Comment on Part of internet most harmful to teens?
DireTech@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks agoIf you’re talking that young then no, but I’m also limiting them to only things like PBS kids and non-violent movies at that age. However, if they’re old enough that you’re ok with them watching people shoot and kill each other for your entertainment then they’re old enough to have that discussion.

So what age are we talking about? At what age do you think a conversation would prevent still developing kid from having their sexual preferences affected by porn they consume?

I figure at the age you have the talk with them you also need to bring up the topic.
Unless you’re extremely good at controlling your kids access and making them avoid friends whose parents do not, there’s a good chance they’ve already seen it. My wife’s a high school teacher and when a report came out about the average kid having been exposed to porn by 8 they all agreed.

Interesting the 8 is still the average first exposure. I grew up analog but still remember “that one kid” bringing a nudie mag to school and seeing boobs for the first time in 3rd grade. But, that was also just basic pictures of naked women, not the who knows what that is widely available today.

So you’re saying that at 8 you would explain that porn is not realistic and some things should not be done in real life and let them watch it? Just asking out of curiosity. I don’t have kids so I don’t have to make decisions like that.
