Imagine telling the average person what the guys on the right (Diaz brothers of MMA fame) would do to the guys on the left (jacked bodybuilder bros who likely have never stepped foot into a fighting gym).

Hey that’s pretty cool, I happen to be on x11 still but plan to switch to Wayland once Cosmic is in beta.
This is great info, will look into this further. Ty!

Yeah I’m aware of openrgb, it has limited compatibility but seems to work ok for most of my stuff. Still haven’t found a great way to run my favorite corsair keyboard reactive lighting theme I had setup with their software in windows, but what I came up with in openrgb is good enough.
However, I didn’t think it was possible to run autoIt or autoHotkey at all in Linux. Are you suggesting a Python script to replace it, or something else? AHK has a very peculiar syntax which I don’t believe would translate well to other languages.

Switch to Linux. As a big-time gamer, I did it last year and it’s been fantastic. Only issue is if you main games with root kit anticheat…but with enough momentum in Linux direction, game studios will be forced to abandon those dubious detection methods anyway.

For gaming, It’s mostly niche windows things in my experience. In my case I opted to stay on linux anyway. Also worth noting, I find that outside of gaming linux is superior for work and general pc use.
Some manufacturer programs for doing things like mouse macros or controlling LED lighting, auto hotkey scripts, some types of overlays tied to directx apis (yolomouse), etc. These things don’t and probably will never work. I think some of them might if you really know your stuff with wine, but that usually ends up being dependency hell for me and I give up more often than succeeding when trying to force a windows native program to run.

It’s windows users were talking about here, data security is not exactly top of mind. But maybe many of them are about to find out it should be…
- Comment on Good to exercise at home instead of gym? 1 month ago:
Very reasonable approach to start at home. You can get absolutely shredded doing just a small handful of body-weight resistance exercises: pushups, pull ups, squats, lunges, and maybe sprawls. That’s literally all you need. Add in some yoga or pilates routines occasionally to strengthen your core further, a ton of material for that on YouTube. Congrats on the big step of starting your fitness journey!

It was incumbent on Dems to EARN votes, and they failed spectacularly. You’re wrong to try blaming voters for failings of our corrupt politicians.

I don’t think they expect this one to hold water, but it does serve as an excellent distraction from all the other nefarious shit coming down the pipe. Don’t lose sight of that other stuff - especially attempts to liquidate the treasury into $doge, $trump, or any other shit coin. That is the monumental heist they’re gunning for, make no mistake.

- Comment on Anon tries programming in Java 5 months ago:
Been coding Java for about 15 years now. Pretty much agree - anon’s primary mistake was using javaFX. From a junior dev perspective I can see why they’d do that, but Java isn’t really meant for building desktop applications, it’s meant to power web apps.
What they should have done instead is create a backend restful web service and wire up a frontend rest client with something suited to web app ui dev such as angular or react. Java has some awesome frameworks built for it over the years, something like spring boot would make building that backend service trivial if you know how to use it. JAX-RS/Jersey or even servlets could be utilized for this instead, if you wanted to.
Spring boot has some nice tooling for thread management, but Java also has pretty good options for this built in as well. As chunky mentioned, if you aren’t already versed in concurrency patterns, don’t try to perform concurrent operations or you’re gonna have a bad time. But do learn how to do this, because exploiting concurrency is one of the golden rules of good computing.

Maybe…to tell you the truth, I’m not sure if the Fairness Doctrine fits this world anymore. You’re right though, while the president can light the fire, it will ultimately be up to Congress to actually do something about it.
Right now corporate news agencies are just mouthpieces for our corporate overlords who buy all of the politicians in order to further enrich themselves at our expense. It’s literally robbing us on a national scale. The less facts people understand, the easier it is for them to pull the wool over our eyes and gaslight us into thinking this is a normal, acceptable situation. Clearly this is not sustainable.
We do need some kind of regulations for news to actually be considered news, and to serve as a mechanism to make them deliver factual, useful information to viewers. Not entirely sure what that would look like tbh.
