as you possibly can, in a way that will keep them down for as long as possible and make it as difficult as possible to repair.

At that point, probably a good portion of the US collapses into complete fucking chaos within a week.

That chaos probably necessitates a reconfiguration of our global deployments, and it fucks up our military logistics by way of basically destroying the economy.

Have that kind of a scenario play out?

Well, a whole lot of other major militaries are going to have a bit more of a free hand to do as they please, as we would be in utter disarray.

    There are more kinds of power than electricity generated by power plants, conveyed via powerlines.
    
    Gasoline, diesel, natural gas, jet fuel… all have to get piped or trucked around, on regular schedules, otherwise a whole lotta stuff starts to break down rather quickly.
    
    Whole lot of the infrastructure that makes that possible would or could also be seriously messed up by a full scale cyber attack.
    
    … guess I could have said ‘fuel’, but fuel generally just is stored power in a condensed liquid or gaseous form, so, meh.

To stop this immediate idiocy, Trump has to have a massive stroke, just enough to debilitate him but necessarily replace him. MAGA isn’t going to blindly follow Vance cause he’s got zero MAGA charisma. The GOP controlled Congress is going to be stuck between implementing 25A or not, cause if they remove Trump they’re committing political suicide.

So the best bet is for a lame duck government as a whole.

WW3, that’s literally it. The rest of the world has done jack and shit about Russia and Ukraine beside sanctions and providing resources. People like to meme about Canada being badass, but they have such a small military presence that NATO has been upset with them for about 5 years for not doing their part. Outside of that there is no one in North or South America that can stand up to the US.

Africa isn’t doing much militarily. No one close to China is going to drop their guard to go after the US (Australia included since they have China breathing down their necks as well). That leaves Europe and the Middle East. The Middle East probably isn’t going to do much and if the US takes Venezuela’s oil then they need the Middle East even less.

Europe will probably spin wheels and denounce actions, but the important members of Europe are either 1.) part of NATO 2.) not prepared to defend themselves from Russia if they leave NATO. They can’t meaningfully sanction a military ally without breaking that alliance and once that alliance is officially broken NATO doesn’t have the US backing against Russia and also faces even more risk of Greenland or Canada being attacked by the US.

Best bet for stopping the US is Brazil, Russia, or China saying they will intervene for Venezuela, the EU and other NATO nations saying they won’t support the US, and then BRICS all jump in to fight the US. Maybe this weakens the US and BRICS effectively passes NATO but now Europe is sitting in the crosshairs for Russia.

Honestly, trying to go against the US is more likely to cause the Republican leaders to dislike European or international opinions even more. Republican’s have been complaining at home for 20 years about freeloading foreigners who spend their military budgets on lefty progressive ideas, foreigners complaining about US domestic policies, and all the while the US polices the world for them. It’s this sort of foreign attitude mixed with Russian and Chinese propaganda which has caused the US to drift further and further away from a positive relationship with Europe. Trying to go against the US is more likely to cause a Nazi & Stalin dividing up Poland situation rather than hurting the US.

    My comment wasn’t a “Russia = bad” deflection, but a comment about world leaders’ response to the invasion of Ukraine and what I expect their response to the continuing aggression of the Trump regime to be: strongly worded letters and not much else.
    
    Also, let’s get our facts straight on the genocide in Palestine. The US hasn’t put any boots on the ground yet, despite Trump’s promises from earlier in the year. As of the time that I’m writing this, the US is enabling the genocide but not an active participant. That could change tomorrow or may have already changed, but we don’t need to make things up about the government when there’s already so many evils to point at. Most of these answers here are not viable because the US has leverage in almost every nation on earth.

Venezuela, Iran, Russia, China, etc are the exception, hence why they are sanctioned (and constantly suffering problems with every new CIA project) bar China which is locked in a trade war and has a sizable military to back themselves up.

You would realistically require a counter world power that offers an alternative to the US system, which used to be the USSR which no longer exists.

China is poised as the next superpower, but they haven’t made any significant moves in that regard because they are wary of the USSR’s downfall, and have no intention of engaging the USA in that manner (yet).

Everyone in the UN, despite all their cries, will fall in line when threatened, aside from the aforementioned exceptions.

It’ll take the politicians in other countries being willing to say no to bribes from US corporations.

Because the actions that need to be taken involve sanctions on the US and seizing the assets (including patents and trademarks) of US-owned corporations. And refusing to act as a tax haven for them anymore.

But that would benefit everyone while lessening the ability of politicians to enrich themselves with money from oil stolen from Venezuela and exploited from US citizens. Let’s see how noble your politicians are. We know ours are shit.

This is the thing, regarding Venezuela it’s become a bit of a hot topic worldwide now, in that it’s created a controversy not in the way you would expect. See currently a lot of Venezuelans hated that guy and are happy he’s been taken. So it’s a bit hard on how to play that,

Don’t get me wrong, how trump did this and the reasons he did it are entirely greedy but at the same time a lot of terrorized individuals are now seeing him as a hero but still very oblivious to his end game on how he’s going to destroy their home for his gain yet.

From the frying pan into the fire.

  Everything this guy has ever done is transactional in nature, and he’s openly admitted the agenda for Venezuela. It’s wild how many Venezuelans haven’t come to this realization yet.
  
