Hell yeah! I still do that on road trips to pass the time. Keeps things a bit interesting.

I enjoyed looking at the big map of my state and calculating the approximate time we would either pass a city, or arrive at our destination. It was fun. I was pretty close too!
- Comment on Do people confuse your nationality? 1 week ago:
Where do you think I’m from? I’m definitely from a country very close to what you have guessed!
Kidding aside, I’m from Michigan in the US. These Uber trips were from the town I was born in. I have no idea why I pronounce certain words the way I do. It certainly is not the way anyone else I’ve known speaks. Pretty odd, right?

When I was an Uber driver, like 10ish years ago, people would ask if I was from the US (I live in the US) often. Apparently the way I pronounce some things can come across as having an accent, which I don’t see. I think the only thing I pronounce differently is dollar; doh-llar. Why? I have no idea. At first I’d be like “nope, born and raised in this city”, but after a while I would lean into it, for fun. I’d ask “where do you think I’m from?”, and then respond with a country that is adjacent to their guess. It was always Eastern European, which I do have some distant lineage, but far far removed. I would then follow it up with the “just kidding, born and raised here” and we’d all have a good laugh. 🤷🏻♀️
- Comment on why does alcohol stop my back pain but medicine doesn't? 2 weeks ago:
Chiropractic was literally invented by a man who didn’t feel like he needed to go to medical school. It is not based in science. This is not some new misinformation campaign. It has been well known, since the inception of it. Do some research on it if you don’t believe me. It’s quackery. It’s nice that it seems to have helped you. But again, not science.

It’s not creepy. But I could not imagine dating someone who is close in age to my adult children. It’s weird.

- Comment on George R. R. Martin's New Announcement Has Finally Made Me Accept He's Never Finishing The Winds Of Winter 3 weeks ago:
I gave up on him finishing the series years ago. I was super into the books, as they elaborated on so much that GoT had to leave out for practicalities sake. I agree with others that the world simply got too big. A final book in the series would likely not do enough to give the various plot lines justice and a sense of finality.
The show really needed another 2-3 seasons to flesh out the plot lines that were laid. The three eyed raven, the faceless men, the children of the forest, the white walkers…and we get bran as the new leader? Absurd. Danny becoming mad felt right, but everything else was wrapped up horribly. There’s so much more that the show could have been. But instead D&D got a Star Wars deal, that never panned out, and peaced out. A damn shame.
I had always thought that Martin had a proper plan for the series. But again as others have said here, perhaps this was the ending that he had in mind. If so, then damn.
- Comment on Trump Claimed a Video Showed ‘Burial Sites’ of White Farmers. It Didn’t. 3 weeks ago:
That’s the beauty of arguing in bad faith: The headline is the story, and his sycophants will believe it without reading the article with even a modicum of skepticism. They take everything at face value, whereas those critical of Trump may do a cursory search to find out that he is straight up lying.
White Genocide is absurd on its face, and those who believe it are stupid at best, or fascist at worst. Fuck him and his hateful rhetoric.

On the real tho, when I worked retail at a printing/shipping center, a guy came in and started puffing on a weed pen. It was so fucking annoying having to talk to, and eventually kick him out of the store, because he couldn’t wait to do that shit outside.
I’ve smoked and vaped PLENTY over the years, I’d never use cannabis in a place of business. The fuck is wrong with people.

HBO can eat a bag of rusty nails. Rowling is a piece of shit, and they tacitly support her views by giving her even a single cent.

That’s really nice to hear, but I’m tired of waiting to find someone that cares for me as more than just a friend. I recognize that I likely will never find that.

I want someone to marry me again someday. I want someone to stand in front of my friends and family and profess their love and devotion.

My mom made no such effort, and gave up on calling me Jessica a couple of years ago. I’d cry my eyes out if she had sent me what your dad sent you. I know that she loves and cares about me, but she also refuses to see me as how I truly am. It’s such an odd experience, hurtful at many times. But she also bought me a car last year, and has offered to help me bridge the gap when I was off work for 2 weeks due to an injury. In spite of her non-support, I love her dearly.
What I’m getting at is that familial relationships are nuanced. Give your dad some credit for taking the time to research what being trans is about. Of course there is more to it than just the medical side of things, but he is trying.
Your age also factors into this as well.
My stepfather made several transphobic statements while he was alive. If he was still with us, I’d bet his conservative worldview would have changed a bit. I still hold him in high regard, because I know that he loved me and just wanted what he thought was best.
TL;DR: Family relationships are hard, and it seems like your dad is trying.
