    searches for IASIP… 78th???

Suck it family guy/simpsons for surviving shows.

True Detective should even be considered a series. Just an 8-part miniseries with 3 more fan fiction spins afterwards.

Vince Vaughn as a cop was the worse TV in HBO. I bet there is a star at the lobby when they killed that character.

    • CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

I won’t watch anything with Vince in it, he’s a terrible actor

      source
      • oppy1984@lemdro.id ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Same, he on my list of actors that I just constantly ask, how do they keep getting work? Of course Jared Leto is the permanent #1 on that list.

@slaacaa Just American Productions, how poor.

    source
    • olosta@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

There’s at least “the bureau” and “the office UK”, but yeah this is a bad list.

      source
      • tunda@layer8.space ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

        @olosta

        I like "Jordskott"

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jordskott
        from Sweden

        or

        "Babylon Berlin" from
        Germany

Squid Game too, being the only non-English show on there, as far as I can tell.

        source
      • Hawk@lemmy.dbzer0.com ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Downton Abbey too. I’m surprised a show like “Sherlock” isn’t on it though.

Happy Valley, Black Mirror, The Crown, The Office, The Thick of It.

  • chunes@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Battlestar Galactica didn’t even make the top 100?

  • Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

    Oh please …

  • Armand1@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Hey, we’re only 1/4 through the 21st century so far. It’s too early to call it. The Grapes of Wrath reboot doesn’t come out until 2040!

  • expletivedeleted@lemmy.zip ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

I don’t agree with the list, but what is with the check boxes. Where’s the box for “this show sucked.”

    source
  • too_high_for_this@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

    No Young Sheldon? Wtf

    source
  • Groaningwhale@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

    No Shameless? This list sucks.

    source
    • mechoman444@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

I’m glad you liked Shameless and enjoyed it; it’s absolutely fantastic that you did. There’s no issue with that.

But I thought it was, objectively, a very mediocre show. It relied almost exclusively on unnecessary shock value to drive the narrative and keep people watching.

It was so pointlessly raunchy and disgusting.

If you have to rely on gratuitous sex and violence to keep your audience engaged, you’re not making a good show.

Are there ANY animated shows in this list?

    source
    • DagwoodIII@piefed.social ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

      Yes. Bojack Horseman.

      source
      • Grail@multiverse.soulism.net ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

        Oh, cool.

But I can name a lot of animated shows better than Bojack Horseman.

  • Diddlydee@feddit.uk ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

I mean, everyone loved it until close to the end, so hardly a surprise.

    source
    • slaacaa@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

It’s like if a well loved fancy restuarant served you 6 amazing courses, then gave you a shit sandwich for dessert. It doesn’t matter how good the other courses were, you’d complain and tell everybody to avoid the place.

It’s exactly the same way with TV shows. Shit ending = shit show

      source
      • RBWells@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

I used to dance and one of my teachers, in a situation where we had to improvise a little at an event that had hired us said “you need a very strong beginning and ending, people can forgive a lot in the middle.”

So the end season of a show being shit is worse than a bad season in the middle. I didn’t watch it through but that makes logical sense to me.

book readers had been calling it shite since season 4 at the latest. folks who made it to season 7 before realizing it had fallen apart are a little bit slow.

      • driftwood@lemmy.zip ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

The costumes and set work were visibly dogshit from episode 1. My friends and I were very excited for a high production value fantasy show to finally happen. Then they spent all the money on actors willing to do nude scenes (they must’ve missed the market saturation of fantasy porn and smut literature). I think I made it 4 episodes and was glad people came around eventually because that period between was unpleasant.

I’m like why aren’t the sopranos in here and I’m like o ya that show came out in the 90s! Then I’m like fuck i’m old.

Also Gilmore Girls deserves to be way, way higher on that list!

Six Feet Under and Deadwood outside the top 10? Shame.

True Detective (S1) should be in top 5.

      Also, Orphan Black.

A ton of very questionable choices on this list. Many of these aren’t even prestige TV?

    source
    • TheKingBombOmbKiller@lemmy.zip ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Why should that be a criteria for ranking among the 100 best TV-shows of the 21st century?

TV-shows have to be on TV right? I mean Andor was just on Disney.

  • Tidesphere@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

    What is this list, lmao

    Breaking Bad #1?

    30 Rock above The Office?

    source
    • xistera@lemmy.dbzer0.com ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Yeah no one has heard of Succession… with their 75 Emmy nominations and 19 wins. Completely unknown show.

      source
      • Tidesphere@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

I could not name a single Emmy nominated show if you asked me to. And honestly, as I’ve said elsewhere, neither could any of my friends. It’s possible that I’m just in communities that tend not to watch television? But I think that it’s crazy that I could ask like eight or nine people “Hey, have you heard of Breaking Bad?” And all nine would say “Yeah of course” and those same nine people will confirm that they have not ever heard of Succession. Or Fleabag. Or Atlanta.

        source
    • Gold_E_Lox@lemmy.dbzer0.com ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

those three are definately not unknowns, and should be higher imo

    • garbagebagel@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Bro, what. Are you living under a rock?

      source
      • Tidesphere@lemmy.world ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Honestly probably? But I’m not exaggerating when I say neither me nor any of my friends have heard of those shows.

  • Samsy@lemmy.ml ⁨2⁩ ⁨weeks⁩ ago

Idk the shows between breaking Bad and got. Btw. Where is the walking dead?