  A lot of Americans hate DJT but if a foreign power abducted him and his wife, superseded the line of succession to assume control, and expressed interest to harvest natural resources, I don’t think it’d go over so well.

    It’s also wild how much of Taiwan don’t see the problem with trump either. Once upon a time he noted they are their own country now they feel he can do no wrong. I’ve even had to tell a relative from there he’s a kiddy diddler and they still went on about how they are finding some benefits here.
    
    These people are like when a beaten girlfriend goes from a physical abuser and jump right into a manipulative emotional abuser relationship and say “at least he doesn’t hit me”

    We haven’t been dealing with Trump for as long as Venezuela has been dealing with Maduro (and Chavez before him). Give us a couple more decades and I’m sure you’d see more people happy to see him “arrested” by a foreign power. Fwiw, I’d be happy to see it tomorrow, but I know a lot of my fellow USians wouldn’t take so kindly. Not because they actually like Trump, but because it’d be a sobering reminder that we’re no longer top of the food chain

  At the moment, it looks less like a regime change, and more like puppetting the same regime. It looks like the Maduro opposition in Venezuela doesn’t have support of the generals, so we’re just bribing/coercing the rest of the Maduro regime.

Invading or pissing off Japan, China or Canada. All of whom own a sizable amount of the US national debt. Any one of whom can dump said debt and cause a default on the US debt causing hyperinflation. With hyperinflation, they can’t pay for their military and thus are dead in the water.

I think losing an aircraft carrier would give the US serious pause. Outside that, no idea. Maybe we finally pull the trigger and nuke someone, and that scares the rest of the world enough to start actively sanctioning us. Maybe not, though.

It does seem like most of Europe, Canada, and East Asia are happy to be in the pocket of US financial interests. Even folks who don’t like Trump haven’t bothered to break away from JP Morgan or Goldman Sachs.

Nobody wants to risk fucking with the money of the global hegemon.

  But I doubt that would even be necessary. Why kill someone intent on suicide? The US economy will likely collapse on it’s own if it continues on the path it’s on. I’m not talking about some recession like in 2008, I’m talking a collapse you’ve never experienced. Something similar to the collapse of the Soviet Union.
  
  Also if you were going down the military strike route, an aircraft carrier would be stupid. Trump has broadcast to the entire world what the achilles heal of the US is and it isn’t the aircraft carriers. It’s something that’s dug up from the ground and needs to be processed by refineries.

    These three countries aren’t aligned, much less in alignment ideologically. Hell, they aren’t even aligned internally. The US isn’t the only county that reverses directions every four to eight years.
    
    Bo Xilai was very nearly China’s Premier and would have taken the country in a radically different direction absent his expulsion in 2013.
    
    The US economy will likely collapse on it’s own if it continues on the path it’s on.
    
    The county cycles through recessions every 10 years or so. If anything, we’re overdue. It doesn’t end after a bad business cycle.

  China is going to flip the script very soon. They have already overtaken the USA on some economic metrics, their industrial power is growing while the petro-dollar is in its death throes and American trade power is collapsing on every front.

    China is going to flip the script very soon.
    
    They’re one of the few rapidly developing economies left, following the post Soviet stagnation.
    
    But that just introduces another superpower on the world stage. It doesn’t eliminate the US in any material capacity.
    
    America’s only real power remaining is the military
    
    America’s biggest card to play is the Petrodollar. The military has facilitated destruction of competition. But our ability to dictate currency flow and command global trade via a monetary system our federal bank controls is so much more important.
    
    Everyone keeps saying Europe and Asia will go their own way. Let me know when they finally do. Because I’m still waiting.

    Organize to educate and unite people on a class front. It’s not about left or right, it’s up or down.

  Israel, Russia, and China do that in every one of our elections. The problem is that they’re always trying to get the most disruptive candidate installed to weaken the US. Legitimate countries always take the stance of “we don’t want to get involved with yada yada”
  
  A handful of countries are willing to put Trumps in charge and no one else is willing to stop them or put someone more friendly to the rest of the world in charge. Our elections are influenced on social media by Russia, economically influenced by China, and candidates are paid for by AIPAC and a south African billionaire. Our elections are as much the will of the people as the direction of the wind is, and we have just as much influence over each.

The USA will undergo spiraling inflation until it collapses in on itself.

Our federal government is far more trouble than they are worth. We should be like individual states, but united. I declare it the… United States of America! Oh, wait.

But really, we will collapse and split into collections of states, some alone, some allied with others, I’m not sure if it’s officially a balkanization, but close enough.

Our state governments will replace the fed automatically and easily (easily as in possible, not easily as in staving off empty shelves, fuel shortages, etc).

Our banking will stay basically the same, because they’re not even the government, the Fed is a collection of bankers representing our various super banks.

    Israel is a player, but not bigger than the banks, THEY are number one! Check out the history of, say, Deutsche bank. Older than most governments), and much wealthier than most of them, too. Israel does have their own very powerful “banking families” of course, it’s an international interest, not national.
    
    I don’t think the banking families are concerned about, say, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They will sell to everyone involved, and make sure the winner is financed with many loans from the IMF or elsewhere.
    
    Media? Yeah, US media is probably their biggest international ally after the US government, I think. Not an expert, new information always desired.
