I had to make sure my eyes are looking at the supposed interior, uh, “refresh” isn’t something made with ChatGPT.
I bet the owner of this house also has a, ugh, Tesla in the garage.
I’d rather choose the more iconic tacky but more identifiably human and warm interior design over that horribly sterile aesthetic.
Eh I much prefer the clean look. The older design looks cluttered and a bit tacky to me.
How does it look cluttered when there’s nothing cluttering the surfaces? Cluttered to me is the coffee tables running over with unopened mail and cups and glasses and tons of shoes in the hallway, that kind of stuff is what cluttered is. Not highly decorated.
It is interesting that we live in a world flooded with ads and intrusions everywhere now, and we don’t see to want detail and attention in our living spaces anymore. I wonder if there’s a relation.

I get what you’re saying, but switching my gaze between the two is like turning a siren off when I see the “after” pic. It’s desolate and boring, but it’s not AWOOOGAAAA

Yeah these houses aren’t meant to stay like that they’re meant to be banal enough to easily project your own style onto. It’s not the seller’s fault you have no imagination and have to be told what to like.

Bit too much white, but otherwise very livable IMO. I like that clean style.
The first one is interesting, as it shows that they have vastly extended the house to the rear. The door under the stairs led to a half-bath (toilet and sink), and that was the buildings’ end.
If you ask me how I know that: I got the original house plans from the net and plan to - one day - build a proper LEGO model of it. Not the shrunken one they offer as a set, but built to scale from those plans, with the driveway, the garage, the garden with the tree and tree house.
People don’t really believe that was a regular decoration for a regular house, do they?
It was deliberately coloured in Xmas colouring in all surfaces in a ludicrous way. It’s certainly not a standard anyone was actually living to.

I heard on the radio that the child actor is now potentially working with some people to make a new sequel where the same character has his own kid. I don’t think it’ll have the same shine and it’ll probably flop but time will tell.

Well, I’m old and lived in before “before” and well it was ugly… I prefer the “now” now.
Looks like the technology of color photography got lost in the meantime. I’ve seen photos from 1850 that look much more colourful than this.

I do not care for the stark white walls everywhere. I don’t hate the monochrome, though, so long as there is still some mid-tones to break things up a bit. In my opinion, stark white should be used minimally, like for trim, the fireplace mantle, stair steps/railing, etc. More grays on the walls, more variety in tones. And then the occasional accent piece that has a a bright saturated color to it, or a warm tone, will stand out like crazy in the space and provide a distinct feel to the room.
I don’t love the busy repeating wallpaper patterns in the original, but overall it has a very warm comfortable esthetic to it. Neither esthetic is bad. But I think the original was more cohesive and homey than the latter.

Now to me it would not be comfortable to live there at all because it would be like living it up surgical suite. I want a place I live to actually look like I’m living in it
