Uh isn’t almost every sitcom two to five people talking in a room??!?
UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 2 months ago
And they’re a hugely popular genre.
funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 months ago
it’s also every form of narrative entertainment - movies, video games, novels are all people in rooms talking.

As if TV some shows follow the rules of theatrical plays, coincidence or conspiracy?

Did folks see that Ayoade is on the next series of Taskmaster?
dalekcaan@feddit.nl 2 months ago
Oh, fantastic! I was a bit surprised he hadn’t been already.
Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 2 months ago
In one of the podcasts Alex said they had been trying to get him in (and he wanted to do it) since the early seasons, but it just never worked out.
antaymonkey@lemmy.world 2 months ago
We’ve had Noel Fielding and Katherine Parkinson, now with Ayoade we just need Chris O’Dowd and Matt Berry to round it out.
RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Matt berry is about 2 and a half years in to an epic sythesizer solo and can’t be bothered.

Chris Morris would be gold.

Can we please continue ignoring the existence of the ridiculous entity that is the FIFA World Cup?
vogi@piefed.social 2 months ago
This world cup its easier than ever to not give a shit since all of the matches are locked down behind some stupid exclusivity deal, at least here.
eestileib@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 months ago
I live in a host city and I’d say we are maintaining our world cup homeostasis. No signs of fever whatsoever.
Gonzako@lemmy.world 2 months ago
All the spanish matches get broadcasted on public TV

Really?
I watched Canada play for free on a streaming site. Like hell I’ll pay for this shit.

Pretty sad life to live, criticizing other people’s enjoyment of things.

Yes. We know.
The show was, generally, hilarious.

Here in Australia it’s always been too oriented towards Australian rules football. I never gave a toss.
And a lot of the players are total dickheads too (one was our customer). I don’t mind soccer but nobody likes it here, and I rarely watch it anyway
MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world 2 months ago
Usually I’m Team Moss when it comes to sports, but since the world cup games are 60% aligned with my timezone, and costs $0, figured I might follow it for the first time.
And its rather fun.

I like watching the dudes kick the ball and stuff

See, the thing about Arsenal is they always try to walk it in.
deranger@sh.itjust.works 2 months ago
I’ve used this exact line talking to some Arsenal fans here in the states and it actually worked.
