I always play Tanooki Mario because I am very in touch with my inner child lol. I love to think of Mario parachuting around with his balls, even if thats not the animation they went with :D
Who do you play and why?

Waluigi master race. Also my ADHD nephew’s favourite.
I was playing split screen online and we noticed someone was a lone waluigi so we both swapped to waluigi. By three races later the whole map was nothing but waluigi from everyone swapping over. If one or two people joined with their default character by the next race they were waluigi. Went on for a good 45 minutes before we had to drop.

Luigi. Growing up I usually played Nintendo games only on a friend’s console, and was usually player 2. As I got my own consoles and games, I stuck with him out of loyalty and because he has a longer jump in some games. :D
Shame they patched out the death stare though.
I’ll never forgive them for that, and neither will Luigi.

Because when you get stopped by weapons fast acceleration helps.
I did try out dry bowser as well for a while. I thought it might have been the key to beating 200cc.

I always play Shy Guy. He’s cute and his sounds are absolutely hilarious and never get annoying to me. And I’m also super shy, so it all works out.
Rosalina. I like her in general, probably my favorite mario character. Also she’s a heavyweight which I prefer in Mario kart.

Started off with Toad in the original.
With Double Dash I moved on to Paratroopa / Koopa Troopa.
And with 8 I moved onto Shy Guy.
For the in-between games, I kept the same as the previous entry. I switched to Shy Guy because I like the noises he makes.
I still love double dash. Such fun even with people who didn’t know how to drive.
Still our number one favourite.
Both me and my wife had a Gamecube. For my stag weekend, I hired a country house in Scotland and took both, networked them together, hooked each up to a projector and we played Double Dash with 8 players at a time. It was loads of fun!

Baby Mario/Luigi/Toad so I can build a super accelerating, super handling, ultra slow car. Keeping the boost jumps going is the secret

Very rarely play mario kart but when I do I play Rosalina cause she’s cool af
I always pick a light character while learning the courses, and then switch to the biggest fastest one once I have got my routes figured out.
Bikes ALWAYS.
MK8 DX I pretty much exclusively used my Mii in the end.
MKW I have been using Bowser Jr, though it’s always fun to bring out Cow every now and again.
Yoshi, because if I wanted the best acceleration acceleration the only other choice was the princess.
(I only played the original SNES version.)
I like Wiggler because he gets so heated and makes silky faces. Best Heavy driver.

Turtle or Toad. The first one. We have it on Switch but don’t play it much. It’s fine, it’s really pretty, but my experience is with the first one.
Right from the first Mario Kart I was a Koopa Troopa fan. Acceptable alternatives being Yoshi and Dry Bones.
Whatever I feel like playing at the moment. I don’t have a favorite.
