Not sure about FF8 but there is a preview of the Ff9 voice mod on YouTube. Sounds pretty good so far.
I was pretty impressed by the FF7 voice work. The quality varies, but I really liked Cid and Sephiroth. Would rank it up there with the better Skyrim follower mods, except it’s soooooo many more lines.

FF7 has mods for better characters models, better backgrounds and FULLY VOICED CHARACTERS. Yeah all caps because it’s that insane modders voiced the entire game from main characters to random fillers in town and are now working on FF9.
The voice mod is called Echo S but they’re all available through the 7th heaven launcher and work great on steam deck.

It really is amazing how stupid those “vents” are. Why the hell would I care about moving smoke from directly above the stove to blowing against my ceiling?

Huh I still don’t remember ever getting an open ended choice.

No because we can’t add our own picks. You choose from a limited selection.

Considering my kids already refer to pre millennial days as the ancient 19’s, you can already do it with the younger crowd.

This has gotta be some AI drivel. It even tried to say upper class in San Francisco starts at $69k so unless they’re talking about 1930 this is nonsense.

1060 is probably more powerful than the steam deck and that things run almost everything. You don’t have to play at 4k/ultra.

I’ve spent way more time in MMOs than I’d care to admit, but if you think FF11 didn’t have a grind you can check the millions of old posts about it on Reddit for a reminder.
Look at the RPGs people love, none focus on the grind. It’s because grinding does not benefit gameplay and only drags out playtime.
- Comment on Anon loves The Lord of the Rings 8 months ago:
Nah, this or WoW will probably go down in history but I don’t think any game focused on intentionally dragging out gameplay to keep subscribers hooked will ever go down as marvelous examples of gameplay.
- Comment on Nintendo Switch 2 is already running custom graphics through exploit one day after launch 8 months ago:
Yeah that’s the only reason I’ve considered it. However, things have changed a lot since the Switch 1 came out. Existing Switch emulators will likely work well on Switch 2 soon given the similar hardware and the Steam Deck massively raised the bar on what I expect out of a portable system.
Plus the controller still looks like it sucks for adult hands.
- Comment on Helldivers 2 and Palworld devs wish players understood that 'easy' additions and updates are sometimes really hard: 'That's half a year's work. That takes six months' 9 months ago:
Working as a solo dev on a project you know by heart is literally the easiest work to do. If you’ve never had to work on a large old codebase you have no idea just how hard it can be to make changes.
I’ve done this sort of thing for years and I would not even give an estimate on a change for a new project without some time to look at the code base.

Can’t be done is usually shorthand for the cost massively outweighs the benefits. No different from remodeling a building. Like coding, literally anything is theoretically possible but sometimes you’d have to redo so much existing work it’s never going to be worth it.
