Yeah in a controlled environment. Doubt it can last the promised lifespan when it’s buried underground.

Tape needs to be stored in a controlled environment. Heat and humidity can degrade tapes. Usually you’d transfer the data to a new tape every 5 to 10 years just to be safe.

Yeah not very crazy if they cut back on their daily intake of Big Gulps, 12 pack sodas and jerrycan of orange juice they suddenly have a significantly lower daily calorie intake. Obese people need more calories just to maintain their weight. Since even fat cells need to use energy to stay alive. Obese people can drop the first kilos very fast just by cutting calories.

That’s straight up the behavior of a company that wants to create a monopoly. Buy up the smaller companies so the competitors can’t buy them up and then just shut those companies down so their products can’t compete with the existing money makers. The money they put into those studios for game development is just a charade to please the authorities. Cause if they would shut those companies down immediately after purchasing that would be undeniably anti-competitive behavior and illegal even in the US.

Okay you show up to a Sunday league amateur soccer match. You scream KYS to the ref, they red card you. Why you surprised?

It’s the same as parents going full tilt against the ref of a kids league soccer match.

You can also do it like Dunkey does. Just record gameplay first, edit it to make an interesting or funny video and then later add the commentary like you are playing live.

It’s not that they used animal mechs. It’s that the style of the mechs are very close to that of Horizon. Sony has copyright on the design, not on the idea.

If you have a proper surround system than usually soft dialogue isn’t as big of a problem since the voices are on the center channel and don’t share the same speaker as the music and sound effects which are on the other speakers. The problem arises when you listen to a surround mix on a stereo system or a cheap soundbar. The center and surround channels then gets down mixed into the stereo channels. Which can drown out the voices by the loud sounds since now they share the same speaker.
The real solution is adding a proper stereo mix as an option. Which used to be normal in the DVD era.
- Comment on Off topic 2 weeks ago:
Well that might be the problem, you are listening to a surround mix on a stereo system. The center and surround channels gets downmixed to the L-R channels which could drown out the voices since all the voices in the center channel are now on the same channel as the surround sound effects and music. Maybe at a mixer in between to boost the center channel before the down mix.

If you have a soundbar or sound system turn the night mode or quiet mode setting on. It compresses the dynamic range of the audiotrack basically lowers the sound levels of the loud sounds

- Comment on do they hate money now for some reason?? 2 weeks ago:
Yeah that’s exactly why porn sites fall into the high risk category. Chargebacks happen more at those sites. And thus these sites have to pay a higher transaction fee. So either itch pays a higher fee or remove porn.
- Comment on Itch.io is delisting NSFW games due to pressure from payment processors 2 weeks ago:
maybe it’s because itch mostly sells non-porn games so they probably flew under the radar, so they could have less fraudulent transaction or chargebacks as a porn site. Or the payment processors didn’t care too much that itch broke the compliance rules until someone reminded them of their duties. Like PornHub was showing illegal content for years and the payment processors only gave a shit about it until someone went to the news.
- Comment on Itch.io is delisting NSFW games due to pressure from payment processors 2 weeks ago:
It’s not about morals. It’s purely about money. Porn sites are labeled as high risks because things like chargebacks, stolen credit cards etc happen more often at these adult websites. Not to mention the thin line between legal and illegal content. Therefore payment processors charge companies in the high risk category a higher fee since they need to audit these companies more frequently and deal with these chargebacks etc. more.
So either Itch.io goes into the high risk category and pay more for transactions or they remove porn. Maybe itch.io should just create a separate company to host these adult games.
- Comment on First they came for steam, then they came for itch.io . 2 weeks ago:
Porn sites are categorized as high risk at these payment processors. So probably itch has to fall into the high risk category and incur higher fees or remove all porn content. If you fall into the high risk category the payment platform will probably audit you more often and thus charge higher fees.
OF probably had these same issues because they didn’t start as a porn site.

Holy fuck why did Collective Shout go full nuclear and go behind the platforms’ back and straight to the payment processors. Like they could have at least talk to the Itch.io people.
