Thru hiker are fine with this. Though I used a ziploc so I could reuse the bag multiple times. Add some wild garlic too.
When you're in a rush and need to eat on the go

Did you use a spoon or did you cut a hole in the corner pastry bag style and tape it back up next time?
ThisOne@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Spoon but I also turned it inside out to lick it clean. More sanitary that way for the next night

I cut a corner I’m not uncultured swine
Malica@lemmy.zip 3 weeks ago
They have the bags though
ThisOne@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Sure, sure.
But for a week plus of meals its a lot cheaper. I’d usally bring like one fancy backpacker meal for a 5 day stretch if they had any good ones in town. NO MOUNTAIN HOUSE.
Plus you can put other stuff in there. Miso soup & ramen, Asian style. Tvp, taco seasoning, some chips if you pass a gas station on a road walk, taco night. Gotta have some variety.
lemmyman@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
This is called “cold soaking” in the backpacking community but the bottle is a neat innovation.

Now put it in a bad dragon product!

I’m not sure I want mash in my ass…
Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 3 weeks ago
Are you afraid your ass can’t handle the hot, creamy stuff?
Varesti@lemmy.zip 2 weeks ago
You’re supposed to start with a whole potato and mash it inside yourself with the bad dragon.
digital_man@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Yooo, new boy meal dropped!

Eat the powder and then drink the water. Saves a plastic bottle. Not only does it assert dominance, it’s the eco friendly option!
glitch1985@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
You’re still using a plastic bottle. The more environmentally friendly option would be to wash it and reuse it every day for your morning potatoes.
TheStaffmaster@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
At what point did I suggest you drink water from a bottle?
FishFace@piefed.social 3 weeks ago
I gagged. Upvote for you.
RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 weeks ago
Hot water would melt that bottle if you wanted extra micro plastics.
bcgm3@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
This is, by far, the least vile thing he ever made and/or ate.
TrackenDaKracken@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Why isn’t soup sold in a bottle like this?
Also, don’t eat soup out of a plastic bottle.
Sarmyth@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Campbell’s does make a sipping soup line sold in cups with drinking holes. It is…fine.
olafurp@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Most bottles made in this shape are unsafe to heat. It’s not common so it’s not cheap.
alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 3 weeks ago
So you can mix that with some flour and water in a gallon bag, cut the corner, and squeeze into boiling tomato sauce.
Homemade tomato sauce with homemade gnocchi in 20 minutes is p great.
If you need a protein, you can start your sauce with disc’s of salami, get all the grease out of the salami and use it to fry up some garlic (maybe add oil if there’s not enough grease), chili peppers, onion, then add tomatoes, canned is fine, and water if needed.
Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 weeks ago
Classic? Boring. Gimme the roasted garlic butter or fully loaded. Those smack.

The only way to eat it is to throw it in the waffle maker.
hOrni@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I think it would actually be better if You ate the powder and washed it down with water.
_stranger_@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
You would think too little water would make them terrible, but too much water makes the texture unimaginably bad
aksdb@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
I guess it doesn’t simply turn into some kind of potatoe soup?
TomMasz@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
That last panel is remarkably disturbing.
HerbGrower@slrpnk.net 2 weeks ago
You get mashed potato in sachets?
glitch1985@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I wouldn’t consider them mashed. We get dehydrated processed potatoes in sachets.
myyass@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago

I say other way around, there’s no fat, sugar (especially HFCS) or carcinogenic chemicals in it.
nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 2 weeks ago
There is some form of processed butter and cream in that packet already. And probably microplastic in the lining of the pouch, if not coming off the machine that processed the potatoes.
alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 2 weeks ago
Well obviously you need to add a stick of butter and handful of salt, wtf kind of boring potatoes are you making?
