Here’s the thing about voting in primaries: DNC will try to ratfuck it 8 ways from Sunday to ensure the leftist can’t win. They partake in corrupt backroom deals to this end. Not only is this wholly undemocratic, but it drags the country further right and further into fascism as a result. Just look at the policy positions of “party leaders” Schmuck and Jeffries, these guys are right wingers at best and full on imperialist colonizers at worst.
We shouldn’t be thinking about ‘28 at all right now, we should be organizing and voting in primaries this year to ensure as many of these rotten corporate turds get flushed as possible. And while you’re at it, write a letter to party leadership and tell them to resign and get the fuck out of our way.

Make clear to the democratic machine that the only way to win power, is by including the left in their coalition. This means not voting for them if they don’t, but organizing and voting in primaries to try to force them to do.
This is not an imaginary track, this has worked in the past. If you have to oligarchic parties, you solve nothing by (only) voting for the least bad one.

Then you will need to be aware that by not voting for the more left candidate, we will have a far right government for a couple of cycles at least. This will cost lives and further entrench them into power. It is why we have what we have right now. It will also drive left leaning candidates further right because they are going to cater to the people who actually vote. A far left candidate winning is still possible eventually, but a lot more damage is going to be done to a lot of innocent people in the mean time. Is this a cost you are willing to pay?

Lets be real, if the US population votes in a democrat that isnt at least as left as Bernie or Mamdani, the US will just incrementally move further and further right. Yes its better to get any democrat over a republican, but it wont save the US long term. Its rotten to the core and needs a healthy cleaning from the inside out.

This is just historically inaccurate. The US has been moving left (on average) since the late 1700s. The US was founded as a slave state in which property owning whites were the only ones who could vote for representatives and only representatives could elect the president. The US committed genocide against the native peoples and annexed territories by imperial conquest. There was no such thing as labor rights until the unions took them barely 100 years ago. We’re still making progress, but not without bumps along the way.

So far in our history, the violent revolution way has been started quite a few times and it usually gets stamped out or enough concessions are given that it simmers down. The cruel joke of it all is that a “moderate” Democrat in year 4 is guaranteed to produce an extremist Republican in year 8. We played this game after Nixon, got a four year reprieve, and then landed on 12 years of Reaganism. We got force-fed Clinton by the corporate wing of the Democratic Party and he immediately shat the bed in the '94 mid-terms, after passing… what? A deficit reduction bill that did nothing to improve the lives of his liberal base?
That’s not even getting into Democrats who are actively hostile to their base voters. From your Jim Justices (who straight up turn coat the day after the election) to your John Fettermans (who mostly just scream and cry about anti-semitism now) to your Kristen Sinemas and Bob Menendezes (fully sold out to corporate interests from inside the party) to your Henry Cuellars and John Whitmires (actively complicit in the Trump regime’s ongoing ethnic purge in his home state of Texas) to your Charlie Crists and Michael Bloombergs (literal former Republicans who become Democrats and then just cost the party elections for the next ten years).
These are the slop candidates the party offers up every two years. I don’t actually know if they’re “better” than Republicans when they all govern exactly the same.
